Official Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess thread

I'm still a little confused with the story... The cutscenes were cinematic, great, etc... but I'm just...... confused. >_>
Why was Zant apparently still alive when Ganondorf was killed? And why did he crack his neck? What happened to Zant when Midna attacked him and he disappeared? Also, was Zant originally evil? Or did Ganandorf simply cause him to do... all of the things he did. >_> Originally, I had the impression that Zant started... being evil (>_>)... on his own, then Ganandorf sort of met him later on... but now I'm not sure. If it was the former, then maybe Zant snapping his neck was him returning to his natural self... and finishing Ganandorf off? And how was Zelda restored after sacrificing herself for Midna? Why did she sacrifice herself for Midna anyway? What was Midna capable of doing that Zelda wasn't? Was she just being selfless? And I don't really understand why people appeared as spirits in the Twilight Realm. Shouldn't they have just become twilight creatures?

That kind of sucks, but the dungeon is so cool, I guess it's not so bad.

I had to go through the dungeon 2 times... I fell off. >_> Why did touching the fan cause you to fall off anyway? One of the more meh things in this game, imo. >_>

Well it
knocks you down at first (if you try to approach it from beneath) because the fan is running, which is logical. You have to approach it from above and turn it off, then drop down through it and grab that other switch, if you remember. What's nice is that they made it so if you dropped down to the floor after turning it off, you could still get back up without going all the way back through. But I know you know that. ;)

Or are you saying
you fell through it before turning it off? I didn't think of that until just now

1. Zant cracked his neck to kill himself and Ganondorf. Their life forces were connected, and Ganondorf could resurrect Zant if he wanted to, but at the end, apparently Ganondorf was still in Zant's body
2. I think Zant was an evil guy. He wanted to strike back against those who had put the Twili in the Twilight. Ganondorf met him in a particularly desperate hour and gave him his power, but only because Ganondorf could get something out of it (to rule in darkness).
3. Not sure why Zelda's body was there when we saw it disappear.
4. Zelda was a prisoner under her terms of surrender, I believe. Also, I think she was doing the noble thing in helping Midna live.
5. Apparently they appear as spirits in the Twilight, but when they are attacked by the monsters, they become a monster too. The Twilight creatures are transformed Twili

I didn't think it was too hard, but I played it on Cube, I don't know if that made any difference. Seems like doing it with the Wiimote would be ultra-sensitive and really freaking hard (although the Cube version was surprisingly sensitive also).

Ok how the hell do i give the hot spring water to the goron standing at the rock wall outside the castle town? Ive got the goods but i always seem to be dumping it on his feet..

You should take a look around at the things in hena's shop at the fishing hole. She even TALKS about it if you look at her frog lure behind her..

Besides roll goal, there are some funny comments where she asks you who is prettier out of her and her sister when you look at her photo on the wall and comments about the fisherman in ocarina of time.

You should be fine up until 1-7 if you do this...

Ever so slightly tilt the Wii Remote Controller forward so the ball goes forward slowly. Whenever you come up to a curve or turn, don't tilt the Remote, but press left or right on the Nunchuk's analog stick to move the camera.

1-7 and 1-8 (and above) have half-pipes. :(
 
Up till now, rollgoal is by far the toughest thing in this game. Its also amazing how they could make something so cool so easy to miss. Even Henas entire fishing hole is easy to miss. They should have made it required to at least GO there once. I almost missed the damn place, probably the nicest looking place in the game.

You can't get it fast enough before it cools down. You have to do a sidequest where a shop opens in town that has it.

2. Ok. Wait... who brought the Twili to the Twilight Realm again? And what are the Twili? No, seriously. >_> And why were Midna and the others banished? I completely forgot what happened there.

Does anybody know how high Rollgoal goes?
I just cleared 2-8, I see 3-1 is available now

Also, about the fishing hole, I thought I saw screens before of the Wii version that showed all four seasons there, but whenever I go there it's "springtime" (pink blooms on the trees). Was that taken out of the final version, or did the whole game used to have rotating seasons?

Warping takes the hot away. Don't worry about it, there's a lot of sidequest before you can get that guy out of the way.

Holy crap. I've only done the very first level. I've spent like 3 hours doing sidequests and stuff today and I keep finding more stuff to do.

1. Ganondorf was dying anyway, and Zant probably wasn't too keen on being used by him. Not sure where he was, but it looked like only Ganondorf could see him (if he did).
2. The gods locked the ancestors of the Twili away inside the Twilight Realm for attempting to take the Triforce/Sacred Realm for themselves using the magic of the fused shadow.

