I saw that report too. I wonder why Denver released him? He always seemed like a freaking beast on the inside for them.

there was something significant about that 1991 season for Redskins fans. I think deep down they all had these weird emotions about their previous two super bowl seasons being strike shortened, then for the third, it was not only a full season but a dominant one as well. The hangover lasted at least ten years for the fanbase.

He has an injury concern. Hence why he's not a Giant (failed a physical last month). His injury also scared away the Lions in the package they had together back in February.

His career is in jeopardy.

Giants signed QB Anthony Wright. Wahoo! :lol

Eh, he got some years ahead of him. His injury isn't nearly as bad as everyone thinks. Denver released him because they need to clear cap room. *Cough* Kris Jenkins *Cough*

Exactly. Thats why Casey Hampton and Jamal Williams are considered two of, if the the top two defensive tackles in the league, yet you'll rarely see either of them record over 5 sacks in a given year.
 
Yeah Marcus Stroud and Big John Henderson are one of the best pairs of Defensive Tackles in the game and their stats suck. It's all about what you can do to disrupt the offense or to close gaps.

Stats don't mean much, you're right, but Robbins was the Giants best defensive player all year.

Jenkins performed under his normal level of play and even had Peppers lining up on his line.

Robbins played with two rookies and his two Pro Bowl DE's were absent for 8 games.

I hate to say this, but these two guys--especially Stroud--take a lot of plays off.

The New Orleans Saints signed a pair of free agents Friday, picking up linebacker Troy Evans and tight end Calen Powell. Both players signed two-year contracts with the club. The signings were announced by Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis. Evans is a five-year NFL veteran, having played all five seasons of his career with the Houston Texans, primarily as a special teams standout. The Cincinnati, Oh. native and product of the University of Cincinnati has played in 72 career games, including all 16 contests in 2006, collecting 28 tackles on defense and 69 more on special teams.

The 6-3, 238-pound linebacker has also recovered two fumbles in kick coverage and recorded an interception on defense over the span of his career. Evans, 29, originally signed as a rookie free agent with the St. Louis Rams in 2001 and spent a portion of that season on their practice squad before joining Houston in 2002.

Powell is a 6-5, 257-pound tight end who has spent time in the camps of both the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Redskins. Collegiately, the Bellevue, Wa. native was a standout performer for the Duke Blue Devils from 2001-04. Powell played for the Cologne Centurions of NFL Europa in 2006, catching four passes for 48 yards on the season.

So it seems like every mock draft I have read has the Redskins taking one of the players I want the Falcons to draft. Redskins fans who do you see you guys taking with the 6th pick, and who do you guys want with the 6th pick?

Ronald Curry was always drafted as a WR, as was Bellisari a safety, coming out if I remember right, and David Garrard really could go either way depending on how Leftwich holds up. But yeah, the rest aren't so hot.

So, who would YOU like to take? You guys certainly could use some WR help, but unless you move up for CJ #7 may be a stretch for the other WRs on the board. I also think either Gaines Adams or Jamal Anderson would be good fits, but Gaines will probably be gone and Jamal is falling for some reason.


And I don't know one diehard fan that doesn't use "we" and "our" when referring to their team.

Brady's had very similar success to Montana's, and he was taken much later. It's about right.

They didn't even have Jerry Rice on the list. I was waiting for it: "In the first round of the 1985 NFL draft, Dallas had the 17th selection and San Francisco had the last (as Super Bowl champions from 1984). 49er coach Bill Walsh reportedly became enamored with Rice after watching highlights of Rice the Saturday night before San Francisco was to play the Houston Oilers on October 21, 1984. On draft day (April 30, 1985), the 49ers traded its first two picks for New England's first-round choice, the 16th selection overall (the teams also swapped third-round picks as part of the deal), and selected Rice before, as some report, the Cowboys were intending to take Rice."

Did you see his single-handed victory in the game against Tennessee? He scored almost all of the Titans' points for them to beat his own team. And it's not like it was a low-scoring game. I think it's pretty clear which way he goes.

Saved! :D I'm betting we take Landry, Adams, or Anderson, and I'm okay with all of those. I'd rather we take Quinn or Peterson, but I think we're going defense. I disagree with yo in that I think we desperately need help at DE. Udeze is a bust, and Erasmus is a rug burn away from ending his career.

If you think about it, it wouldn't be a bad move to get a new safety. Dwight Smith hasn't proven he deserves his spot, Greg Blue needs to work on coverage skills, and Doss is coming off knee surgery. Sharper can still play, but there's a lot of grey in his beard.

I actually wondered whether Rice should be on the list myself, but really, you can't give the 16th choice as one of the best steals of all time. They did make it the number 1 draft trade of all time though on another show, which fits.

When the player ends up being the best player of his generation and possibly of all-time, that should qualify as a steal. Hell, Michael Jordan at the 3rd pick should be considered a steal. :D

Damn, Odell is such a truck. I know he'll get hired out from under us one of these years. Bryant McFadden needs to keep working on PJ and steer him our way in 2008.
 
I don't know why people are ragging on Brady Quinn so much. IMO he is going to turn out to be a MUCH better prospect than Jamarcus Russell will be.
 
Or the fact we've all seen Quinn **** up in big games?! The ragging he gets is justified at the moment. The boy flexes those biceps any chance he can but can't throw a 10 yard out route(w/o over/under throwing). Simple as that.

First off, Quinn's supporting cast wasn't that strong. He had guys like Rhema McKnight and Jeff Samardjza but no other superstar players. He wins that game against USC if Bush doesn't push Leinart in the endzone, and yeah LSU beat them down but elite SEC teams pretty much beat down anyone not in the SEC or ACC.

I think Brady needs to go he Carson Palmer route. Sit for a year, learn the ropes, tone up his body a bit more, and then start his 2nd year. But Russell will be a bust. The raiders will be drafting Jimmy Clausen in 4 years.

How many superstars does he need on offense? It's a college team, not an allstar team.

Mcknight, Samardjza and Walker...more than enough for supporting cast. No idea about their offensive line but it was above average. Like woodchuck said, hes wilts under pressure, point blank.

Again that game against Mich. St, that game against USC in 05, and so forth, Quinn has come up big in plenty of games.

As far as help, you look at Russell he had three great WRs in Davis, Doucet, and Bowe. Smith had Ginn & Gonzalez, Booty had Smith and Jarrett. They all also had better defenses which affect field position and the amount of time your offense is stuck on the field. Not to mention your gameplay is shot when you're constantly playing from behind. Not to mention ND didn't have a consistent running game. For all intents and purposes Quinn was the whole FN show on either side of the ball, and he did pretty damn well under the circumstances.
 
I'll give you the USC 05 game. But Michigan State? come on. MSU was a worthless team. Has he even beaten a ranked team? Maybe Penn State, but I think that's it.
