#1 Reggie Nelson.

Goddammit Nelson better be there

I will ****ing cut the Panthers if they draft him first.

After that I guess Jarvis Moss, Ted Ginn or Eric Wettle.

I really hope all these new projections are accurate and the Panthers draft Greg Olsen in the first round. They haven't had a legit TE since Wesley Walls retired.

So who does everyone want to take draft day?

My top 3 I'd like to see in san fran.

1. Patrick Willis: Hard worker, great speed, great instincts, will final piece to a young LB core that could be the core of our D for the next 8 or so years.

2.Jamaal Anderson: Can line up multiple positions, amazing athelete for his size. Reminds me a lot of Richard Seymour.

3.Robert Meachem: Outside of CJ he is my favorite WR in the draft. Almost 6'3 over 200 pounds and still runs in the 4.3 range. Good route runner, with his frame he could get bigger and not lose any speed..He is going to be a beast.

i was kinda hoping for jamaal anderson myself. but i guess im fine with okoye or branch if they slip too.

I want the bengals to take either Jamaal Anderson, Branch/Okoye, or LaRon Landry or Leon Hall. Whichever one of those 5 is still available at the 18th pick.

no way landry falls out of the top 10, dude is a beast. this is a surprisingly deep draft though, so you might land one of the other dudes for your pick (probably not okoye either)

yeah, I doubt they'd get him either unless he just somehow goes into freefall like Leinart did.
Regardless, the bengals are kind of screwed this year when it comes to the draft since they can't trade up (unless someone really, really wants justin smith) but hopefully they can get someone who could start right away on the defense.

Been listening to Vic recently? :D

We draft at 7, so here's my Top 7 wish list.

#1 CJ
#2 Russel
#3 Adrian Peterson
#4 Gaines Adams
#5 Joe Thomas
#6 Quinn
#7 Landry

Hmm...

My first pick is obviously All Day, but he won't be there at 10.

so I'll go with this.

1) Laron Landry (that's a longshot too)
2) Omobi Okoye
3) Leon Hall
4) Reggie Nelson
5) Robert Meachem

I don't like any of the OT prospects other than Thomas in this years draft, even though that is a need I'd wait for next year or something. Weak draft for OT's this year.

http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/...pr18,0,130121.column?coll=bal-sports-football

Outside of the Super Bowl, there's more written and said about the NFL draft than any other sporting event in the country. And we haven't seen anything yet. The next 10 days will be an information tsunami of Wonderlic scores, 40-yard dash times and college stats.

All the while, the coaches and executives of your favorite teams will drop little hints about which players they might covet, which holes they might fill, which picks they might trade away.

To make our lives easier, I asked Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome how much of the news and info fans receive leading up to the draft is reliable and how much of it bunk.

"Probably 90 percent of it," he said with a smile, "is smoke and mirrors."

And there you have NFL draft hype summed up in fewer than 10 words, packaged perfectly between quotation marks.

....

"Nothing I said today will allow you to know what we're going to do at the draft," Newsome revealed after we'd scribbled furiously in our notebooks for the better part of an afternoon.

Realistically:

1. Patrick Willis (he'll be gone by 12 though)
2. Greg Olsen
3. Jamaal Anderson (if he falls)
4. Reggie Nelson
5. Ted Ginn, Jr.

how about klopfenstein or byrd and a 3rd round pick for jenkins. does that sound like something reasonable the panthers would accept? i really hope the rams wouldnt trade away any higher picks.

I still think Jenkins is worth at least a late 2nd rounder. He's played 4 full healthy seasons and missed two (both to freak injuries). The Colts gave up a 2nd round pick for Booger McFarland and he's just as "injury prone" as Jenkins is. Personally I'm holding out hope that the Redskins will trade us the 6th pick for Jenkins and our first rounder so we can lock up LaRon Landry, but I know that's a pipe dream. If we can't get at least a 2nd round pick for Jenkins, I'm hoping we keep him for the season and maybe he plays really well to start the season and gets moved before the trade deadline.

Here's something from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

But Pickett's departure now amounts to spilled milk. The Rams need another widebody in the middle and seemingly are down to two options:

— Selecting one in the draft.

— Trading for Carolina's Kris Jenkins.

Stout and strong, Jenkins is the prototype nose tackle. He was widely considered one of the league's best after making the Pro Bowl in back-to-back seasons (2002 and '03).

But shoulder and knee injuries limited him to five games total in the 2004 and '05 seasons. Jenkins later confessed to battling depression and drinking problems during part of that injury down time.

He bounced back last season, playing in all 16 games and registering 53 tackles and 3½ sacks. Jenkins made his third Pro Bowl, although some observers in Carolina felt he still hadn't regained his old form. One week ago, the Panthers let it be known that they would entertain trade offers for Jenkins, who like Pickett is only 27.

The Rams are interested. But what will it take to bring Jenkins to St. Louis? The Panthers are thought to be seeking at least a first-rounder. The Rams would jump at the chance to acquire Jenkins with a third-round pick. Perhaps the teams could meet in the middle — in the second round.

jenkins is too much of a risk to trade away an early second IMO.

i heard his best seasons werent even played at the NT position(which he played last year iirc)

a third and a player would sit better with me. draft day should be pretty exciting.

Sirius was reporting that rumours are coming up about the Saints talking to New England about Asante Samuel.

Probably to good to be true but god this would be great for the Saints, McKenzie and Asante opposite each other would be arguablly the best secondary in the NFC. McKenzie was golden last year and Asante is just getting better and better. Do it Micky Loomis! .

Come on home Asante, leave the clutch of the devil's team and come down to The Big Easy.

