Official Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess thread

Well, it's easily the best story telling in a Zelda game to date. Lots of this is done through the cinematics being so good, but the story itself is very well done, and obviously the characters will be lost on you if you don't understand what they're saying. If I didn't understand Midna's words, I probably wouldn't have liked the game as much as I did.
 
Help me out here gaf,
I'm on my way to the Snowpeak and got a "sketch" of some reekfish, showed it to all the zora's even the Zora Prince(they keep talking that he's the only one who can catch one) but not any usefull clue's.

make sure you show the sketch to the Zora's right outside of the enterance to Snowpeak. then show the sketch to the Prince in the secret area of the graveyard and he should give you his coral earing as bait for your fishing rod. then go back to Zora's domain at the base of the waterfalls. look for two large tall rocks, one is larger than the other, these are the mother-and-child-rocks. you should see red fish there. these are the reekfish. catch one, be sure to stand back enough so there is room for the fish to be on the ground and not fall back into the water. quickly change into wolf and sniff the fish to get the sent.
 
All the bugs, all the sword techs... one more heart piece to go before taking down the final dungeon! Yup and it's that damn
sled race against Yeta
. I have a feeling this one's gonna be a real pain, just as, if not more, annoying as the
delivering of the spring water barrel to the Goron without dropping it
. Oh well, I like that the majority of heart pieces are your reward for discovering subtle things in the environment, and not really long and drawn out fetch quests like a number of TWW's were. Gonna get that last heart piece and try and beat it before I leave for Florida (2 weeks vacation) on Sat.

But like someone else says, I have 36 souls... any reward for getting
all 60

I think it's going to be hard to figure out what to do by playing in a language you don't understand (unless you use a guide, but if you want to get as much enjoyment as you can, don't use one.

The Yeta race was hard for me at first when I wasn't sure how to access the shortcut. I figured out how where to go by staying behind and looking at path Yeta took. My biggest problem was at the start of the shortcut, I had a tendency to follow the rupees straight down the mountain (I just had to swerve the right instead).

Do people have trouble delivering the spring water? I placed the barrel down and sniped the enemies first, then walked by the edge of the cliff to avoid any other enemies on the way.

The hardest heart piece for me was at the hidden village. I got stuck at 19 cats and took about 20 minutes trying to find the 20th. lol

The spring water drove me insane until I learned to stay by the very edge of the cliff. I kept trying to dodge the ****ing spinning things, must have tried ~10X.

Theres so much stuff to do, its ridiculous. After getting the item from dungeon 5, I warped out to do other stuff and have spent hours doing so.

My little brother was having trouble with this part - the enemies were overwhelming him. So I bet him I could do it in one try.
All I did was run straight for the bridge, and instead of trying to dodge the spinning things, I continued running forward as if they weren't there. For some reason, they kept rotating around me, but never into me. Made it in one try. :)
 
So I'm at the
Fetch quest after dungeon 6, with the owl statues.
Now that Winter break is here, I'll have some good time to relax and explore the overworld. :)

I just stopped, put it down, killed them, and moved on.Don't see why anyone finds this hard. You get plenty of time to do it.
 
I just beat dungeon 6. The beginning was not very impressive, but once you got the item, it got really cool. One room even tricked me into thinking there was something wrong with my game when
you had to find 4 things to put on switches. There were only 3 moveable pots, so I thought there was something wrong, only to find out why they had those armor enemies make a comeback
. The two bosses were just icing on the cake. Excellent dungeon, would play again.

I've raced him and beaten him numerous times, is there a time limit you have to clear or something to get the piece of heart
?

Also, for those who have gotten everything (or almost everything),
how many bottles are in the game? I have three, I had a feeling there was a fourth though
.

Also, can you get a piece of heart at
the fishing hole? I haven't done tons of fishing there, I did fish out a bag of rupees from the bridge. I just got the frog lure from Rollgoal, but I haven't used it yet
.

