Official Hajime no Ippo New Challenger Thread!

New Challenger confirmed to be only 26 episodes buuuuttt

Rikiya Koyama, the voice actor of the Mamoru Takamura character in the Hajime no Ippo boxing anime franchise, has revealed in his blog on Friday that a sequel to the ongoing Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger television series is being planned. Koyama was posting about the end of dialogue recording for the series, since the cast just finished work on the 26th and final episode. (The final episode, "New Challenger," will air in Japan on June 30.) At the end of his Friday blog entry, he wrote, "Of course, a sequel is also being planned!!"

Very good news indeed. I need to double check the manga and see where another 26 episodes would put the anime.

What the fuck? only 26 episodes? I thought they were going to go all out with this one and complete the whole story, now I'm sad

I hope we don't have to wait for that rumored sequel for long, it should be considered a crime to keep such epic anime off air for too long
 
Holy shit, 24 was INSANE! Epic doesn't even begin to describe it. Takamura is a freaking MONSTER! I love this show. Hopefully the next season won't take as long this time.

The question is will they get to takamura's next big fight in that?

They got Ippo's toughest challengers coming up next. (next to Sanada)
 
Even after reading the manga and knowing what would happen in this episode, it was still fucking AWESOME!
 
Only 26 eps? I hope the sequel is indeed coming soon as it really recaptured more and more of the original serie's quality along the way. I stopped right before the Takamura vs Hawk fight so I could watch it in one sitting. Beginning of July it will be then!

That fight was so awesome in manga form, will I be man enough to take it in animated form?
 
OMG, I saw 6 episodes back to back (thank goodness I didn't follow it weekly) it's undescribable this fight is one of the best in anime history, I got a little sad when I found out that it's only 26 episodes but I really hope the new one comes very very soon, I couldn't sleep well thinking about the fight, even now I feel like my heart isn't stable, holy shit..

BTW I was going to break something when the count got to 9 at the end of the episode and it looked like the episode ended, I was like "bullshit, NOOO" then they got to 10 :lol they played with my mental health
 
Oh snap this is epic. Do we know how many episodes are left and if there will be a new animated season?

I'm about to just flat out read the manga but I love the anime and would prefer to watch it that way.

This new season? 26 episodes. A second one is rumored to be coming. Probably early next year like this season. Sad... I wanted more =(

2 more eps to go, it ends at 26. A second season is being "planned", but no dates or anything.

:lol the more that episode was close to conclusion the more I was closer to the screen before I knew it I ran out of space and my face was so close to the screen that my wife thought I was going insane.

It felt that way. I also don't like how they
cheapened Takamura's victory with his retarded comments.

Looks like the final ep has a
Ippo/Miyata confrontation. Will they finally do battle?!

Looking at the way they made it, it just has to be followed up. Sequel better hit soon! Really tempted to just start reading the manga.

Kamogawa's flashback
will appear either in an OVA or the next season, whenever that is. And there better be a next season, you can't just tease Ippo's next opponent like that and then not show the actual fight.

Speedstar is another good one. I go with either, usually whichever is released first.

The same group also does the manga scans, which are still going on, usually come out Tuesday around 6am. Manga is about 500 chapters ahead of the anime

Yeah... but the last 70 chapters or so of the manga so far are a bit weak. The latest opponent for Ippo is like a joke I think :lol
 
damn I didn't know GAF has an IPPO thread.

New Challenger is ok arc. The focus is more on other fighters than Ippo.
Also, I prefer the first one's old school animation. Ippo's nostril flaring upv:lol
 
What's the deal about the Dempsy Roll? You'd think they'd just focus on making Ippo a great boxer than focusing on this "special attack" rubbish. It should be just one weapon in an arsenal.
 
That was a pretty good point to end the season considering where the next season probably will end. But the waiting time will suck. Want Aoki's title match now!

It is a shounen manga. That's just how it is.

Spoiler for future material (i.e. stuff in the manga):

Actually they address this in the near future. The Coach actually forbids Ippo from using the Dempsey Roll for an extended period of time since it's a high risk move and there's a way to counter it. Vorg actually helps Ippo realize this and makes for a cool throwback to earlier in the series.
 
Loved the last episode but I hate that now we have to wait, I refuse to read the manga.
but what the hell Ippo's next challenger looks as big as Takamra in the magazine picture, also the part when the couch slapped Ippo was one WTF moment I didn't see it coming I mean he hit him all the time but for the purpose of training :|
 
I was against New Challenger at first but dam it sucked me in totally after I gave it some time. It's still not as good as the first show mostly because it was fight after fight and training sessions and other goofy stuff was cut out. But then again it's understandable the show was only 26 episodes so it had to be kept tight... Or was the manga any different ? Don't remember the manga well since it's long time since I read those chapters.

Well anyway I can't wait for the new show. Mostly because the best parts are yet to see. For example birth of
Brocoman
and
Team Aoki
and we are about to see the meanest villain ever

Just started this season after powering through the original series over this last month or so, originally stopped at episode 29-30 a couple of years back. I'm on episode 5 of this season and I'm liking it just as much the prior one, my only issue with it (Which is the same as the last series) is there tendency to portray other boxers from different nationalities as super humans. For example, in episode 5 they say that
"punches of a Mexican boxer go farther than a normal punch"

I'm on Episode 21 of the original run. So good. Loving the tenacity and the humor. Feels good to be watching good anime again.
 
Just finished the battle of the hawks episode. Holy shit at the epicness! I jumped outta my chair on the final blow. Only Ippo can make me this intense for an anime fight. Just 3 more episodes to go. Sad to know there's only 26 episodes. :(

Totally gonna rewatch the original series.
