Jesus Christ.

Evra is such a tool, he still doesn't get it, the ronaldo pass to him can only go to there, why does he keep outrunning the damm pass.

Awesome goal.

edit: I retract that. Did Nesta fell asleep? And why didn't Dida stretched for it?

I DON'T EVEN SUPPORT MANURE!

We did tonight!

Milan would have probably taken this scoreline at the start of the night, it's a decent result for them. I really do think United can take them even at the San Siro though.

Why couldn't United defend like that in the first half? Second half Heinze was fantastic.

What a ****ing mistake by dida, and I don't want to take away anything from Rooney, it was a great shot, but he should have taken it.

Both physio's are going to have a long week ahead of them trying to get the various injured players ready for next week. That tie may hang on who's fit and who isn't.

Gary Neville should hopefully be back for the second leg, so he can play right back and O'Shea can go left back. Basically the same strength as tonight, though if Evra hadn't been booked it'd be much better.

That's assuming someone else doesn't go getting themselves injured before then.

and what a game.

Wait a minute, you're going to credit Rooney with that? Did you see how much space Dida gave him? Cech wouldn't have given that up.

Bit of hypocrisy for you.

Yeah seriously......

On the whole a fair result, great game.

They'll get trampled in Milan though.

Don't be too sure - if Celtic could take Milan to extra time and stop them scoring, then I fancy Man U to get something in the San Siro.

Of course, this isn't the kind of result Man U fans were looking for before kick off - it's a great result for Milan.

But you cannot overstate how important that amazing 3rd goal from Rooney and Giggs was!

Are you just here to bitch about every single mistake every player makes?

Not really. Hard to predict Rooney would shoot first time, hard to predict which side he'd shoot to if he did, and Dida dived and couldn't reach the ball, unlike Van der Sar.

WTF. Fletcher had an amazing game tonight. He worked so hard and was all over the pitch.

Thank you! Fletcher has an amazing work-rate and it's nice to see a Man U fan appreciate that - I think with the exception of Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal, Fletcher would walk into any midfield in the Premiership. Of course I'm Scottish so I'm biased, but hey... :D

Except Dida did exactly what Van Der Sar should have done on that Kaka goal. Had VDS positioned himself like Dida did he woulda stopped Kaka's soft shot. The difference is that Rooneys shot was a blast.

Also the build up was fantastic and Rooney's shot was better than Kaka's.

Don't feel too stupid though, you saw the chance to call my a hypocrit and jumped on it, I admire that.

On a lower note, who the hell is gonna replace Evra next match? Even the replacement is out. What a ****ing crisis.
Well hopefully Neville will be back which means either O'shea or Hienze could play on the left or central

I love the way United took the game to Milan in the second half. It felt like the 7-1 Roma game all over again. The dedication and the hunger our players have is simply fantastic. Everyone was running their asses off going for the win and the pressure on every single Milan player was great to see. Heinze was absolute fantastic in the second half. Fletcher had a great game as well and makes me wonder whether we really need a Hargreaves in our squad.

Dida dived because he was center of goal when Milan's (Nesta?) defender had taken away every angle 'cept the near side. Dida misplayed that badly. Watch the goal again. At that pace Rooney could only shoot it at the spot he did.

I was expecting -so much more- from that second Rooney goal after reading the posts here. :\ His first was much more impressive given the passing involved and that you can't fault Milan... they just got picked apart.

I hope the Chelsea - Liverpool 0-0 tomorrow is as exciting!

Not really. And I don't think Dida or anyone on the Milan team expected Rooney to hit it first time at all until it was too late, it's not like he was right through on goal.

As Mama Smurf said earlier, the difference after Gattuso went off injured was massive. I don't like to wish injury on player's, but you would hope that Gattuso is not fit for the return leg - if he is missing then it instantly balances out all the injury problems that Man U have - Gattuso is more important to the way Milan play than even Kaka IMHO.

what a great match, kaka's 2nd and rooney's 2nd goals were brilliant. if utd play as well as they did in the 2nd half and keep the defence sorted they can beat milan in italy. i'm pumped for tomorrows match now :D

It's a shame I hate AC Milan the club atm, 'cos I really don't hate the players. In fact, I really like most of them...not Gilardino, who was useless...but they play for AC Milan.

I think Maldini's absence was significant as well. The entire defense was truly not as solid as it was in the first half.

Great game, deserved win for Man Utd. I really didn't expect a game like this, quality.

I am a bit in shock how good Seedorf still is, he was never the quickest but still he can run circles around the Man Utd defence. They need to be a lot better next week if they want to go through.

With Maldini and Gattuso I think the score from the 1st half would have held. If both those guys can't make the 2nd leg, it's practically over for AC Milan.

Am I just riding the high of this game, or am I right in thinking there have been more really great games this year than normal? Not just in Europe, in all games.

Seems like such an entertaining season to me.

How's Vidic coming along now? Heard he was supposed to be back in training yesterday looking towards a saturday return against Everton but not heard anything since.

Presuming Vidic is back for the return leg a Heinze Vidic Brown Neville defence is pretty solid compared to tonight, basically last seasons defence but without Ferdinand.

Seriously. I have such a tough time getting interested in all-English ties in Europe. I hope Liverpool win it, but I forsee a very boring match. Hopefully, I'm wrong about the boring part.

It's Chelsea and Liverpool. What else could you expect? :P