Nate Clements + Walt Harris + Shawntae Spencer >

I think the Panthers have a great group of cornerbacks (Ken Lucas, Chris Gamble [though he struggled a bit last season], and second round steal Richard Marshall), but our safeties are looking very very grim. Mike Minter is getting old and has already stated he's retiring after this season and Shaun Williams is a stop gap at best (and not a very good one at that). After those two, it's Nate Salley and Deke Cooper :/

Eh! we got the Cool Brees to carry us past you guys, Brees>>>>Smith. I will say suprisinglly your team was the one NFC team I really didnt pay any attention to for some reason last season, so I cant comment on the better secondary, but ours would easilly be up there if this happens.

I will give you all credit though, you are starting to look pretty scary, not sure if we play this year but if we do it will be like playing a whole other team.

NFL | Okoye admits to marijuana use
Wed, 18 Apr 2007 17:04:07 -0700

Nolan Nawrocki, of ProFootballWeekly.com, reports Louisville DT Amobi Okoye admitted during his NFL Combine interview that he has used marijuana, according to multiple sources who have watched the interview. Some teams who are aware of his admission have said they do not think it will affect his draft stock. Others are concerned about his work ethic, maturity level and fluctuations in weight.

NFL | G. Adams admits to marijuana use

Nolan Nawrocki, of ProFootballWeekly.com, reports Clemson DE Gaines Adams admitted during his NFL Combine interview that he has used marijuana, according to multiple sources who have watched the interview. " It should scare (teams), especially when you see how laid-back (Adams) is in his play," said one team official. "No one disputes the great physical ability. What is disputed is how passionate he is and how physical he is. Physically, from an athletic standpoint, he has all the tools. He is the No. 1 pass rusher in the draft, and I don't think many people would argue with that."

NFL | C. Johnson admits to marijuana use
Wed, 18 Apr 2007 17:02:40 -0700

Nolan Nawrocki, of ProFootballWeekly.com, reports Georgia Tech WR Calvin Johnson, during interviews at the NFL Combine, admitted to using marijuana, according to sources who have watched the interviews.

:lol :lol :lol

Sounds alot like a guy they had in their camp last year with a ton of potential and freakish ability. What ever happened to him?

Oh Yeah...

Thanks Mr. Childress!

Still bitter about that trade, huh? I cant blame you. Id be bitter if my team got robbed blind as well.

I wonder what it would take for the 49ers to nab Calvin Johnson. I know they have major needs on both lines and could use depth in just about every position... but I'd love to see an elite WR in SF again. Especially since I can actually see them in person now.

Pretty much. Nolan wouldn't give up a bunch of current & future picks last year to move up for Bush(we called the Saints, and their price was too high). So he damn sure won't do it for CJ. Don't get me wrong, I'd love for Calvin to be a Niner, but looking what the Bucs apparently had to give-up to move from #4 to # 1 or 2, the price for us to go from #11 would be too steep for ANY player.

We have the ammo to once again acquire a second 1st round pick and come away with a starter on each side of the ball. And I still say Meachem will be just a good of a prospect as CJ.

Attempting to address their biggest need before next weekend's draft, the New Orleans Saints reached agreement Thursday morning with Indianapolis' restricted free-agent cornerback Jason David on a four-year offer sheet.

The offer sheet will be signed Thursday afternoon and then presented to the Colts. It is expected to be the largest offer sheet signed during this offseason's free-agent signing period.

The Colts will have seven days to match the offer sheet that will be frontloaded, with most of the money included in years one and two of the deal. If they decline to match -- and it's going to be difficult for them to match -- the Colts would receive a fourth-round pick from the Saints.

But the Saints do not view that as a tremendous loss. They now have three fourth-round picks and, if they land David, would still be left with two.

http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story/10033511

So is he worth this? I heard the rumours about us going after Asante Samuel and was excited to say the least. How's this guy measure up? Its big money and seems it will pretty much mean were not gonna go after Asante unless the Colts match.

I like Jason David. He is only 24 and really emerged as a very good corner the last couple of years. He is only 5'8 but plays well above his size, an absolute steal for a 4th round pick. His best days are still ahead of him.

Yeah, he's really young and shows a lot of promise (from time to time). Tye Hill was 23 or 24 when he came out of the draft... Call it an early draft choice.

are you serious? did you not read my mad rhyme? i just nutted all over your face, dude, you'd better wipe that shit off before your man comes home.
:lol :lol

As for Jason David, depends. He's worth the risk of a 4th round choice (especially if it means Fred Thomas hits the bench), but in terms of dollars - we'll see.

does meachem...

1. Weigh 240 pounds?
2. Run a 4.35 40 yard dash?
3. Have hands carved out of pure gold?
4. Stand somewhere between 6'4.9'' and 6'5''?

1) No.
2) Yes
3) No, Platinum.
4) No. 6'2 and 6'4

I don't know why I forgot paul puszlozny (or however the hell you spell it, but I can learn it if I learned houshmandzadeh) in my list of guys I'd want the bengals to get. though, like Landry, he's not going to be available at the 18th pick anyway, and LB is actually one spot where I think the bengals don't need to draft.

I just hope they can finish top 15 in defense, cause they'll probably finish top 5 or even #1 overall in offense.

#1? not if bulger and SJAX have anything to say about it.

NFL | Dillon will retire

Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports free-agent RB Corey Dillon (Patriots) will retire.

Well so much for that...

Stephen Jackson has been SJAX longer than Steven Jackson has, but I think Steven Jackson should be the only one known as SJAX since Stephen Jackson kind of sucks.

jobber saying "JAX" in NBA threads automatically makes me want to rule in Steven's favor.
