Possibly. He HAS given up on Eli after all. Right before his make-or-break season. But remember Wellington is a supporter of "The Hefty Lefty"

Asante wants to seek a trade if the Pats dont sign him long-term:lol

Have fun with Hobbs as your #1
I hope they get cheap with him and let him go to another team for some 2nd round picks that turn out to be big busts.

Please let this happen.

nate clements indirectly ****ed the patriots

Samuels should be pissed. I have a feeling had they both been available we would've went after Samuels first. He wouldn't have gotten 80million, but he would've gotten a lot more than he is going ot make next year under the tag.

We'll give you a 3rd round pick, 5th round pick, and Justin Smiley for Samuels Pats~

Anyone else have this "NFL Release Schedule Special" on ESPN right now? It's just some fools playing Madden. I want to know the schedule, damnit!

Oh, and check this out: I've been a diehard Niners fans since Steve Young took over in the early 90s. Before that, I was just a naive kid who thought football was boring. Problem? I grew up in Detroit only to move to Chicago a decade ago. Very far away from my favorite team. I've seen them in person a dozen times (Detroit, Chicago, Green Bay, New Orleans) but never at home.

Now? I live a short trek from Candlestick Park. Just moved a few months ago from Chicago to the Bay Area. Of course I'm seeing the Niners as soon as I can. I've been crossing my fingers all off season that they would start at home. None of that Week 1 road crap. I want to be in the stands and cheer my boys from the very beginning.

Anyone else see the opening schedule yet? Niners start at home against the Cardinals... on Monday Night Football! I'm so pumped! I haven't been to a 49ers MNF game since 1995, when god damned Doug Brian missed a FG at the buzzer that would have tied the game.

All that and I get to boo Barry Bonds within ear shot this season. Life is good in the Bay.

That would be because the schedule release was delayed

I guess that's why Mike and Mike in the Morning is on now...

When will it be announced? And how the hell was this delayed anyway?

Not even a week in and I can't take this shit anymore. Everytime I turn to ESPN they are either talking about Baseball or talking about Golf--and every now and then they may be talking about Nascar. ZOMG!! Why hasn't Time Warner picked up NFL Network!!?

And my roomate and friends wonder why I sit there and watch all 12 some-odd hours of draft coverage over draft weekend. Its because I need to absorb every ounce of football leading into sports hell when theres NOTHING but Baseball, Gold, Tennis and Nascar, as doing so barely prevents me from shoving a screw driver through my brain.

I mean jeez ESPN, Mazuakai won his first game, out of like 30 starts.. get off his ****ing nuts. Gah! Fox, CBS, ESPN, and NBC should previous NFL season from scratch during the off-season.. I would watch each game like I never saw it before.

Some of my friends know not even to call me that weekend. I plan that ahead of time :lol

And I never thought about switching carriers for a channel, but this is seriously making me do it. Our TWC JUST got ESPN2 HD yesterday, so my hopes aren't exactly high for NFL Network to be popping up anytime soon. At least then I could watch NFL Europe.

Oh yeah, hadn't seen this anywhere either. Apparently Devin Hester's gonna have a 100 speed rating in Madden 08: (Link)

What about soul crushing defeats of the Niners (meaning the majority of their games for God knows how long)? Would you watch replays of those as well?

Report: Carr agrees with Panthers
The Charlotte Observer reports tonight that free-agent QB David Carr has agreed to terms with the Carolina Panthers.

What? It's only been 4 years really, plus the 99 and 00 seasons. Over the last 25 years, that's not a bad ratio compared to a lot of other teams.

I just don't consider that span a long period of time I guess.

I think Carr to Carolina is a good move... gives him some time to exist within the system, and then the opportunity to become the starter if he can prove he hasn't been shellshocked beyond sanity after his time in Houston.

I think Delhomme is fine, but he's a few years older and I don't think he's as good as Carr has the potential to be.

