Official Lemmings PS3 thread

one of my absolute favorite puzzle games of all time

unfortunately, I picked up a Lemmings "compilation" that included Lemmings Paintball.

Why, God, why?

It turns out I'll buy anything for $3. I'm not even a big Lemmings fan.

I bought it too only cause it's $3. I like Lemmings but not $6 like :lol

Looks like I know where my sweet price point is

This is the only puzzle game I've beaten, or am even decent at. Just a lot of fun. I ought to make a soundtrack of it..the game had some great tunes (one of which I heard on the radio yesterday). Simple concept but very addicting. Screw you level 13 on Tricky (or whatever level Lemming Drops was).

I just had to buy this, especially considering it's only $2.99! It's my first paid purchase of a downloadable game for a video game system.

There's a demo available, also, but I didn't even bother with it since I'm already a big Lemmings fan, and $2.99 is a bargain anyway. I just jumped right into the purchase! :)

I caved in and bought it, disappointed that I had to add a minimum of $5 to the wallet.

Yeah, I have a gripe about that as well. I don't understand why you're forced to add credit to the wallet in $5 increments. It's like "buying cards" without actually buying cards--which I thought this was supposed to get away from.

I saw you (or someone using the name Wario64, anyway) on one of the worldwide high score lists already. :)

I only tried a few levels so far, and I'd say it's great! The gameplay formula is mostly straight from the original Lemmings playbook, but they did add a few twists to spice it up.

The "tokens" depicting Lemming abilities serve exactly the purpose that I imagined it would when I first spotted them in the early screenshots--that is, they add 1 more use of that ability to your existing inventory. One of the very early levels on the Fun skill level demonstrates this, as you start with absolutely no assignable tasks in your inventory, and must accumulate them throughout the level. There are also a few other new gameplay elements, such as teleporters, cloning machines, and darkened levels that are (at least partially) illuminated when a passing Lemming turns on a light.

It's easily a must-have download for longtime Lemmings lovers, but even neophytes can find something to like here, especially with the low price.

Psygnosis? They were only the publisher of Lemmings. DMA Designs made Lemmings, who later became Rockstar North (who is doing quite well due to the massive success of the GTA series).

Either way, Sony owns them and its one of the reasons you won't see Lemmings on the Nintendo DS for instance.

The game is quite lovely, I must say. The visual style is very much like the PSP game, but the high resolution, 60 fps, and 3D backgrounds covered in depth of field are really slick.

Not quite true. You have to add a MINIMUM of $5 to your wallet, but beyond that, any value will do.

Isn't Lemmings a bit like Pikmin 2d ot that other game, worms? Never played any of these, really.

Is there videos for this anywhere? I've seen the image, and don't like the new style they've chosen for the Lemmings. It's like they're made of vector objects in flash. Backgrounds looked nice, but a bit too Worms-2-esque. I like what they did for Lemmings PS2 / PSP though.

I was charged tax..it probably depends on your address.

I also will take another opportunity to complain about the delay in Sony applying the $2.99 price to this..when it first went up, it was $5.99 (the price I bought it at :( ). It probably wasn't long before they changed the price, but it should have been done before it went online at all.

Anyhow, I look forward to playing more in between some Wii when I get home :)

edit - also, about having to add a minimum amount to your wallet - I believe you can pay as you go, and pay only the amount a game costs, no?

Alright im absolutely addicted to this game I cant stop playing it!

Does anybody know if once I have set a guy up to be a blocker if I can take that ability off him? Or is he permenantly a blocker?

Anybody notice this game runs @ 720p? Atleast for me it does. I guess they didnt go with 1080p for the scale of the game? I mean it runs perfectly smooth, I see no other reason it wouldnt be 1080p.

You can't really remove an ability, but you can find ways to do it sometimes. For example, you can use a miner to cut under them, depending on what surface they are on, and they will start walking again.

If you go to the game's details, before downloading, and scroll down it says something like "supports all display resolutions up to 720p" or something.
At 230MB, I'm guessing having 2d art at 1080p would have inflated the file size quite a bit more.

