Official Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess thread

ZOMG! another video! some with footage we've seen in the trailers, and some footage never or rarely seen

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hC6MXRhk3w

look the bridge has the torches like from the very first trailer, but this time, someone is playing it for real. and look the cats in the forest more footage of them too.

maybe this and all the other missing stuff will show up in a
Zelda: Quest To Find Midna The Twilight Princess, in like a year, to help tide us over until the Revolutionary Zelda Wii arrives in 3 years.
:lol :(

I can't believe we were excited for a game that had an art style like that. Jesus.

the art sucked, but was no worse than Ocarina of Time. it was almost the same style.

technically it's more impressive than Twilight Princess's visuals but only because its in a single room with two large high-poly models. it's like Soul Calibur II.

artwise, and overall look, Twilight Princess mops the floor with that old demo.

but i wanted the entire demo posted again, because normally, you only see an 11 second version.

I dunno, I think Ocarina in-game looks better than that shit. At least Ocarina didn't look like some fan's university project.

Technically speaking, I guess it's kinda impressive, but...urgh. I can't stand the art of it. Then again, early Wind Waker looks like shit to me too, even if the final thing was gorgeous.

agreed, the art kind of sucks in the SpaceWorld 2000 demo. but then Wind Waker's art was awful too, as you said, for the most part, even though the animation in TWW was the best of any Zelda game ever made (yes better than TP animation).

I agree it looks like..crap too..but the animation is very fluent. Better then TPs but this could be because it was just a demo video.

Hmm, I dunno. I loved Ocarina's art. Though this new Link style is pretty cool and has grown on me as well. I prefer the new Ganon as well.

The only thing I don't like about the new Link is his smile. but this wasn't his fault..its Nintendos for not putting proper lips on him.

i like the way Link looked in older builds of Twilight Princess,

before they changed his face (although it's still okay)..... the way Link looks that i dont like so much is in some of the cinemas like when he is
riding fast to rescue Colin and later getting the master sword, his face looks odd... (but in other cinemas its fine, like when he is holding Colin after the rescue
or is being thanked for being so good hearted),,,, the in-game look is just exellent.

oh yeah, and one other scene(s) i really missed not having in the final game was this

riding horseback through a shallow stream :/

Epona has improved alot, I'm still wondering what the hell happened to some of the cooler beta stuff. The giant spider Link was running away from etc. and is it just me or is the draw distance much bigger in those old shots, Hyrule itself seems to be larger to.

yes, some thing were changed/improved. Epona is much better in the final game that in the old shots.

speculation:
the large open-ended forests we saw in old screenshots trailers, be it Faron Woods or Lost Woods/Sacred Grove, that got more confined, more straight-forward, less open-ended seems to be a big change. I'm guessing Nintendo made up for it by making the Desert larger than it was, and adding the Snowpeak area, something which I kinda think was not in the game at all in 2004 and midway through 2005 which covered both GDC and E3.

I would never actually imagine a game world being that big. It was propably just Nintendo showing off how awesome Link looks. Character models have come a long way since they were first shown. As you said. Epona has improved. In that shot..she looks..Ugly as hell.

Yeah its mainly the cinemas for me too. When
The scene of the Tri-force,3 dark links and Illia falling ended
Links smile..looked really cheesy..as if he wanted to rape
Illia

On the West or east side (Depends on the version) there is another big piece of land next to Hyrule field, I wonder if its possible to get there. And one final note about the beta's I haven't seen the dead trees anywere in the game and they were all over the place in the previous versions, there is only one huge dead tree in the game that kinda resembles the on Link goes to with the huge forest creature, or the one with all the cats.

I remember a recent interview were they said they added the slingslot stuff at the last minute, maybe they decided to cut some stuff because it didn't fell into place/didn't make sense.

yes Ive mention the areas with the dead trees before. large areas with dead trees, rainy scenes with dead trees, the Eldin Bridge lit up with torches (which i thought was Hyrule Castle).... so many other things i cant think of at the moment.

It's pretty amusing how every one of the 3D Zeldas has changed so radically between the start and end of development.

Maybe Nintendo should just learn to not show off the wrong stuff too soon. :D

Alot of it has changed, for example the Eldin bridge is the same design, but the towers on top are now in ruins. I dont understand how Nintendo builds these worlds, there are like 3 different versions from Hyrule field since the first trailers.

must sneak into NoJ`s HQ to steal every alpha & beta build of it' plus any needed equipment to play them on (workstations GCN dev-kits' etc).... so who's up for a daring raid on NoJ's vaults? :D

These guys werent in the final game either, though they did look pretty sucky. Most things made it in some form though.
they are those are
the twilight creatures that come out of the portals
, they just looked like shit back then.

if true thats good for a game that first came out on nov 19th in one region and on a console with no prior user-base.

iirc TWW only sold about 3.5m since it came out--and back then there were probably only approx ~10m Cubes sold.

Cube and Wii now have a combined user-base just south of 25m - Zelda TP should not turn off so many gamers and non-gamers as TWW did.

2m sold in less than 1.5 months seems good. Lets see if TP has the momentum and staying power to challenge OOT, which sold about 8.5m on N64 and GCN combined, which took more than 5 years.

I just got pass the
Lakebed Temple
and went
deep into Faron Woods and got the Master Sword
the cut scene with
Midna and Zant was nice
do they explain later on in the game who
Zant really is?

zilda-20050310091748652.jpg

There was so much speculation over who this was. And it never even made it in. I hope lots of the cut content gets moved over to Zelda Wii.

