Official Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime Thread! TANK BATTLES ARE AWESOME!

I got it earlier today, and I am loving it so much. Just got finished with the first tank battle. My favorite pun comes from one of the emails you get when you return slimes: "Shhhh, it's a secretion." I genuinely, truly laughed. Has anyone played Slime Mori Mori 1, and if so, does it have the same sort of character that this one does?

So I'm reading up a bit on the game, and stumbled on this interview http://www.nintendo.com/newsarticle?articleid=WGmBSvvcfHloppDbPJ8itVrPi0vrCvED&page=

"For this game in the series, we're not actually using the Internet connection. But as you know, it's the second game in the series—even though it's the first one that's being released in America—so if it sells well, we'll look into making a sequel, so perhaps the next one we might look into Wi-Fi."
Argh! You hear that you fools? Buy this damn game! Just for a sequel in and of itself. But Wi-Fi would be oh so sweet. :D

My final crew right now...

Killing Machine: Target their commander
Jinkster: Infiltrate and sabotage
Mama Mia: Mum Missle

The third slot I sometimes use Gooshido so he can steal more advanced ammo that I don't have, or Blubba, since I can shoot him at the enemy tank, and if he makes his way inside and survies, he'll steal 3 pieces of ammo for me to use.

I like Mama Mia since I think she does significant damage (up to 125 which is the highest I've seen from any weapon) but then sometimes she will do only 60 or something, so I think it's random. Either way, she makes good ammo. :P

The only way you loose an item is through alchemy or if you sell it, so feel free to throw as many rare items into your ammo as you want. :)

Haha, yeah, fighting the boss the second time was awesome!

As for goodybags, the backwoods were the place for me. It's the only enemy that spawns there. Still pretty rare monster tho. :S

We might be on the same wavelength. My crew is Killing Machine, Jinkster, King Slime and start firing like crazy!! I'll do the infiltrate and sabotage job myself HAHAHA.

I choose Krakatoda to get the Goody back so I can gather some other baddies and item while waiting for it to appear :D, especially ChimWing which is very easy to MAX out.

QUESTION: Anyone know how to get a "V. Shell"? I found that machinegun is pretty useless unless you have half of you ammo as a bullet :/.
Kaboom
FTW!!

SOME people who shall remain NAMLESS that have been PIMPING OKAMI INCESSENTLY refuse to buy the game because it's only ten hours.

I SAY BAH: BEST TEN HOURS OF MY LIFE, BITCHES.
That's a shame too since this game compliments Okami nicely.

Hopefully they get cracking right after DQM is done. And add a bit more depth to the dungeons.

i just finished it, i cant believe it, is the best 2dgame since lttp for me.

DS goty.

/edit: 16:47 HS around 75% complete, 87 slimes.

For tank master mode, are there differences in using different tanks?

Yes, for example the dragon one will use the axe to block incoming. The Rabit one will let you fire the big drill at the enemy and one of my favourite will give you a Kaboomite via the dragon mouth without any other item in the way. :D Try them all out some of them are pretty useless though.

They also have different layouts. Some have much more encasing around their engine in case (in the unlikely event) you run out HP.

I prefer the original ol Blue, myself.

I think I missed something along the way... how do I recruit people for the tank? I'm have 80-some slimes, and the only available crew members are the original three, the ninjas, and some chapel folks.

I like doing sabotage work myself as well, but in really tough battles, I let my crew do that since the AI isn't as smart as I am about using the mirror shields and blocking all incoming attacks, etc.

And I agree with the ChimWings, I didn't realize that when you used one to send something back, that that ChimWing got added to your total. I was looking to sell some stuff off and saw I had 100 ChimWings in my inventory. :lol

Well, I do have one question about the tank battles- when do you get to
use other people in your battles? Maybe I'm just missing something, but things can get a little hairy with just Rocket in the tank
.

This game is insanely fun. I'm 67 slimes in and can't stop. I'm playing at work, thanks to the DS's quick sleep. best feature ever IMO.

I was wondering - does DQ Heroes have a town expansion system like the original did (ie, where you add onto the town)?

Other than the fact that town expansion may have been replaced by HP expansion for tanks, being a bit easy and the town being a bit too cramped (at least for now, and not having a beach as far as I can see), this game is totally awesome.

Okay, just used her in a battle and she got 200HP of damage on one shot. @_____@

Anyone else use her and know what is up with her random attacks? 60HP of damage is good enough to keep her around, but getting 200HP of damage is excellent!

After she charges up, does it matter how long I wait to put her into the cannons that is affecting this, or is it just completely random?

G-d damnit. Is there a better way to get Goody Bags than the Backwater Woods? Terrible. I need another 25 and managed to get not even 1 after 20 minutes of attempted farming!

