I think mourinho should have spent money on a proper good right back bather than a centre back who can play at right back. No one really knows whats happeining with chelsea's financial situation, but Id imagine that abramovich would allow mourinho to spend around 10 - 20 million pounds to buy a good right back.

I'm not sure he would, I doubt all these free transfers are coincidental. I get the feeling Mourinho's been told "look how much we've already spent, you can feel free to add to the squad but you're not getting any money to do it".

I also have a suspicion Hiddink will take over at Chelsea as soon as Euro 2008 is over (or before if Russia don't qualify), so he doesn't want to give money to Mourinho to spend when Hiddink might want entirely different players.

What's going on with Sol Campbell? When Roeder was in charge at Newcastle he was definitely going, but since Allardyce took over I've not seen him linked at all (I just see Ben Haim, Hyypia, Rozenhal etc). Is he staying at Portsmouth? I thought they'd picked up Distin to replace him.

Yeah I was thinking thinking thats the reason why he's bring players in on frees. It also explains some of mourinho's comments in january when he was asking abramovich for money. Despite the money thats already been spent, I think abramovich should have been a little more reasonable and give moruinho a limited budget instead of an open chequebook like in previous seasons. Instead it looks like mourinho has been told he cant spend anything. At the same time I dont disagree with abramovichs actions; chelsea have spent so much and its about time that he puts an end to the ridiculous spending.

Your suspicion about hiddink could be true. I can see mourinho and abramovich reaching mutual agreement about moruinho's departure if he doesnt win the CL. If he does win the CL, then Abramovich will probably want him to stay and maybe mourinho would want to stay too, but I can see him walking away on a high. It seems like therrw are problems between manager and board and I dont think mourinho is too happy, so winning the CL would open up a great chance to leave the club; he'll be remembered in good light and he wont have to work with a board he isnt comfortable with.

I cant see Juve challenging for the scudetto this season unless they spend a lot in the trasfer market. I cant be arsed making a mama style team analysis, but they've got some fixing to do. They'll need to sign a defender, midfielder and a striker if they want to compete for a CL spot. If they want to compete for the scudetto, they need to make a lot of changes. Winning the scudetto will be almost impossible because inter and ac milan are too strong.

Either way, I hope that inter dont win it again. They are a uselss team. 2006/07 was the first time they won the scudetto in years despite spending more in the transfer market than any other italian club and they only won it this year because they didnt have any real competition.

Hey hey hey, I wouldn't call them useless, but I wouldn't say they are a world class team at the moment. I do agree with you that they didn't have any competition in Serie A this past season. With AC Milan docked points, I don't think they even tried in Serie A. They knew Inter would win most of their games and they would have to climb up from -15 points I believe. Juve was gone. The only other team with a decent rep was Roma, who also did not impress me at all. I'm not going to lie, Serie A seems to be a weak league at the moment, besides AC Milan that is. But Inter is a good team. At least they are f***ing honest. They didn't get caught up in the scandal so you have to give them credit for that at least. They are recruiting alot of talent but they just want to win like everoyne else. I do feel they over getting a bit ridiculous with the strikers though.

Next season will be very interesting. I have to disagree with you and say that Juve will be a top competitor. They walked through Serie B unscathed. Yes, they have lost some key players: Ibrahimovic, Cannavaro, Trezeguet will be leavng, Vieira, etc. But they still have some very talented players. They also have alot of money. I'm anticipating at least one decent signing coming from them. And as I said, Serie A is in shambles. The scandal that took place hurt the league. Even if Juve is weaker, who will stand in their way besides AC and Inter? I don't think there are many teams that could even in the state Juve is in at the moment.

Thoughts?

My dad believes that inter have been protected and that they've avoided punishment. Doent in seem a little strnage that Inter are the one big club that were not involved in the scandal? Not just that, but a man named rossi who was part of inter's board left them 2 years ago to work in the intalian FA. He was one of the main people who built up the scandal casea nd once that was all over and the clubs receieved their punishments he left the FA. Now I realise that is very little evidence to suport any theory that inter have been protected so i dont need telling that this is very little evidence to support any theory that inter were part of this scandal. The way I see it my dad and other juve fans are looking for excuses, I dont agree with it. As far as Im concerned, inter are an honest team.

Regardless of that, I dont like inter. Before this seaosn, the last time they won the scudetto was in 1989. For a club like inter, its quite shameful. You could argue that the likes of liverpool are in the same position, but the difference is that Inter have spent obscene amounts of money on players. they've spent millions; infact they've been a little like chelsea, yet they couldnt win the scudetto until there was no competition. they've been useless in the CL for all those years too. They won the UEFA cup in the 90's, but thats not saying much for a team as big as inter.

The club is difficult to work in. Managers have failed because moratti thinks that he's got the right to make team decisions, but as the owner he shouldnt be intefere with the team selection and who the club buys. Managers such as cuper, lippi and zaccheroni have all failed because moratti keeps interfering.