All the cutscenes are up on video google. Just check out thehylia.com and in the Twilight Princess forums there's a sticky for all the main cutscenes.

Seriously, it's a blast. I was thinking it'd be cool to see something like it on XBLA or something similar.

I cleared all of Rollgoal a second ago, the prize for finishing
level 8-8 is a full wallet (with no more rupee rewards after that) and the ability to play any level at any time (the special edition Rollgoal game) with lots of time (3:00 on the timer)
. Which I thought was kind of lame.

There are a few places right outside Hyrule Castle Town.
use your wolf sense and also search for areas with a circle of flowers to find large holes to dig into. Also check back at your house for fifty rupees in the basement if you haven't already, and there's a silver rupee up on Renado's rooftop.

It's a minigame in the fishing area. Basically it's like those marble mazes you could never complete when you were a kid, you have to maneuver a ball into a cup by balancing across different things. You use the wiimote to tilt the board. It's simple but fun.

Disappointing.

I honestly can't believe how it ended, it honestly felt so shallow. Once again the chance to give
Hyrule
an extensive history is completely ignored. The way the
Twilight Realm
started and finished, it's never going to play a major role since in the end since the only purpose is served was as a tool to
resurrect Ganon
once again. Despite all the foreshadowing and subtle hints the roles of the
three wielders of the Tri-force is never explained. Link's explanation ends in just seconds after getting the Hero's clothing. Zelda's role as ruler Hyrule is left in obscurity and the reason Ganon was able to use the Tri-force of power after he was destroyed in OoT is never explained

Maybe I was simply expecting too much. But AlttP, OoT and the WW all managed to create the feeling of a world that had been around for more then a couple of weeks. This is kind of it though, I suppose Nintendo has no interest in giving the world of Zelda a good sense on continuity. That's all right I guess, but as I recall... TP was suppose to be something more.

On the gameplay front the game is fairly good for most of the time Unfortunately, the later segments bordered on down right boring. Dungeons one through five are excellent, but everything after that starts getting extremely bland and those little gimmicks in the later dungeons just annoyed the hell out of me. The last two dungeons are a chore.

Solid game overall. I wish they had done so much more with the story and with the Twilight Realm/Wolf Segments.

TP was set in a world where Ganondorf was stopped before he could take over how he did in OoT.

This story takes place in that timeline, where Ganondorf was simply put in jail. There's also TWW's timeline where he was sealed away by the sages and later broke free.

Not sure what else you'd want from Zelda. She wasn't really there for most of it, and was still a captive of Zant's until she was brought back at the end.

In regards to the triforce holders, I don't understand your confusion. Perhaps you could restate it?

Can't agree with you on the latter dungeons at all. Even though the last two are a marked step down in general, the design and atmosphere are still some of the best in the series, and the seventh is an adventure of its own.

So, I imagine that scene were he gets the Tri-force of power. He is receiving it for the first time. That makes even less sense. Ganon had to go through some ordeal to get it in OoT but it just appears out of of nowhere in TP's timeline?

My main gripe with the last dungeons is that I wasn't thinking. I was rushing through them and I don't have fun unless I'm thinking!

I think it's the goddesses sorta keeping the balance. The mirror sages aren't the ones that guarded the Master Sword, and may've been acting of their own accord to execute Ganondorf.

Why the hell would they need to go through any sort of ordeal? The Hero of Time and the Hero of Twilight both had their triforce pieces at the beginning of the game, and I'm sure Zelda did too.
 
A couple impatient questions:

I just finished the fifth dungeon.

I still have the normal quiver (30 arrows). Is there something that I can do that I've missed? Is there an archery game freaking anywhere? If I should just be patient, please just tell me to wait. If I'm missing something, a hint would be nice.

Also, there's a wallet bigger than 600 rupees, right? Just tell me this: does it concern Agitha or Jovani?

Go to the star game in Hyrule castle town (you'll need the clawshot).

And yeah. Trade in all the bugs for a bigger wallet.

I've only just finished the second tear collection mission and I'm enjoying the game immensely. I've heard that the game starts out a little slow - I'll admit that the combat is easy as hell just like Wind Waker - but **** me if I am not eating this game up already. I'm already sucked into the world, the twilight realm idea is just so damn cool.

Yes or No, and if it isn't which Zelda is?

For me "Ocarina of Time" still takes the cake as my favorite Zelda.
