Joking! No worries. If you have a chance and the post office isn't too busy, check with someone there about where to drop off the packages. But, at the post office near my house, packages with postage already paid can be dropped off at the box next to the automated kiosk. Under 13 oz. can be dropped off with letters and stuff, including the boxes outside.

I'm thinking it's the same thing that happened with most kids in 80's (myself included) who only saw the value in the game and sometimes keeping the box was cumbersome. Though the storage options now are easier to keep with the hardcases and all.