Johnson said he is optimistic Carr will succeed wherever he lands. When Johnson looks back at his first few years with Carr under coach Dom Capers' staff, he says it seems Carr was never set up to succeed.

"I think (the problem) was the way he was coached my first couple of years here," Johnson said. "He was pretty much just told where to throw the ball. And a lot of people didn't know that. He was never really taught to go through reads and stuff like that.

"Coach (Gary) Kubiak came in, and that was his big thing — teaching him how to go through reads. So it was like he was taught all over again."

also, some wonderlic scores from this year's draft class

Best 10 scores

2. Anthony Pudewell, TE, Nevada (39)
3. Kody Bliss, PK, Auburn (38)
T-4. Jon Cornish, RB, Kansas (37)
T-4. Brandon Harrison, S, Stanford (37)
T-6. Scott Chandler, TE, Iowa (36)
T-6. Daniel Sepulveda, PT, Baylor (36)
T-6. Jared Zabransky, QB, Boise State (36)
9. Jordan Kent, WR, Oregon (35)
10. John Beck, QB, BYU (34)

Worst 10 scores
T-1. David Irons, CB, Auburn (4)

Justin Blalock is a beast and is from my hometown. He should go in the first round or early second round. I hope the Cowboys are interested in an offensive lineman.

How is that any different from Jake Delhomme? Have you seen him the last two seasons? Open or not, that ball is going to Steve Smith. Carr will be the starter early or the Panthers will suffer through another mediocre season.

That could explain why Carr was sacked so much. If Andre Johnson wasn't open, it was time to just take a sack and try again next down.

Even though it's obvious, I found this quote funny when I was checking bengals news. It kind of comes up out of nowhere.

Yep. I used to love putting Troy Williamson in the slot in '06 and running a drag route with him. He's either end up covered by a LB (lol!) or a nickel corner. Cheeze-its.

65% drop pass rate.

Yeah, but don't you go through reads in college?

I'm sure that NFL defenses are a lot more complex than your average SEC set. Still, as much as the Texans mismanage other aspects of their team, I wouldn't be suprised at all if they're coaching was suspect as well. Aside from Robinson, Ryans, Johnson, and maybe one or two other standout draft picks, they haven't done much at all to 'coach anyone up'.

The coaching staff before Kubes took over was throwaway bullshit. I wouldn't want them coaching my local high school team. So in that regard, you are right.

Kris Jenkins on the trading block...http://charlotte.com/141/story/77146.html

I dunno how to feel about this. On one hand, he made a great comeback from multiple knee injuries to go to the Pro Bowl last season. But considering we signed Ma'ake Kemoeatu and Damione Lewis last offseason and also have Jordan Carstens, I wouldn't mind parting with Jenkins, but only for the right price. A few proposals I've heard floating around are Redskins trading their first for Jenkins and Carolina's first and the Rams trading their first for Jenkins. I wouldn't mind either of those deals, but these are just proposals, not even rumors.

Dollars to donuts he doesn't have the fastest 40 time in the NFL.

40 times are for lazy scouts. It is about how fast a player is on the field. Have you seen Hester play? His agility and speed should both be near 100. And his hands should be a solid 3. Dude has to learn how to hang on to the football.

It sounds like even if the bengals get a shot at Lawrence Timmons or Posluzny (or however you spell that guy's name) they're going to start Ahmad Brooks at MLB this coming season. provide Odell controls his alcoholism he may get reinstated by June and could play too. so I'm not as worried now about the lack of free agent moves.

Then on the bad news, it sounds like Justin Smith's going to do all he can to be traded... then again, **** him. He was a good player but not brilliant, and got outdone by Robert freaking Geathers, so if they know they can get Odell back they may just draft the best DT available.

So you're saying that a guy that does not have the fastest 40 time in the league should still be the only one in a sim football game with the 100 speed rating?

Right.

Joey harrington apparently being signed to back up Michael Vick. Now that's a quick way to get the bench Vick people to shut up.:lol
