Love this show. Hank's student has great tits. And the ending was hilarious.

...if a bit too forced, but I don't give a fuck. Poor Hank. Poor, poor awesome Hank.

Anyway, once they've exhausted the college setting in S3, anyone want to bet that they'll find a way to put him on a movie set for every episode in S4? Seems like the one Hollywood setting idea in which we haven't seen Hank get some pussy.

I'm losing interest. There's no real conflict in any of the plot. There's no heart left in the show, especially not with these forced long distance once-an-episode talks between Hank and Karen. I feel like the dialogue has taken a hit too.

I dont perceive any drop in quality. Also, after the heavy drama at the end of last season, Im enjoying watching Hank stumble into every woman's panties.

Besides, its Californication - we all KNOW the heavy drama will come in the final few episodes. This is all just light, fluffy set up for when shit inevitably hits the fan.

I'm enjoying the season a lot so far. I thought the first few episodes of last season were really good, but also depressing; it just got worse as it went along, and the emotional punch in the gut wasn't worth it. This season seems to be a bit more balanced.

Seriously. As much as I love and respect the fan-shitting drama that the show always provides, the reemergence of Hank Moody, well-meaning womanizer, has turned these first few episodes into sex candy. In a good way. There's a time and a place for the Hank and Karen plot, but this other side to the show is much more fun to watch.

There's no on going plot really right now and i don't give a shit. It's just awesome following his life and seeing what he'll do next without having any stupid backstabing, murder, or whatever farfetched ideas hollywood can come up with (see how nip/tuck went down hill fast with the dumb story arcs).

As for the dialog, i can't believe you actually mentioned that. As I was watching the last episode, i particularly loved the dialog.

I thought I was going to hate Sue Collini but she's freaking awesome.
Jackie's tits are excellent but Felicia is amazing imo :D

I'm loving that this season is a bit lighter than the previous 2. It's true that this doesn't seem to have the heart of the other seasons so far, but there's still plenty of time for that to happen. I'm just enjoying the ride.

I concur! I'm loving this season. Last season was far too heavy on the melodrama. Much better this way.

Gorgeous women, lots of nudity and belly laughs. Fucking perfect. Really don't give a crap about Karen; never did (never liked her).

Also, I think the English (though I think she's South African) wife is smokin'. He'd be nuts not to pursue her.

That was a much better and more interesting episode than the last one. Good stuff.

Hm. Now I might have to watch it. After last week I'd just given up on the show. It's pretty much lost all its wit, charm, and subtlety; perfectly encapsulated in the unfunny grotesque trainwreck that is Kathleen Turner's "character".

And there's the heart of this show. Not that I didn't enjoy the other episodes, but this one really brought it.

Holy shit that college girl called him her boyfriend, did you see his face :lol ? Christ she's hot. Maybe a bit of a butterface (but reallyyyy), but her body is a 10 all the way.

All these women will make things interesting :D .

I am trying to think of who that is. It's someone's daughter who is VERY famous, and yes she is fucking gorgeous.

GOD DAMN IT! I know who this is but I can't spit out the name.

It's Susan Sarandon's daughter.

Man, I must be in opposite land. I was coming into this thread thinking I'd hear people complain about the most recent episode, but it seems you guys liked it. Maybe I was too tired when watching it, but I thought it was one of the weaker episodes of the series. Just felt like a filler episode capped off by an ending meant to redeem itself :P

Pretty much. It seemed like the standard "Oh, here's a new character who Hank's known his entire life but who we've neglected to mention or show until this exact moment! Have fun with the guest star, audience!" episode. Still, they needed an excuse to tide us over until Karen got back and inserted herself into Hank's lovely little love quadrangle.

Granted they have been replaced by much better tits but I still wonder why she hasn't been mentioned in this season.

Let's just pretend she's touring with the book and forget about her. The whole thing with her getting away with stealing his book was by far the worst storyline the show ever did. Her character should have disappeared after season one just like Bill.

Eh, it's not that weird at all. They'd obviously grown apart and were barely speaking. Seemed like their last 'interaction' of any sort was 2 years prior when he sent flowers when Hank's dad died, let alone their last actual conversation. It's not like Hank talks much at all about his pre-LA life in terms of anything but the nature of New York. It's never "I miss those friends" and he's just not mentioned this one.

Great ep. last night.

My fav part was when Daisy said her vagina looked like downtown Baghdad.:lol

And i really didn't expect the ending at all. But Im glad to see her back. I love the onscreen chemistry between Karen & Hank.

This show is worth paying for ShowTime alone! Also Eva is sooooo fucking hot, she was on AOTS a few days ago!

It's a love pentagon now actually.

Well, now it's a love pentagon. Or pentagram, if you would. Before, for some very unexplained reasons, Hank only really seemed to act like there were three women involved, like Karen's NYC departure gave him free rein over all the pussy in LA County.

Hank tends to behave like his has free rein over all the pussy in LA County if Karen is in the next apartment over.

The ending of the opening scene was good. Something like:

"Please, please, please turn around. Show me you still love me. Show me you're still my little girl."

And then his pee-pee dance and goofy waving. :lol "That's what I'M talking 'bout!"

This week did feel like one of those place-holder episodes and I thought it was a little weak in comparison, but I like seeing Hank do stuff so OK.

I agree. It was entertaining, but not nearly as good as the first four episodes.

Also, it sucks that
karen is back
. End of fun? Return of melodrama?

I really wanted to see hank nail his boss (or see her nakid, anyway).

the blonde student is gonna pissed probably

hank's daughter leaving as the first scene. u know its going to be a boys' night out.

mommy's back. I wonder if party is over for hank

Holy Crap. I was just looking at the actress that plays Marcy on IMDB. She has been in a TON of kids shows as a voice actor. From Rugrats, to Spawn, to King of the Hill. Now she is playing this kind of role?!? Wow.

Disappointed by
Karen saying she didn't actually sleep with Bill again
. Hank deserves to be on the other side of that once in a while.

I got the sense that maybe she was covering up that aspect of her stay in New York because Hank had just showed his sensitive side and she felt guilty.

I think this was the strongest episode of the season so far. Definitely not as heavy on the laughs, but all of the stories are starting to develop in a really interesting way and the great drama is back.

Karen defending her family and Sue attempting to save Charlie's marriage were definitely the highlights for me.

She plays a horrible drunk, which isn't surprising since most experienced actors still fail at portraying realistic intoxication.

Normally I find her passable. This is probably due to the way in which Hank plays off her lines, though.

i think my interest in this show is waning, which is sort of sad to me since i love duchovny so much, and loved the first and second season with a passion. i think maybe the fact that the main "on again off again" romance is split between two cities and doesn't have a chance to keep that tension present episode to episode is what removes me emotionally from it. bummer.

I don't understand the Karen hate - Hank is a better character when she's around. Sure, he doesn't fuck around as much, but seeing him try and restrain himself is wonderful.

Another great episode. I dont really get a lot of the hate/dislike for the season so far. It feels very much on par with the other seasons so far.

Pretty much. Digging it about on par with S1/2.

i'm a sucker for the "doomed relationship that might work out but probably won't but MAYBE IT WILL" in shows like this. i loved it in NIP/TUCK with julia and sean; i loved it in LOST for the first couple of seasons with jack and kate; i loved it in VERONICA MARS with veronica and duncan; mulder and scully from X-FILES. . . and so on. romantic tension is very appealing to me on a dramatic level. and when that dramatic tension is taken away, i just feel it cuts the heart out of CALIFORNICATION.