1) You can race his wife, just talk to her

2) there's 4 bottles

3) The only one you can get is the one on the rock-formation in the center
 
Finished the game, what a beautiful ending for a beautiful game. :)

is it right for the game to load outside hyrule castle with the items you had before you battled ganon? or is my memory card whacko?

This also means one heart piece eludes me...

There's no save at the end of the game.

ten hours to finish the second dungeon? that's...kind of worrying. i just finished the first dungeon at four hours, and while i like the world and the characters, i don't know how much non-dungeon filler i can take. that first dungeon is awfully good for a first dungeon, though -- nothing really challenging, but it's satisfying how it comes together.

The average to finish the game with only a couple of sidequests is 45 hours

I beat the game at 37 hours, and no, I'm not into sidequests.

I think after the third dungeon, I was already at 19 hours. So the game picks up big time when the world opens up and you can warp around at will.
 
Took me about 50 hours with most sidequests; everything but the
poes.

I actually went back to check how long it took me to get through Wind Waker and my time was like 19:40 or something. TP took me 2 1/2 times as long to get through. Huh.

Something I noticed when I was playing the last end battle:

Since Link is now right-handed, I found it amusing that Ganondorf is left handed. :lol
 
the Yeta sled race is hard when you don't know what to do. it took me 30 or 40 tries lol, because i really sucked. but once you know how to get onto the shortcuts, it's not that hard.
 
After my save being wiped immediately before dungeon 4 at 16 hours, I caught up to where I was in half the time. I never want to find another tear again. Thank god that mechanic is abandoned after the third time.

Up until the first dungeon is where it's really slow, but the events between dungeons is good stuff and held up to being replayed so soon after I was originally there.

Now instead of speed-run catch-up I can go back to playing Zelda the way it's meant to be played. Slowly. :)
 
7th dungeon spoilers / question:

once you stop the big fan in the main hub room,and go down - if you accidentally fall all the way down, is there any way to get back up to the fan without going all the way through the dungeon again?

I thought TWW measures the last time you played, and not the hours of play time. 19:40 would be 7:40 PM.
 
I need some tips on an owl statue...
I don't know how to explain where it is, but I pulled it off the top of a pillar and I see now way to get to the top of the pillar to get the sky letter. I've tried moving the statue to where I could jump on it then jump on to the pillar where the letter is, but no avail...any help?
 
Im @ 42 hrs, and most of the way through the 5th dungeon. Yeah, im spending alot of time away from the main plot. Im scared to advance too fast and for this game to end.
 
Ummm... (6th dungeon spoilers)
Did the Temple of Time seem really short, or is it just me? It's honestly not that difficult to get all the way to the top and back down with the statue...

The boss key thing threw me for a loop at first, though. Compass FTW.

Clever idea with clawshot-ing the shells of those creatures to depress the fourth switch.

Gotta go fight the boss now.

It's only an average. I didnt finish it the first time until 72 hours in comparison :D

wtf? You can't save after you finish the game, huh? That's pretty lame. The game world should be different post-ending. When I talk to NPCs, they should say something about me kicking Ganondorf's ass. >_> And it would be cool to see what Ordon Village is like after all the kids go back and all of that crap. Meh. >_>
Also, I almost cried when Midna broke the mirror. Almost. :(

Nintendo only offers downloads for the TP Wii Manual, and you have to buy the GC Manual for $2.

I know your question was answered in less detail, and you've probably already cleared it, but

if you look around in that large room, one of the four main pillars with ivy on it is broken at the top, you can actually climb on top of it. Once you're up there, you can clawshot to the small ivy patch hanging down from that fan you just shut off. It's a little tricky, the area you can actually grab is small, make sure you hold up once the clawshot pulls you in to make sure you hang on. If you just aim at the bottom, sometimes you'll fall off (in my experience).

Every one of those, you just have to position the statue just right to reach the letter. Keep playing around with it.

That kind of sucks, but the dungeon is so cool, I guess it's not so bad.

I was actually quite impressed they put that in there, they anticipated what you might do (I dropped down without looking up first) and gave you a quick way to undo your mistake.