I don't think they would have a big problem with a larger file size (considering there are much bigger games to download). I think it's kinda how lemmings might be made. Increasing the resolution would mean the stuff would have to be stretched out more or more art would have to be made to fit in there? I dunno, maybe I'm just thinking too hard on it. :p Not a big deal, it looks pretty dang good already. :)

I experience noticeable overscan on my tv for this game. Thankfully they have screen resizing options in the options menu, but they don't save these changes into your profile it seems.

Wow, if Sony can consistantly offer cheap gaming with their game store, I will be itching to get a PS3. I haven't gotten anything for VC or XBLA due to price, but $5.99 for PS1 games and $2.99 for Lemmings is a great service to gaming.

I still can't get over the price. Cell phone games cost more than that!

I assume they'll be sellling level packs and the like. Still, this seems like the good side of microtransactions.

Well, finished the first 30 levels. Shows me as #1 for all the Taxing levels currently (but according to my ranking screens no one else has finished Taxing levels 3-10, just the first two). Dunno if that's accurate, but rankings do show up fully for the easier difficulty levels, so *shrug*.

Mayhem #9 is a bitch. One of those levels where there would be 2-3 different avenues to completion if I only had one more tool. And it requires 100/100 with no cloning vat, yet they give you a blocker, argh!

Might just stop there, getting a bit too frustrated. If those charts are right, looks like I'm the first person to complete most of the Mayhem levels in addition to the first to finish 3-10 of Taxing. I'll give someone else the honor of cracking 9 and 10 of Mayhem ;b

I dont know about you guys but I'm considering the PSP version after putting some time into the PS3 version...I forgot how fun Lemmings is

Why are Sony consoles the only place to find Lemmings???

I guess despite losing GTA4 exclusivity, Rockstar North still has a soft spot for Sony.

Are you sure about that? When I went to buy yesterday, it prompted me with a drop-down menu asking to select values like $5, $10, $15, and $100. I tried clicking on it to see if I could manually enter a value, but it only gave me the drop-down options.

The Lemmings franchise was owned by Psygnosis (the publisher), and Psygnosis was purchased by Sony many years ago. As a result, Sony owns the rights to Lemmings.

Also, DMA Design/Rockstar North hasn't programmed any of the recent versions of the game. The PSP, PS2, and PS3 versions were all developed by Team 17 (developer of Worms, among other games).

Yep, same here, downloading it as I type... I never bought a thing on XBL yet, Geometry Wars demo was good enough for me...

Damn, I've dropped from #3 to #4 on the first map at the Fun difficulty!!!*cries on pillow*

I doubt the 53 sec record will be beaten for awhile, it's hard enough to even get under 55 sec.

That happens normally. It's wierd but when I bought Crash and went back it was gone.
Oh yeah? So this isn't a mistake then. Holy shit that's so awesome. If Sony continues this level of competitive pricing I'll pretty much buy everything on the store just to show them this is how you do digital downloads. Damn I'm really loving the PS3; hell of a lot more than I did the PS2 at this point in its life.

Is it still $2.99? Pretty odd if they still haven't corrected it, IGN clearly said it was gonna be $5.99

can anyone help me?

I pretty much blew through Tricky, except for one ****ing level that has absolutely stumped me: A Thing Called Lem.

Damnit!!!

Great game, though. I wish we had more 2D games with this quality resolution/graphics/effects/whatever. :D

That level is stumping me too. I guess there's a reason why only 3 people only completed it (last time I checked today, only 3 people were on the scoreboards for that level)

And there is a manual in the game, liars :P
I saw your name on one of the high score time lists.

Actually you can only add $5, $10, $25, $50 and $150 increments.

Hey Kittonwy did you see me at number 9 on that same level. I tried to beat your score all night but failed. :(

Your 54 seconds is just too damn hard to get down to. >:(

Yep yep. I saw you there. Good job!!!

I was stuck at about 55+, and most times 57-58 even though I thought I was doing everything I can, but there's actually a bit of a trick to this, it's not just being fast, it's about using all the tools in your disposal. :P

OMG I've done it!!! 53:70!!! I'm NUMBER ONE!!!111!!!11!!!