Finally got this, 28 slimes in. Really fun game and I honestly can't find much to complain about except maybe that Rocket moves a little too slow--which is really nitpicky anyway because it's still so fun. Tank battles are really what make this game, but even farming items/monsters is somehow stupidly addictive... Anyone on the fence because of that should really give it a shot.

Am I the only one that wasn't impressed with tank battles until you got your own crew? The battles almost seemed too tedius before that, now that I'v got crew members helping to fire ammo/and themselves I can pick and choose what I do and have a bit more fun in battle.

I'm simply in love with the slimes, they're so cute. :)

Lately I was going around blasting into my fellow townsfolk just to hear their reactions. :lol

I even like the "whiny" noise the slimes make when they get hit. Course I also love Rockets little expressions when he jumps and gets some health, sounds like a high-pitched "All Right!!" :D

Kratakoda Mount. The top right on the map near Slival Tank Battle area.

The better part about ChimWings is that in Tank Battle
it instantly kill(I think or send them back at least) the invader just by throwing it at them :D You can also use it to get rid of enemy ammo as well[/soiler]

Do they actually spawn faster? :/

My record is it usually appears within 5 to 8 minutes. I dont really bother collecting them right now though, I wanna get all the reciept first and curse the Broad Sword.

Tip: The living statue is a horrible crew member. The only job I give him is to keep baddies out and all he does is friggen march all over the cannon room getting in everyone's way while baddies are causing havock downstairs. What. The. Frig?!

And he's so slow he can't even load the cannons unless a piece of ammo is right in front of him in the cannon room. Everyone else is running around grabbing stuff before he can lumber over toward it. And his annoying habbit of ambling all over the cannon room ends up pushing me into the cannon.

He is off the team! ~______~

Oh, btw, found out it's a good idea to revisit some of the tank battles in
Flying Clawtress
since you will get some GOOD ammo if you win. Hello
Kafrizzles and B-3 Slimahawk Missles! Also got a bunch of devil's tails from winning tank battles here which will help make more Kafrizzles!

Soooo.... I beat the game, and did some other stuff.

I got the Hero Sword from the Goddess, and I trashed Hooly in his Healslime Samurai tank. Fought Slival again in Mt. Krakatroda. Is there anything else I can do besides farm ****ing goodybags? I have yet to try multiplayer, I'm waiting for someone to catch up to me so I don't completely pwn them with my ubertank. Is there anything I'm missing?

I finished the ultimate rank battle in the Tank Master arena tonight. Loads of fun -- easily the best tank fight in the game.

Also, did anyone else realize that you can upgrade the museum statues? I got up to 50 of a monster, and it switched the statue from bronze to silver... so I wonder if gold is an option, too? It was pretty neat, anyway.

50 nets you silver, 100 nets you gold. You don't anything special tho.

*counting off his cash*

Hmm... if I keep that on backburner, I could probably pick up DQH:RS and PMDBRT week after next.

Stupid budget.

Man, even the final boss fight is funny :lol

The Plobfather has all his goons in his hat and then he calls em out with their tommy guns to shoot you. Then he seems to use what looks like Rapthorne's staff to transform himself

Damn I love this game. :)

Someone I talked to after I beat the game mentioned some rumor about the 102nd Slime, but no one has mentioned it since and I've not seen any clues on where it could be if it exists. I'm wondering if the game was just jerking me around and if I should take the whole 102nd slime thing seriously or not.

But barring that, you've done everything I've done, plus completing the monster museum and alchemy list, and getting all the weapons to show up in your inventory.

Edit: Thinking about it, they are probably talking about Slival. Nevermind. :P

I don't get this loading ammo thing, can someone explain it please?

Edit: NVM, someone already did.

Perhaps a stupid question. I beat the game with most side-quests complete, all 100 slimes found, and for some odd reason, I can't seem to find and harvest whatever baddy takes up the first slot on the map for the final stage.

Help? Please?

Thanks!

(I feel a bit foolish. I even got all of the hidden Goody Bags in all the other stages!)

Edit - And yes, if you beat the last boss a second time, aside from the expedited endgame and humerous new dialogue, you do get 2 new recipes.

Oh, you get recipes 35 (Kafrizzle) and 37 (Meteorite). But does anyone know where to get 38? That's the only 1 I'm missing.

For that matter. What exactly do I need to do to get the Hero Sword in the Hero Well. Beat the battle without letting the three grunts get hit at all? Oy... Headache...

You they can get hurt and you can also throw-em as "ammo", pretty easy.

I beat the battle but didn't get the Hero Sword. :/

What the hell? I half-ass my way and still got the sword, don't really know what wrong. Maybe you're right about getting hit can kill your chances of getting the sword.
