well, there's definitely something going on on the Sagna front:

Sky said:
"Sagna is still an Auxerre player," Bourguoin told L'Equipe.

"Yes Arsenal are in talks with the player but we are extremely far away from any possible agreement.

"I can even say that the probability of him leaving is less than 50 per cent."

while there seems to be nothing going on on the Babel front :(

Sky said:
He has once again expressed that desire, while admitting that he is no where near a move to the team he supports.

He was asked by Sky Sports News if there had been any contact with Arsenal, he simply replied: 'No, nothing.'

I'd complain, but as I once killed an entire iteration of GAF with my puzzledonkey topic and we had to move to another server, I don't think I could get away with it.

Huh?

For some reason they're delaying the release of the US Copa America roster until later today, even though it was due yesterday. Not sure what the hold up is unless they're still negotiating releases or something like that.

While we were away for 3 hours...almost nothing happened. But Jaaskaleinen is going to stay at Bolton and see out his contract, and then I guess sign another or leave on a free next summer, and Carson will stay at Liverpool and compete with Reina for a starting spot.

So basically the teams after a keeper need to look at Kenny, Boruc and Brown again.

I created a topic for a new puzzledonkey, a sort of riddle logic site which seems to have disappeared entirely now, and soon after the forum crashed. Crashed to the point that we had to make one of our many forum resurrections to an entirely different gaf site, and upon returning the explanation for the crash was the puzzledonkey topic had had so many views, presumably for clues, that the servers couldn't handle it.

Impressive! :lol

Not a ton of Arsenal news this morning, though they usually play their cards pretty close to the vest - e.g. I don't think there were any rumors about Rosicky before that happened last year. Just a couple snippets about Sagna, some "please get me, oh wait there wasn't any contact" from Babel, and Real Madrid pining after Wenger again. It must be Summer....

not only Madrid:

Wenger to manage Sligo Rovers

I have it on good authority that the board of Eircom League of Ireland side Sligo Rovers have targetted Arsene Wenger as their new manager.

Rovers President Pascal O’Malley said:

“Sporting director Paddy Migashyabitch has spoken to me about Laudrup, Koeman and Wenger, among others.

We are waiting on the report from the club’s sporting department. We will decide on Monday or Tuesday.”

Stay tuned to Arseblog for breaking news on this incredible story. Is this the end of an era? I think it is and I ,for one, welcome our new Sligonian overlords.

:lol

I think they should just do what one person suggested in the commentary and just move Arsenal into La Liga. Seems to solve a lot of problems at once.

Today is so boring. I better not see Hughes, Wenger and Benitez crowd surfing or running topless through the mud at Glastonbury later.

today is really bad, worst day so far this summer break.

The only thing that cheers me up is that I just kicked Chelsea out of the league cup and my second season as Arsenal manager is looking as good as the first one. I might sell Ljungberg, Gilberto and Hoyte this winter.

From this article trying to figure out the top 50 footballers.

He poses the following question:
I couldn’t even have begun to compile such a list without basic criteria. So here they are: imagine you are the manager of a totally new team. You have a certain budget to spend, but first you get one freebie, one guy to build your team around. You get him only for one season, the 2007-08 campaign, so you want to go for who can do the best job for you here and now, without worrying how good he can be down the line. Who would you choose? Who would your “ringer” be?

By the way, his top ten is:
10. Totti
9. Messi
8. Tevez
7. Gerrard
6. Buffon
5. Michael Essien
4. Samuel Eto'o
3. Cristiano Ronaldo
2. Ronaldinho
1. Kaka

So who would you pick as your one player to build a team around?
that depends. If I were building a team for more than one season I would build a team around Fabregas.

If it's just for one season I have to think about it.

So Henry signed for Barca then… 24 million, 4 years
?
where does this come from??

The BBC news just said Henry has signed a 4 year deal with Barca for £16 mil.
Oh well, f**k him, we dont need players that dont want to be here. I dont think he's been at the peak of his form for a while and looked unsettled.
As long as Ade and Van Persie stay fit, we've still got a menacing strike force.

16 million. who negotiated that?

this is unbelievable. this is a horrible deal, horrible.

16 million doesn't even buy us a ****ing Malouda. FUCKING HELL

edit: it's official

I reckon that's because almost none of the sites are posting it. It'll explode later on, probably when we see pictures of him holding up that No 14.

May you do Cruijff proud son

Don't know what to say.

I'm pretty shocked. Even despite all the rumors I thought he'd stay at Arsenal. Man, I'm not even a Gunners fan but it kind of makes me sad.

Sort of like when Owen left Liverpool for Real. Just doesn't seem right.

It just sunk in...

God good, how the hell are you going to put Henry, Eto'o, Ronaldinho & Messi up front?!

EDIT: Maverick, stop entering my brain!!

I'm really curious which player Arsenal have in mind to replace Henry with. It has to be an absolute goalscorer. Arsenal already has major problems with getting scoring, and Henry leaving won't exactly improve that.

Saviola perhaps?

Now that Henry is at Barca, I expect either Eto'o or Ronaldinho to leave.

Yeah its not official yet but looks all but done now. Eto is definately surplus to requirements now with Messi on fire and now Henry.

Oh thank god that's over. Wish he'd stayed, but we can move on now.

Why are the top teams so rubbish at selling players for big fees? United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal...all have sold players for much less than they could have gotten if they'd just held out. The lower teams are much better at it. Sad that Chalrton and West Brom could teach the top teams a trick or two.

Trezeguet time?

I'm absolutely gutted.

That he's gone, the alleged fee. Everything.
Listening to other clubs supporters taking the piss already on Sky.

I'm devastated.

What a wonderful day! I just found out something AMAZING (PSP related), and now Henry is leaving for less than what United paid for Hargreaves, Nani or Anderson.

Ah, excellent!

I think it's important that Arsenal show their fans, and perhaps more importantly their other players, that they'll be even stronger this season with new buys than if they just kept Henry and bought no one.

Buy Trezeguet, Babel, Malouda and Sagna and all will be forgiven I'm sure.
