Based on the guys that we have in Venezuela, that's probably our best bet. We might see Kljestan in there somewhere as he's a Bradley favorite, but otherwise it makes sense. Keller has been a little shaky, but I wouldn't want to throw El Guzano to the wolves in his first international appearance. He'll probably play later against Paraguay or Colombia.Osorio said:That's not a bad lineup now that I look at it. Clark wasn't that great in the final and Twellman and Johnson have problems finishing but I think the lineup is good enough to give Argentina a game. Also, I'd give Guzan the start over Keller. I really didn't like his last performance and while

Argentina vs USA at 8:50 ET
There have been a lot of goals so far, 14 in the first 4 games, and the games have been pretty entertaining. Hopefully the US can withstand the Argentinian attack tonight at least for a little while.![]()

I was thinking about putting together something for next season, and I thought it might be a fun addition to the football/soccer thread as long as there is sufficient interest. After poking around the interweb, there aren't any online tools that I like, but a friend of mine had a decent suggestion. Basically, every week one person picks five games that we'll be trying to predict. That way, there aren't a ton of results to look through and score. If there are only a small number of us participating, it wouldn't be too much effort for me to compile them every week. The person that picks the five games of interest would rotate every week. We'd also have to figure out a scoring system. I was thinking 2 pts for getting a result correct (W,L,or T) and a 1pt bonus if you get the actual score right, but not sure if that'll work well. Anyway, if some of you want to give this a shot, let me know and I'll try and put something together if we can get enough people. Could be fun.![]()

They're sending the brute squad. All of those players are in the lineup. The lineup is posted earlier on this thread a few pages back.woodchuck said:is Argentina sending out their B-team or will guys like Messi, Crespo, Riquelme, Cambiasso, etc be playing?

thats a bit of a joke. They have like... 6 VERY GOOD strikers...
Crespo, Adriano, Ibrahimovic, Julio Cruz, Alvaro Recoba, and they just signed David Suazo (who had an AMAZING 2 goal game today against Equador.) Oh, and they are the front runners to sign Carlos Tevez because he wants to play there.
Ridiculous.

Anyway, I'm confused. Does or doesn't Liverpool have big bucks to spend? Because if not, they'll be fighting with Tottenham over third place. Arsenal will be lucky if they get UEFA cup with the way things are going over there. :lol![]()
Hopefully he'll be playing and not riding the pine. I think he'll still ask for a loan deal if they're not putting him in the starting lineup much. Makes sense.AmericanSoccerDaily said:Hamburg Veer Feilhaber Course
by Greg Seltzer - June 28, 2007
After some quality Gold Cup appearances, it appears that US midfielder Benny Feilhaber can expect a far kinder welcome back from Hamburg boss Huub Stevens than was forecasted at the end of the recent Bundesliga season.
According to a source high up in the club, all speculation regarding moves for the 22-year old American is water under the bridge at this point. Several clubs in France, Germany and the Netherlands have recently made enquiries with the player's agent, but none have a current dialogue going with HSV.
"There are no talks with other clubs," he told American Soccer Daily on Thursday. "We have no plans to talk with anyone. Some clubs tried to make contact, but we believe in his qualities."
Apparently, coach Stevens has had a change of heart after viewing Feilhaber's Gold Cup shows back in Germany. "He saw them on TV," confirmed the executive.
Feilhaber seemed to be on the outs a month ago, and teams began making overtures. Cologne, promoted Ligue 1 side Racing Strasbourg and second Bundesliga risers St. Pauli have made loan pitches to Hamburg, while a pair of top-six Eredivisie clubs contacted his agent.
However, it seems the UCLA product has wiggled his way into Stevens' blueprint for the 2007/08 season. "After the Copa, he will have a vacation and return to HSV," concluded the source. "He will be with the first team."
Stefan Lundin, chairman of the Association of Swedish Football Coaches, is convinced Eriksson will bring City the success they crave.
Lundin told PA Sport: "He is a very good coach, a very good trainer, both on the training field and during games.
"If you meet him and Tord Grip then always start talking about 4-4-2 or 4-4-3. That's the main thing they like to discuss.
"He [Tevez] is no longer our objective," said Inter president Massimo Moratti in reference to Tevez.
"We are fine as we are in attack."

Presenter:
-It seems, like this year at last he will end up out of Atletico de Madrid and in the Premier.
Antonio Ruiz, what is Atletico's take on Torres's exit, good afternoon....
Antonio Ruiz -good afternoon, well as of right now Cadena Ser has learned that after weeks of ongoing negotiations Atletico de Madrid
and Liverpool could've reached a pre-agreement for the transfer of Fernando Torres for 30m plus Luis Garcia, although
they're still trying to work out the details on the Garcia inclusion but it seems that is on course to happen, and of course
it still remains that Torres after his vacations in Polynesia next week will not object to this operation, with the okay of
his agents but they're still waiting on Torres to arrive in Madrid to personally negotiate all the intricate details of his contract
At this time, i insist, Liverpool who are the highest bidders with the offer of 30m plus Luis Garcia could obtain the services
of Fernando Torres...
Presenter- Juan Antonio Alacala has been working with Liverpool's people all day and Alcala what's being said over there?
Alcala- Good afternoon Gallego, from Liverpool they practically consider this transfer a done deal and even put a price on
the operation as Antonio Ruiz said. 35m is what's been talked about in England if it was just the Fernando Torres transfer,
30m if Luis Garcia is included. There was a meeting back on June 21st with Rafa Benitez and the new owners where Rafa highlighted
as a priority the signing of Fernando Torres. That day the two Americans, Hicks and Gillett, the Americans who are full of cash, made a
first offer of around 30m-32m, because we need to make clear that Liverpool has never tried to pay the full release clause, 40m. Sources
of Liverpool, very well informed and consulted by Cadena Ser, say that it's "very likely" that on July 5th, Thursday, next week when Liverpool
get back to work for the pre-season, the addition of Fernando Torres will be announced. As of right now, there are contacts, that is for sure.
The player is very far, enjoying the beach and they would still need in a second phase the agreement, which wouldn't be too complicated, between
Liverpool and Fernando Torres.

everyone's zomg formation seems to be something like this atm:
------------------valdés----------------
zambrotta -- puyol -- chivu -- abidal
---------- touré -------- deco ---------
--------------- ronaldinho -------------
messi --------- eto'o -----------henry
but i honestly think it's way too offensive to be our regular starting team. i'd play with a defensive midfielder behind deco/xavi/iniesta/touré and just have one of the fantastic four (spanish press, lol) rest every week, starting with ronaldinho.