Anyway, I think its going to be very difficult for juve to properly challenge for the scudetto. Inter look strong and so do milan. Juve have got some quality players, but their current squad isnt good enough. The problem is that their best players such as nedved and del piero are old, whilst the young players dont have the experience. The players who are in their mid twenties are not good enough. Juve have a lot of cash, so they need to use that money to bring in top quality players. There is plenty of time to make changes and so far they've done a good thing by getting buffon to stay. losing trezeguet will be a blow, but it will be less of a blow if they can get huntelaar. I think Im going to have to do a team analysis later. I can see juve getting a CL spot, but winning the scudetto will be too difficult because of inter and ac milans strength.

The guy in white is from Mexico: Are you kidding? We avoided the Gringos (USA.)

Jankovic scored at the death for Serbia to pull out the 1-0 victory over Czech Republic.
Antonio Rukavina and Milan Smiljanic combine superbly down the right and the latter's cross is headed into the corner of the net by Boško Jankovic.

The Czech Republic only have time to kick off and the whistle blows for full time, Serbia winning 1-0 for the second time to move on to six points in the group and into the semi-finals of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship. No matter what happens in the England-Italy game, the Czech Republic will still be in contention on Sunday.

Babel with the "come get me" plea...

Ajax star wowed by Wenger
By Tom Adams - Created on 14 Jun 2007

Ajax starlet Ryan Babel has conceded it would be 'a dream' to play under Arsene Wenger at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are understood to be taking a keen interest in the Ajax player who is currently starring for Holland in the European Under 21 Championship.

Babel - who scored in the 2-1 win over Portugal on Wednesday - has now admitted he would leap at the chance to work with the Frenchman in North London.

"If I get the chance one day to train with Arsene Wenger it would be a dream," said Babel.

"From when I was young I supported Arsenal. I liked the style, the ambience, how they show themselves on the field - everything."

Babel was also linked with a move to Newcastle in January, whilst talk of Arsenal's interest was fuelled when the young forward was spotted in London visiting his good friend Robin van Persie at the turn of the year.

The 20-year-old admits he is keen to test himself in the demanding arena of the Premier League.

Babel added: "I think it's maybe the best league, it's a very high level and there is good football."
Is that enough of a rumor for you, hadareud? ;)

Lets say that we make the new thread on 1st August, do you think there is any chance we can reach 20,000 posts? I actually think it could come very close if there are some good transfers this summer.

Fabio Quagliarella could be joing united. According to his agent we made a 10 million pound bidbid for him one month ago. Its rumoured that he could leave for a little more.

He's scored 13 goals in 35 games, so his stats are not as impressive as huntelaar for instancwe, but the italian league is more competative so its harder to have such a good goalscoring record. He also scored twice against lithuania, so he made a good start to his international career.

here is a compilation of his goals. Some of the goals he;s scored are so good.

20k posts may be a bit much. That said, I am home alone for the next 2 weeks with no gaming console, so there's a good chance that I will be bored.

England about to start. With English commentary and in good quality too. I am happy.

Completely cutting Italy apart though at least...guess that's something....

We could have scored 4, easily, got none. Unbelievable.

WOOHOO!

I really do want Nugent at Blackburn if we can't get Bellamy.

Young is such a fantastic winger, I'm quite annoyed that Villa have put him up front. if they buy a striker this summer though, pair him with Carew and put Young and Agbonlahor in the wings...

great 2nd goal.

Nugent has apparently said that he would like to go to Everton, since he's a childhood fan.

Hoyte is playing really well as well so far. 2 years and he'll play for England.

Its been a great performance by england, but italy have been very poor. They've been very sloppy and they are all over the place.

Oi! We didn't!! Well we did the first two or three matches, then when he came back into the side he played solely out wide on the wing and Agbonlahor was more central.

The rest of your statement I agree with.

My mistake then, he never seemed to show his Watford form at Villa so I thought he'd stayed up front.

On the evidence of this game though, he should be back.

I hope Derbyshire comes on, I really think he would score against these guys.

Everton are taking too long with a bid for nugent. Sunderland have made a bid, so currently they are the favourites to get him.

Hoyte has been impressive, but he's going to have to fight for his place with richards.

And what a free kick by italy. that would have been some goal.

Yeah, Quinn is there and has confirmed that Sunderland made a bid.
But Moyes is in the stadium too - so there's speculation that he's there to talk to him.

:(

We really didn't get hold of the ball much after the second though, we sat back a bit like I feared. Hopefully that will wake us up again.

Its going to be tough to play like we did at the beginning of the game. Italy were playing so badly and now they've started to click. However we could play on the counter because italy need to win this game, so that could open up some space. Lets just keep the defending tight and not get sloppy.

On chances this game should already be over, but we've let Italy back in.

Send on Derbyshire for Lita and Routledge for Milner at half time and get our energy back.
