What a piece of shit Final. Neither team deserved to win it. Benitez was a complete coward and Ancelotti sent his team out there to play the ultimate form of catenaccion which is borderline another sport, not football.

It's sad to see where football stands.

I'll give man of the match to mascherano. His tackling was brilliant and he marked kaka very well; everytime kaka had the ball mascherano was right behind him. Its a shame he was on the losing team.

I thiught the match wasnt that exciting.

I wonder why Liverpool didnt go all out at the end. European teams never push even when losing.

By comparison, yesterday I watched National-Cocuta for Libertadores. National needed two goals, and so at the end theyd subbed their players so they had only 1 defender on the field.

you won't see many truly great European finals, that's just the way it is. Everybody wants to win, and more importantly, nobody wants to lose.

Except for the final 2 years ago there haven't been any great finals in a long time.

I agree with...none of this. Except possibly the catenaccion bit, as I have no idea what that means.

You have to be joking. We outplayed them from the get go, we were attacking constantly but we were very wasteful in the final third. Sums up our season really.

I'm proud of my team tonight, so I don't give a crap what you think.

A big well done to seedorf and maldini. This is seedorfs 4th CL medal. I think maldini will be picking up his 4th or 5th too.

Well that was a load of bullshit. Boring game, bad play, bad ref.

What is it with European refs? Why are they so shit? Giving fouls against Liverpool for totally valid challenges and then ignoring fouls and dives from Milan. Not to mention that Liverpool's goal was clearly offside and he failed to play out all the extra time.

Liverpool totally failed to be a threat around goal. Crouch coming on with 15 minutes left and 1-0 down...wtf? Get the ****ing strikers on and put them under pressure, get the ****ing goals. Sure the ref didn't play all of extra time but let's face it, Liverpool shouldn't have been in that position in the first place!

It's horrible to see Milan win just because they shouldn't even be in the Champions League and I had to be subjected to Kaka running around with his "I belong to Jesus" shirt. **** me. He was shit tonight as well.

I don't have anything against the Milan players btw (well...they didn't leave the club so maybe a slight thing against them, but it's not all about football, they have to think about their families and things), but unfortunately they can't win without their club winning.

I understand how you guys won't agree with me seeing it as Liverpool or enlgish fans, but tonight's final was an atrocity. All of these finals are always close and nothing spectacular, but this crossed the line.

Yes, Liverpool had ball possesion for most of the game. So what? Playing with one lonely attacker and two really mediocre players in Pennant and Zenden,l eaving Gerrard with the bulk of the offensive work is not a really smart thing to do. They had a couple of chances in the 1st half, but other than that it was just Liverpool crashing against Milan's defensive wall.

Is Liverpool's squad really that limited? Why not play Bellamy?

What? Pennant was one of the best players on the pitch tonight! wtf are you on?

And there were more than a couple of chances. First half I'm thinking Pennant, Kuyt, Gerrard, Riise, second half Gerrard, Kuyt, Crouch, the actual Kuyt goal...plenty of good chances.

Bellamy's main ability is cutting in behind the defence and working them from there, not really a possibility when you've got the likes of Nesta and Maldini at their back.

Pennant arguably drove the offense in the first half, and Gerrard's finishing and passing left a lot to be desired the whole game. the whole team just lacks a finishing instinct :/

If running down the line and making a crappy cross is driving the offense, then I agree with you. Everytime I see Pennant play he is unimpressive. Gerrard left a lot to be desired too, but I think it has more to do with the huge responsability he had to carry Liverpool's offense.

Benitez reacted way too late.

yeah, Gerrard should have scored from that brilliant chance that he had.

You're totally right. Liverpool were devoid of any creativity up front.

Pennant was shit. He wasted so many chances to cross the ball, held the ball up, offered little to no threat. They need to get rid of him and use their new money to buy someone who is quality. And just like the big Milan players, Gerrard was also a shadow of himself.

Once of the worst finals in years in every respect - atmosphere, football, ref, goals. One to forget.

Zenden was awful I thought. Agree with there. But everything else you're saying is barmy.

World champions nationally and European champions at club level, not bad for a country whose football is supposed to be in disarray. Shame there's no Forza or Manics, those world cup wind-up days were classics..

Anyway the game was okay but the best team on the night lost, which makes up for 2 years ago I suppose.

the corner kicks were shit, but there were a couple of crosses he made that picked out Liverpool players (Gerrard) who couldn't do anything else.

Im not a big fan of pennant, but today I thought he did well. The big problem was that whenever he got into a good position, his delivery wasnt good, like that cross he did to gerrard right at the beginning. Instead of crossing it a hip height, he should have passed it along the floor . Zenden was crap. I do agree that liverpool didnt create enoguh chances and when they did get a decent chance, they didnt make the most of it.

