Overly fragile or Microsoft never had time to test them over extended periods of usage. Think about it, they went from paper to assembly line in like three months. I don't think they had enough time to test these things to see if they would hold up over repeated use.
I got one in April and it was dead by May. Sadly, it was like 6 days outside the refund window at Circuit City, so I had to wait over 2 weeks to get a replacement that's been functioning terribly since and has scratched up Madden and Burnout for me. It's such a hassle complaining though, so I dunno what to do.
Circuit City doesn't keep the serial number on the receipt. Should've made like those Target goers, bought another one, and returned the defective unit.

That seems kinda sketchy to me in general, but don't these places think it's weird for someone to buy a unit and then return it the next day for a refund rather than a new unit?
Our Xbox 360 got repaired after the red rings of death. After return al the bleedin savegames where gone. Including the countless of hours that I spend developing my character in Oblivion. I guess there is no change for the original data to be copied back to the new HDD but I kinda expect Microsoft to compensate for it. It's pissing me off that the people responsible expect me to just take it in my stride.
Are there people here that have tried getting something from Microsoft in this crappy situation?
