I don't get why people want to carry a purse around. I only use a backpack when going to class for books.

I see the appeal. At some point, you're out of school. You still have stuff. Where do you put it? Most people don't wear backpacks after school because they don't want to appear to be school age any more.

Anyone that would spend 1300$ on a bag, male or female, has more money than sense. There is a certain type that likes massively overpaying for things, for a sense of exclusivity that I just don't understand.

I have black leather bag that I got from H&M, it can look very manly but it also can look and feel very much like a purse... a quality I quite enjoy. *heh*

I would never buy a $6k+ bag, let along a $1330 however, due to this problem I have with actually having respect for money and a realistic concept of value.

You should post a pic or find one imo!

People don't wear backpacks because they look tacky as shit, not because they don't want to look like a student.

This thread is bag and you should feel bag.

But on a serious note what's wrong with using a backpack? That guy was right--they are more utilitarian for someone who needs to haul a lot of stuff. And spreading the weight over both shoulders is better for you.

Utilitarian and style are pretty much polar opposites. Gotta break some eggs to look good.

OTOH there's a pretty huge gap between carrying 20 lbs of books and having too much stuff to fit into your pockets. My lappy + junk weighs in around 4 or 5 lbs. Doesn't make my shoulder fall off.

What stuff are you talking about? I have a cell phone, keys, a wallet and an ipod. My pockets take care of that.

I could barely fit that into my pockets, let alone adding any of the other kinds of stupid consumerist bullshit people carry around now.

Laptop, books, drinks, videa games,
droogs
, etc etc

You could barely fit that? What?

Cell phone front right pocket, ipod front left pocket, wallet back right pocket, keys back left pocket. You really can't fit that?

I wear sexc pants, and I like not sitting on my keys.

I'd just like to say, in a world where you've got 300 dollar cell phones, audio players, game doohickeys, bottled water and all sorts of stuff we carry around everyday, it's a definite necessity to have a bag.
Bottled water? They scammed you twice.

I have a Logitech Kinetik -

fits my Macbook Pro + cables + mouse + lunch with ease, and it's hard casing so things don't get squashed. I attached a heap of reflective tape to the back of it and use it when scooting to work . I'm lit up like a christmas tree :D It's light, barely a scratch on it, the stitching is really heavy duty and the straps are awesome.

Well, my usual load is: keys, wallet, iPhone, chap stick, maybe iPhone headphones.

What I'd prefer to have on me at all times: all of the above, basic "just in case" medications (aspirin, pepto tablets, cough drops, etc.), pen, notebook, tissues, hand lotion (I'm pretty much OCD about washing my hands, and I hate how they feel afterward if I don't have lotion), sunglasses, flashlight, digital camera, and various other things.

I'm basically the type that feels far more comfortable when I have a set selections of things with me in case things come up. Having an iPhone has really helped me feel better about going out with just the first selection of stuff, but if I had my choice, I'd carry the second set of stuff with me at all times.

AusGaf's "bag of crap" thing was cooler!
Indeed!

This is what I rock at the moment, a FairTrade bag from CRC in India:

I also have a small day backpack that I use separately from my travelpack a lot. Basically this one, but the daypack is just grey on grey.

I have a Ben Sherman cheapo fake black leather one that I like. There was an amazing Ralph Lauren Purple Label bag on Gilt that sold out that I wanted desperately.. it was $200 on sale but I would buy it in a heartbeat if they ever put it back up.

Primarily black + grey Timbuk2 Classic Messenger (Small). The material is very sturdy, the liner is waterproof, and it looks good. My girlfriend has the medium. It is monstrous and way inappropriate for someone who only likes to carry the necessities (me). Bought during year-end sale last year shortly after moving to the Bay Area. Makes me feel like a lifelong local whenever I get on BART and see 500 other people with the same bag.

Oh, wow. Is that one big enough to hold a netbook?

Not this one but they have a fairly wide range of models for that. There even might be a bigger version of the one I linked.

They're a bit pricey but when you hold them you immediately know why. After a year of daily intensive usage, the leather barely shows any scratch and I've yet to see a single thread unsewn...

I only need my bag when I'm carrying one of my laptops and then I use a bog-standard Victorinox like this...

Victorinox%20laptop-0801%20bag%20blk%20sd.jpg

I swear, I do have style, I just can't bring myself to care about bags. I like the bag in the OP but not $1300 like. Most of the time I'm only carrying iphone, keys, wallet & cigarettes anyway.

@OP $1,330... jesus wept. I couldn't justify spending that much on a bag even if I really wanted the bag. The guilt that would consume me moments after purchase would be horrific!

The most useful item I've ever got from a collectors edition. I've been using this since GTA IV's release. Suprisingly holds quite a lot. It's done me well.

I've got the Bauer Sack and a Chrome bag I bought last year. The Chrome bag is my main bag for school/projects/rainy days whatever, but I take the bauer sack out if its a nicer warmer day and I'm carrying light. The Chrome bag definitely keeps my back in check :D

Applies to the Chrome bag dude. Lifetime warranty and all that. I've never met anyone who's had to get a bag replaced. Just the one messenger that got into a wreck and his bag got tore up in the accident.[/QUOTE]

What size did you get for your chrome bag?

Okay? That's definitely one perspective. Though I don't think I've ever heard of a dude complain about something looking "tacky."
