haha, nice one Belgium goalie. Free kick right down the middle of the goal, two hands to it and somehow still manage to let it in.

This match has really slowed down. It seems like Holland are happy with this result, and Beogium know they only need one goal so aren't going to push desperately yet, it'd be just as bad to give Holland the chance to get a third.

I imagine it'll take off in the last 10 minutes if it stays like this.

1-1 in poor goalkeeping.

Maybe the Dutch keeper is being smart though and let it in delibrately. The winners of this group face England or Italy, the second place face Serbia. If he let's in another one dodgily, I'm gonna be suspicious.

Have you seen how good Serbia is? I'd rather face Italy or England.

They were pretty good against Czech rep. I don't rate the Italian defense all that highly, Serbia seems like a difficult team to play against.

EDIT: btw, I made another compilation, hehe. Here's PSV player Arouna Kone. Arsenal were once rumoured to have an interest in him, I believe.

Really though you want the Czech Republic. They could still qualify, just need to beat Italy and hope England don't beat Serbia...I just can't see them getting past the first hurdle of beating Italy.

Yeah, but I really don't see that happening. I think Italy will be Czech Rep., forcing England to beat Serbia, which is no easy task.

When did this happen?
Buddle went to LA for Tyrone Marshall earlier this week.

The US and Panama locked up at 0-0 at HT. Seriously getting jobbed here by the ref. As expected, Panama are doing their best to take the air out of the ball and turn it into an overly physical match. The US probably should have scored by now, but I'm still pissed off at all of the diving and cheapshots from the Panamanians. Particularly because they probably have enough talent on the field to play a clean game, but they fall back on typcial tactics. The US isn't getting much help from the ref. Grrrrrrr. We need a goal to open this up.

Earlier today Canada took down Guatemala 3-0 and will face the winner of this match.

Toronto is ridiculous.

Anyways, the ref is horrible in this game. Onyewu's yellow, and the Panamanian captain getting away with the red card is just stuff that happened late in the first half that pissed me off. Panama isn't being very threatening, but the U.S. needs to finish because I'm afraid of what might happen if it goes to extra time.

Thanks, Timmy.

Someone on Big Soccer dug up the following...

The Brizan files:

"GERRY Armstrong today described Neil Brizan as the worst referee
he has EVER seen following a shambolic performance by the Trinidad
& Tobago official in the dramatic 1-1 draw between Northern
Ireland and Barbados."

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/story.jsp?story=526775

"The losers missed a grand opportunity to pull one back from the
penalty spot in the 48th minute after a dubious call for handled ball
from Trinidadian referee, Brizan Neal."

http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/spor...00-0500_41655_obs_boyz_swamp_st_lucia____.asp

"For the second game running, Trinidadian referee, Neal Brizan, gave a
performance that would make FIFA totally ashamed. He looked nothing
like a referee that should be officiating at this level."

http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/spor...-0500_41739_obs_scrappy_boyz_salvage_draw.asp
"However, to the bemusement of the entire stadium, Trinidadian
referee, Neal Brizan, again exposed his ignorance of the laws of the
game when he brandished a yellow card instead of the automatic red."

Man, if only Hejduk was having a good crossing day. He's so hot and cold.

Someone's getting sent off here sooner or later - I'm just not sure who it's going to be.

2-1 final to the US. We looked good for a while in the 2nd half, but otherwise that was pretty ugly. Perez pulled one back with a bomb from inside the box. Oh well, a win is a win, but that was kind of troubling. Bring on Canada on Thursday...

New England is just tearing The Crew apart its 3-1 and some rookie kid is looking pretty good with two goals.. Twellman who?

Edit: Of course right as I type that Columbus scores to make it 3-2 at the half...exciting match

Canada/US is going to be a blast...I'll defintely be hitting a bar for that one.
Yeah, that should be a fun match - looking forward to it on Thursday afternoon. Hopefully the US can sort out some of their defensive issues before then.

I forgot to mention that Gol TV (which is available on digital packages) showed the Canada match live, while Sportsnet (at least in Ontario) showed it tape delayed after the Jays game.

I hope to finally get around to ordering Gol TV for tomorrow, as they're airing the Real Madrid match.

Far as I can tell, Gol TV will be showing the US/Canada match, along with FSC in the US. I reckon Rogers Sportsnet will pick it up if they don't have a conflict with the Jays.

Lol Gary Neville, Steven Gerrard and Michael Carrick ALL got married today. And John Terry got married yesterday.

wtf was there some church 3 for 1 deal I missed?

It's also on Telefutura here in the States. Not sure if you can get that up in Canada. The feed and the commentary has been a lot better in Spanish so far. The idiots at FSC really don't know what they're doing in terms of editing (too many closeups where you can't tell what's going on) and commentary (just a lack of knowledge.)

I'm so glad the Fire game is not on any channel (HDNet doesn't count, as I believe it has 5 subscribers nationwide) this week. DC up 2-0 at halftime.
:lol I was just watching on HDNet. Bad game, nice shiny picture....

I'm hardly alone in noticing Drenthe it seems, according to his agent:

“We’ve got a lot of proposals to talk about the future,” says Andre Wasiman. “How many? Ten or 15, and of big clubs - Spanish, Italian, English.” He won’t name names and has told them all they’ll have to wait until after the tournament for a chance to convince Drenthe they are best for him. “Royston has two more big matches to focus on first,” adds Wasiman

As for Drenthe himself:

Ask him where he wants to play next and Drenthe says he fancies the league once bruised by the former Tottenham enforcer (Davids). “The Premiership is very good and I’ve loved Man United from a little boy, but if I play in England it doesn’t matter.”

United's actually semi-possible as they look like they're gonna lose Heinze and the left side of their defence won't be as strong as it was, but I doubt many English clubs are looking at him as a left back when the impressive performances have come from midfield.

He could go to his hero's old club, Tottenham. Everyone knows they want a left winger, he seems perfect. Villa are reportedly looking at him though as a left back, Liverpool need a left winger, Arsenal perhaps...pretty much any team in the Premiership, big to small, who need a left sided player must be considering him.

And that's why all ugly children should be forced to play football constantly from an early age.

Niiiiiiice! Is this when we're supposed to start posting pictures of ugly footballers with hot wives?

He's been terrible since coming back from injury. Total bust for RBNY, eh?
Terrible performances since he came back. He has no confidence on the ball, and he's too slow for this league. He was s upposed to be a midfield general and a leader but I dont see any of that.

Tough luck for him - I hope he can turn it around.

Goal fest in MLS today, eh? 3-3, 1-3, 3-3, 0-2.

so did Rooney go to Nevilles or Gerrards?

He went to both.

He stayed at Nevilles till they said "I do" then went on a plane to Gerrards or so it was reported.

Beckham was there via video phone due to other commitments.

Okay, today's the last match day in spain. who do you think is going to finish first?
I hope Barcelona has the luck to become champion..

:)

Well I semi support Barca in La Liga.

I think Real will win it though I can't see Sevilla, Real or Barca losing any of their matches.

Just hope it's dramatic.

Honduran striker Carlos Pavon (no, not the one that plays for Inter) just signed with the Galaxy. They're trying to add some firepower before Beckham arrives. Not sure where they're going to put Buddle with Pavon and Donovan already inked into the lineup.
