The judge presiding over the Vick case is U.S. District Court Judge Henry Hudson, a former prosecutor who was appointed to the federal bench by President George W. Bush in 2002.

"I love the trials before Judge Hudson, but I hate the sentences," observed one experienced and highly regarded Richmond defense lawyer. "He will let you try your case, he will give you every chance to offer a defense, but if you're convicted, you will be facing serious problems at sentencing."

The lawyer, who requested anonymity because of a possible involvement in Vick's defense, explained that Hudson takes a unique approach to the guidelines that are a part of sentencing decisions in federal courts throughout the U.S.

"Most judges start at the minimum and move up or down in small increments. Judge Hudson starts at the midpoint of the guidelines spectrum and moves toward the maximum. The result can be surprisingly harsh."

Hey Texans, stop taking ex-Jags!

You saying the Texans signed Keenan McCardell? If so he belongs in Houston, hell he was born there :)

Anyone else find it odd how on the Raiders, ESPN would constantly talk about Randy Moss being overrated and a cancer in the locker room, but on the Pats he's suddenly a dep threat and a monumental weapon?
ESPN blows.

Tip: Don't watch it! :P

The Antichrist had his Whore of Babylon.

Tom Brady has ESPN.

Same difference!

Next season's superbowl will be the Giants vs the Dolphins. The giants will be there because they are my team and the fish will be there because they will have next seasons mvp and comeback player of the year.

Goodell bans Vick from training camp:

The first of what could be a handful of actions taken against Michael Vick by the commissioner's office has been decided.

Commissioner Roger Goodell has ordered the Atlanta Falcons quarterback not to attend the team's training camp as his first step in determining Vick's future in the league. That would give the league office more time to assess the facts and judge additional facts that may come to light in the next month.

"While it is for the criminal justice system to determine your guilt or innocence, it is my responsibility as commissioner of the National Football League to determine whether your conduct, even if not criminal, nonetheless violated league policies, including the Personal Conduct Policy," Goodell said in a letter to the quarterback.

So what the **** is up with Fantasy Football guys? I've spent all off-season waiting to avenge my playoff snub last year(due to crappy ass yahoo sports reporters saying Nahje Davenport would get alot..causing me to dump Veron Haynes who I had picked up due to injuriesand pick up Davenport ..needed one point(10 rushing yards) to win my game.... ND didn't even play and Veron amassed like 3 fantasy points that game... I tied that game and woulda been in the playoffs if I had won.).

Marc Bulger-QB- Rams Jul. 23 - 7:17 pm et

The agent for Marc Bulger will meet with Rams officials on Tuesday, according to Adam Schefter of the NFL Network.

Talks are ongoing but will be face-to-face beginning then. Bulger's agent, Tom Condon, is also involved in the negotiations surrounding Brady Quinn.

good, lets get this thing DONE already. pay the man his money.

I'm kind of excited. I'm getting tickets to the Pack @ Vikings game in September. It'll be my first NFL game, and I'll get to see part of the Favre Farewell Tour. Seeing as it's week 4 I could very well see Favre pass the TD and/or wins mark. That would be really awesome.

Although I imagine he'll throw 3 INTs, 100 yards passing, go out of the game with a concussion, and All Day will run up 340 yards on the Pack.

i hope the packers make the playoffs so we can see favre one last time and send his sorry ass packing to the retirement home.

I don't understand this move. Like Nameless said, players have said that they hate camp, but at the same time, how the heck do they expect the Falcons to be competitive without their starting QB taking any reps? Can he even play in pre-season games? Actually, HOW could he play in pre-season games without attenting camp...?

BTW, someone please buy the Texans a camera that's better than the one they have now. All the money they spent on Cousin David, and all they could afford was a shitty 1.3 megapixel Kodak camera.

Preseason games are a part of training camp so the ban would include those as well thus the reason Vick was told that he would still receive his preseason pay.

don't worry, there are tons of other guys who can't throw for shit for you to root for.

