Official Final Fantasy V Advance thread (56k sucked into the mu)

Kind of in the same boat. I'm pretty sure FFV will be the better game, but I've never played FFIII before!

Then again, it's not like I've ever finished V either. Such an abysmal translation before...

Mabe if you never played FF3 before. Great game, but V trumps III's job system in many ways.

It doesn't matter. I've played pieces of the NES FF3 -- but FF3 DS is new regardless, whereas FF5 is the same old, same old.

Same old best FF game ever.

I have a controversial new opinion!

FF4, FF5, and FF6 are all good games and worth playing!

How about that!

Sure they're all great, but FF5 isn't the best ever.

That's all I'm saying *whistles*

Yeah it is kinda a toss-up between III and V, I know.

But I mean V does have Faris. Faris am awesome.

Quit making joke-posts. FF5 is decent but FF6 kills it.
Joke posts? No.
FFV is the best FF. Simply.
Hey, FFVIII is my favorite FF, but it's not the best one. Just how it rolls. FFVI needed to restrict espers a little more. But if you play sans espers, FFVI does notch it's way up the quality chain.

I was thinking about asking for an explanation, but then I realized I've never agreed with you...ever.*

Ah what the hell I'm curious.

* EDIT: FF8 is my favorite FF too.

RevenantKioku pretty much nailed it. Other FFs can be your favorite. But only FFV can be the best!

From a pure gameplay perspective and in terms of FF qua FF it is the ne plus ultra. That means best, bitch!

FF12 - 10/31/06
FF5 - 11/06/06
FF3 - 11/14/06

Release dates according to gamestop.com

That's 3 final fantasy releases in 3 consecutive weeks. Final Fantasy overload!!!

Please let's not derail this thread with how ****ing awful FFVIII is. Because it really is.

Que?
Anyway....

Anyway, we know about the new classes, yes. And that FFVI will have 2 new espers and a new multi-party post-story dungeon (yes!). Do we know anything about the inevitable FFV bonus dungeon(s)?

FF8 is more broken than FF6.

Any word on X-Death? I understand it was originally Exodus (or something like that) but damn if I didn't love the original terrible translation for this game. X-Death is one of the best boss names ever.

Yeah, there's a bonus dungeon, I think it's in the desert. The boss is a 1000 year old mage who absorbed the power of the void and vanished.... designed by Nomura. :/

I have this great mental image of a burgeoning dimensional portal into the mu held shut by zippers.

Thanks for the update ducky! DUCKY!!!!!

Excellent! Any word on which one they are going to go with? I hold out great hope for X-Death.

As a side note this is my favorite Final Fantasy game, though I haven't played VI yet. Anyways, I have been anticipating this release for a while, I haven't beat the game since shortly after the PS1 release.

I have some problem with the y key on this MacBook Pro. It's not as if it doesn't work, but I "hit" it and I don't really hit it. :/

Whatever you do, don't call Apple. They'll try to charge you 1 million Gil to just for the phone call to get it fixed.

APP!
But it's not "broken" persay as I'm not used to this keyboard yet. "Y" is one of those keys you have to stretch for, and I don't put enough pressure out. :/
Why the hell are we taling about. FFVa!

I cannot wait for the FF loving. I remember when everyone was all like "FFV and FFVI for the GBA must have been cancelled by now!"

And here we're getting 3 FFs on 3 different consoles over the course of 3 weeks spanning 3 generations of the franchise! Or some such! And one of 'em is of the doomed pair!

Oh man!!

Mmm, I imagine it's a character mentioned in the original game?
Enuo?

Here's a photo scan from 2ch. Apparently to get to him (and the extra dungeon?) you need to collect all 12 legendary weapons in FFV. :D

Yeah, I'm sticking with my guess with who it is. Makes sense.

Oh noes not all 12 legendary weapons!! (except that means the stupid lava area).

Yeah I gathered as much. Except.... here's what Wikipedia says:

Character dialogue reveals that one millennium before the events of the main story unfold, the worlds existed as one. A powerful mage named Enuo, using the power of an evil entity known as the "Void," imperiled the world. Its people retaliated, using twelve legendary weapons to vanquish Enuo.

and

The restless spirit of Enuo, having taken refuge inside an ancient tree in the Moore Forest of one of the worlds, slowly regained its strength over one thousand years. The being finally emerged as X-Death, the game's primary antagonist.

Does that mean that
you travel back in time with the 12 legendary weapons to defeat the original Enuo? Since he's Ex-Death I don't see how else he can co-exist as Enuo and Ex-Death in current time!

duckroll said:

Stop it right there.

Remember, that's what Wikipedia says.

Or the English one anyways.

The Japanese Wikipedia doesn't say anything about a connection between Enuo and Exdeath.

In any case, it was the twelve legendary weapons that defeated Enuo, and Enuo was the one who called up the Void 1000 years prior to the game start...

I've finished FFV several times, and I don't remember any connection between Enuo and Exdeath either.

This bonus dungeon sounds very interesting. Basically, it'll close FFV's plot; it isn't just some senseless extra.

Yeah I don't remember them being directly connected, either. Just that he was beaten by those weapons 1000 years ago and he had control of the nothing or whatever.

Thanks. :D

Yeah it kinda makes sense now. His design does look more promising, not just the typical Nomura-wank. It's good to see the bonus dungeon adds something to the backstory too, instead of just being an extra.