I dont think benitez reacted too late. He put kewell on at the right time, but kewell wasnt the right person to put on, he didnt do much good. I think replacing crouch with zenden and putting gerrard on the wing or putting bellamy on the wing to use his pace would have been better than bringing kewell on.

Bellamy should've been on , they had a clear pace advantage they could exploit on either flank and even through the centre. Milan were losing so many balls moving from defence to midfield that weren't exploited properly.

Was a sad bunch of sour ****ers the lot of you.

Milan won fair and square. Liverpool played better the first half, Milan the second. And Liverpool did not capulate on the chances given to them, and they had enough!

No bullshit about Milan not belonging in Europe this year, they worked just as hard to get here, harder probably as they had to prove themselves every game.

Now, time for a drink :D

FORZA ROSSONERI!!

What match was you watching!?

Im talking about things like Crouch not being put into play until right near the end, and even then subbing out attackers for attackers. Why werent defenders removed if it was obvious Liverpool needed a goal? Why did I not see 10 Luverpool players inside the Milan box at the end?

Yes, they kept posession and made a few forward kicks, but they did the same thing for the previous 85 minutes and it obviously wasnt working

1. to people complaining that the ref ended it at 2:40, tough shit. stoppage time is completely up to the center referee, he can add two seconds if he wants (ive been a referee for five years myself, and have reffed many state cup/high level soccer games, so i know.) also, this game had some of the best reffing ive seen all tournament

2. inzaghi's first goal couldve been a handball, but liverpool's goal was CLEARLY offside

3. liverpool had possession but couldnt create any scoring opportunities. they had a couple that they floundered. milan finished, thats what soccer is about

milan deserved it, gg

FORZA MILAN

Liverpool really had just one clear chance besides the goal, which was Gerrard's awful finish. Other than that it was Pennant's shot from a very difficult angle in the 1st half and a couple of long range shots.

Milan was even worst, but they had luck on their side.

Yes.

Milan the second.

Hahahahaha

Hahahahahahahaha

Haha

You are joking right? Milan didn't even have a 5 minute spell when they were better, I'm not sure they even had a 3 minute spell. You were terrible throughout, face it. You still won, you're still happier tonight, you might as well stop lying.

And Liverpool did not capulate on the chances given to them, and they had enough!

Of course this is true, but they were still better.

No bullshit about Milan not belonging in Europe this year, they worked just as hard to get here, harder probably as they had to prove themselves every game.

Bullshit? How about reality. UEFA didn't want Milan in the tournament, the legal loophole they got in with has since been fixed so no one can do it again.

Like I say, nothing against the players, but they can't win without the club winning. If we could give the title to every player but not to Milan, I'd be happy. Sadly doesn't work that way.

Pennant wasn't 'fine' at all. Never got a decent cross in, even though Yankulovski and Seedorf left him all the time he needed. Instead of a quick pass or a cross, he slowed the offence with his useless tricks and dribbles. If you want to hurt the Milan defense with quick counter attacks, be sure your players know this. Same goes for Zenden and Kewell btw, who were horrible too. Pirlo, Kaka and Seedorf had a horrible match, yet somehow Liverpools midfield managed to do even worse.

I was just looking through this thread, most of the posts are fine but can we refrain from posting retarded posts like this?

ugh i remember when a team did what you just mentioned against Liverpool where after all the substitutions they had about 7 attackers on the pitch that team was called Barcelona.

Guess what happened?

We controlled the game even more.

That always doesn't work, and as you can see piled in lots of players further up, Milan were under lots of pressure in the last part of the match.

Bellamy should've been on , they had a clear pace advantage they could exploit on either flank and even through the centre. Milan were losing so many balls moving from defence to midfield that weren't exploited properly.

I dunno.

You see we have strikers but their disadvantages are more apparent than their advantages.

This is what's happened all season.

Crouch - yes he's very tall but like in the Milan match our attacks stopped instantly because he fouls the defenders, more often than getting the foul decision in our favour and he can't header the ****ing ball.

Bellamy - How many times have I seen him score after penetrating the defence with his pace this season.... i don't think i have at all, he's had more offside decisions and his end result is pretty disappointing.

Put simply i wouldn't be surprise if Benitez got rid of Both of them, because they've both been more frustrating than not, and our attacks on goals suffers because of it.

wow, this match makes the fa cup final look like a classic
please, let's not get ridiculous here.

The FA cup final was the worst, most boring game of football that I have seen in years. This was high class compared to it.

riiight.

:lol @ anyone who thought the FA Cup Final was more entertaining than this. You have to be mad to think that. This wasn't exactly the most exciting game of football, a bit anti-climatic but nothing in comparison to the FA Cup. Don't get me started.