Yeah I know. Rocket arm - drunk ass precision. I still think he has been the most exciting player to watch since he came into the league.

The Falcons are having a press conference at 4pm (EST) to talk about their plans for Vick I'm assuming. At this point I'm preparing myself to be ready for Harrington to be our starting QB for the season. :(

Like the Falcons were gonna get more than 7 wins with Vick anyway. I'd be stoked if I were you. Joey will surprise you!

Probably not. Sucks to be a Falcons fan! :lol

A healthy C-Pep with a decent line could be a top 10 QB in the league.

And if he isn't top 10, you'll be there to make excuses for him.

I think we can all agree that he has the most choreographed and lame QB TD celebration of all time.

MaestroRyan said:
No, it's guaranteed. If C-Pep starts 16 games this season and doesn't put up top ten stats I will cut off my testicles.

What are "top 10 stats?"

We need to set some guidlines here. Oh, and if you do have to remove your boys, are you going to get those fake plastic ones they give to dogs?

tmdorsey said:
Bah, Culpepper is pretty much worthless without Moss.
Like Maestro said, Culpepper's best season from '04 came mostly with Nate Burleson, Marcus Robinson and Jermaine Wiggins. Moss had 700 so yards, but did have 13 TD's.

So I don't think Atlanta goes into the season with Harrington, Redman, and Shockley.

Who do they bring in: Culpepper, Brunell, Kelly Holcomb?

Hey, after training camp, Tim Hasselbeck will be available...

MaestroRyan said:
You're stupid. C-Pep's best year came when Moss only contributed 700 something yards. He sucked the year after because of injuries and a shitty offensive line (no birk). In Miami he couldn't get it done because Saban rushed him to return to get some value out of the trade. A healthy C-Pep with a decent line could be a top 10 QB in the league.

Moss was on the field wasn't he? Moss demands at least 2 defender's attention at all times when he's on the field. Culpepper was able to easily take advantage of this to find Burleson who probably was single covered most of the time. Without Moss, Culpepper regularly holds on to the ball too long or is indecisive with his throws, at least from what I've seen.

Vick suspended by Falcons? I missed the start of the press conference but all I hear now is Blank talking "suspension." Maybe he means the training camp ban...

Now he's saying 4-game suspension...pre-season? Either way, Vick ain't gonna start Week 1....

MaestroRyan said:
and when moss comes into the game and the announcers, coaches, opposing coaches, and teammates all say "he's struggling/limping" he's not going to demand double teams.

Case in point: Gimped-Moss beats Al Harris for the game winning TD in the 2005 Playoffs, who had no over the top help. Joe Buck is outraged.

I hope Vick plays vs. the Giants this year when they meet on MNF. Vick/Pierce don't seem to get along, and Pierce spoke out about Vick's dogfighting allegations not too long ago.

In the games Moss was absent in '04 (played hurt often in other times)

vs. TEN: 24/30, 183 yards, TD

vs. INDY: 16/19, 169 yards, TD

vs. GB: 27/44, 363, 4 TD's

vs. DET: 22/32, 233 yards, 2 TD's, INT

So, all in all, he threw 8 TD's to one pick in Moss' absence.

Word is, Falcon and Steelers have both talked to Aaron Brooks.

AWESOME!

yeah, considering i've watched most of his career i probably have no idea what i'm talking about

Now you see how I feel when people talk about Vick's game.

Ok, I will concede that as a Vikings fan you probably know better than I do, but from what I've seen from Culpepper post '04 and before he got hurt, he's not the same QB and it's funny that it comes after he no longer has Moss as a decoy. Honestly, I would rather take my chances with Harrington or even Shockley.

Was Ray Lewis ever charged/indicted in that murder case and did he play during the season with those charges over his head?

I think he pleaded down to a lesser charge.

He was initially charged with murder, but it was reduced to obstruction of justice. The incident took place around the 2000 Super Bowl, and the trial was over by June, IIRC.