Also, 2 dungeons were cut from WW. It makes sense that they would be moved over to TP. Does anyone think they know which ones were moved over? I'd say the
2nd dungeon in TP would have been the small fire island in WW.
Other than that I'm not sure.

I don't think so...there was a fire dungeon in TWW after all...

The
Palace of Twilight
gives me a TWW/Tower of the Gods vibe though...

Hope someone can help me out since this is driving me crazy...

Just want to start out saying that I'm at the end of the game, already beaten, but just going back through looking for stuff I missed/sidequests/just wandering the gameworld. So I have all the tools and whatnots at my disposal.

So my question concerns an area early in the game -
Death Mountain: I'm not inside the dungeon, I'm outside and at the little hotspring area. Beside the guy selling things in the hotspring, there is a small passageway that leads to a dead end. There is a rock there blocking my way. It has what looks to be a wolf pawprint on it, and three squiggly lines rising from the pawprint. You can sorta see behind the stone, there is metal gratings and such. It definitely looks like an accessible area.

My problem is that I've tried every tool at my disposal, even went into wolf form and tried to dig all around the stone. I've got no idea how to get passed it. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

You have to go to the other side of it and push it.

ok guys back for some help...im stuck in the snow peak dungeon...

i got everything as in the compass, the new ball and chain weapon, the map, the cheese, and pumpkin for the soup. now i went to the wife the 3rd time since she told me the wrong places the first 2 times.....as im making way across the dungeon im confused about 2 areas....one is where u have to move 3 blocks across the ice to activate a switch on the floor....i cant seem to figure out how ur supposed to allign the blocks so i can get 3 in a straight line with the 3rd one covering the switch.

does anyone know what im talking about? how do u finish this puzzle?

also in another area...where there is a spiraling path going up....where u have 2 cages which housed those ice creatures that blow frost on u.....there is canon....i got the canon ball to the canon but i cant seem to figure out what to shoot it at. i tried all 4 directions and nothing seems to work. what do i do here?

thanks in advance

Hey GAF; south of Castle Town, in the area where that freaky bug girl occasionally hangs out, is a hookshot target that takes you up the tower near a flag. You then walk across a rope to get to the other side. ...now what? I'm sure there's some heart in this for me, but I'm just too retarded to figure out what to do.

1.There are many ways..but you don't align them. One of them has to be just...well..alone near the middle then you push a block on that..leaving one just in the corner or something.

2.Shoot forward..but I think thats after u complete your first question.

BlindN-Fan said:

Okay, well now I feel rather stupid to have wasted like half an hour or so messing with that stone. Seems silly I can't just push it from the side I'm already on. :lol

So where do I need to go to access the inside of that area?

1. well i have 3 blocks and im not sure how to get any of them to stay on top of the switch in the middle. i get 2 to line up and need to get the third to line up so it lands on the switch but cant seem to do it

After you walk across the rope, hang off the ledge (in human form) and you can make your way down the wall, there's just enough room for you to get a handgrip. When you reach the other side, cross the rope there to a chest.

Chest contents:
100 rupees :(

I've never seen the bug girl out there, I don't think. I thought she was always at home?

No, she's out there. I've seen her only at evenings, but I don't know if that's the only time she's there.

She always freaks me out, but the first time I saw her out there I had JUST come from her house and she beat me outside. @_____@

Huh, I'll try that. I might have just gone to her house in the daytime without realizing it.

Thanks. Although for the reward I don't think I'll bother. One problem with this game is the fact rupees are WORTHLESS, yet huge amounts are given for no reason. I probably have 20 chests across Hyrule that remain unopened because my wallet was full.

Once you have 2 lined up. Use the one furthest away from the switch. Move it and you should be able to figure the rest out. Leave the one closest to the switch alone and you should have... 2 blocks left to figure the rest out.

What you should try to do is get one of the blocks behind the switch in the center and then arrange the other blocks so one can be pushed toward the block behind the switch and onto the switch. Then use the remaining two blocks to get a block on the switch closest to the doors so you can go anywhere (Hint: use the same pattern as you did before you had three blocks to get the block on switch closest to the doors).

BTW, if you hate this puzzle then the trying to get one of the heart pieces is gonna be hell for you in the future ;)

Once you get up to the tower, drop down onto the ledge then use the (spoiler here, you cant get this chest unless you have done the 4th dungeon)
Spinner if you have it yet
on the little track, you should then be
spinning between the two towers constantly on the track, you need to time your spinner jump so you land on the pedastal with the chest on it

You chose vulnerable boss theme over queen Rutelo's theme? The vulnerable boss theme is the cheesiest and most annoying theme in TP. Rutelo's theme is epic and beautiful.
It's the
Serenade of Water
I am not including old tracks in the list unless they have been majorly modified in some way.

i forgot to mention this:

as many of you remember in the old 2nd trailer (TGS 2005) we see the LARGE skeleton soldiers and the large skeleton dogs.

in the final game we have small skeleton soldiers and large ones too (in different areas like the desert dungeon)....

but the skeleton dogs in the final game are SMALL, like the small skeleton warriors.

they should've had large skeleton dogs like in the 2nd trailer and pictures.

I kinda get the feeling Nintendo recorded a limited amount of orchestrated music, but removed it because they felt they couldn't get it to gel with the MIDI stuff. It seems really odd to me that they have music made for stuff like trailers that they never used in the game.
Most definitely

The NP Soundtrack has a track called 'Orchestrated Piece #2', which implies more...

They are as big as Link which is how big they were in the 2nd trailer.
