I've missed most Jaguars games this year because I've had to work -- I'm glad as hell I could be at home for this one though!!

Yeah all those cocky Jaguar fans!
All 4-5 of them! Take that!

Hines Ward is a scumbag and I pray to God the Steelers lose in the most heart-breaking way possible.
3 cheers to God for making it happen.

After a few beers and some time to calm down I'd like to apologize. I was an asshole and will probably remain so for the rest of my life when it comes to anything competitive, I'm sure you will witness a few more meltdowns in the coming months. There were bad calls towards both sides but in the end it was still one of the better playoff games of the last few years. Congratulations
No more * :)
and good luck next week. My prediction still holds true though and no amount of calming down is going to change that :lol

There were bad decisions both ways. Get over it. Had the Jags lost, I'd have blamed it on the part of the game where we gave up lots of points and didn't move the ball at all. You should be manning up and blaming the game on what the Steelers let us do in the first half and your inability to get a first down at the end of the game.

Edit: Damn you and your timing! :D Now turn to the dark side and begin to support the Jags against the Pats!

Wow, what a horrible game for the Steelers.

Jags were the superior team and they stank it up so badly in the 2nd half that we almost stole it with some sexy play by Big Ben, but ultimately Tomlin turned into a gigantic pussy and gave the Jags the game right back.

Jags really deserved to win, but I don't think they are going to beat anyone else in the playoffs.

Some bad officiating, but you can't really blame any game on that and none of it really affected the game as the better team won in the end.

And hats off to Big Ben. You almost gave the game away, but at least you brought us back against a superior team and gave us the lead until our coach choked it away. Lets see what you can do next year if they surround you with a better team.

HarSon, grow up man. The Steelers choked the game away. Tomlin's stupid move going for 2 on 4th-and-12, the conservative/"playing-not-to-lose" playcalling once they got a 1-point lead.. If those were signs of what was to come when they played NE, they had no chance of winning. The Jaguars have the better chance of beating NE. If they could get over their playoff jitters, get some good play from Garrard, play agressive for 60 minutes(something they definitely didn't do tonight once they went up big early), and play physical who knows. Maybe we'll get some bad weather and a competitive game. I don't have much confidence in their coaching or experience though.

Anyway, we already seen Steelers vs Patriots this year, at least give us something new. I don't see any major improvements from the Steelers that would suggested they would have competed any better.

This is pretty much the game summed up correctly by a Steelers fan. It's too bad the Jaguars sucked so much in the 2nd half, or I would anticipating their divisional round game a lot more.

That's sucks Steelers lost. nice that they actually made a game of it though, glad we shut down Fred Taylor this time though, I can't wait till the day we cut Ike Taylor btw . So all I have now in my sports life is Pitt losing players left and right , Bulls sucking it up and a long season of losing from the Pirates :(

Tomlin held onto the ball and got sacked?

Believe it or not I'm pretty damn impressed with Ben Roethlisbergers play. I've never witnessed such a turn around in a single game, he went from Tommy Maddox to Terry Bradshaw in mere minutes. I really hope Ben Roethlisberger decides to stay a Steeler three years from now, he can honestly become an amazing Quarterback with a bit more experience and a competent offensive line.

I believe he means Tomlins inexperience and cockiness led to two missed 2-point conversion attempts.

iapetus said:
You could say that of anyone about to face the Patriots. :P
Even if they played the Colts. Not even sure they could beat the Chargers if that was somehow possible.

I mean the Jags are better than the Steelers and still barely won the game. They have no chance to beat a better team unless they really play a perfect game on special teams and defense. Basically unless they turn into the 2001 Pats.

Somehow I am not that upset about the game. I felt we deserved to lose when Tomlin turned into a gigantic pussy with the 3 runs with 2 minutes left. We punted like shit all night and the Jags drove down the field running the ball just one month ago to beat us.

Striker said:

Uh, I was talking about the play calling with 2 minutes left and a lead.

And Big Ben did the right thing there. He had to pray for a miracle because a sack was game over anyways so he tried to do something insane and hope for a missed tackle or something. I don't know how you can fault his play in the 2nd half. He threw 2 terrible INTs in the first half, but at the same time he was pressured like crazy all game. Most qb's (see Eli) do the same, but at least he pulled it together and brought us back too.

Striker said:

If I recall, with 2-3 minutes remaining, he ran it one play for 5. Another for squat. Then actually considers passing the ball on 3rd-and-5, but reveals his giant vagina instead by having Ben run it. This is before he decided to "open it up" at the 37 second mark.

Wait, I thought Arians was the O coordinator?! So how's this on Tomlin? I would think he trusts his coordinators decision.

A decision that big is always going to be in the hands of the Head Coach.

1 thought that I believe was one of the reasons why we lost, I can't remember how much time was left in the game but when it was like 3 and 5/6 and we did a QB sweep, that was by far a top 10 stupid play call that I have ever seen. Defiantly should have been a pass or if need be a run with Davenport not Roethlisberger.

Just like the qb gets all the credit or blame so does the head coach and deservedly so.

That is not a good sign if the head coach is not paying attention to what play is being called with the game on the line.

It would've been a good play if you were going for it on 4th, as it stood, it was EASY as hell to read. Hell, Ben probably would've been better on a regular pass play and scrambling if need be. But going 5 wide when you're trying to milk the clock.....

Good entertaining game, AFC style. But, the same problems that plagued the Steelers during the regular season plagued them tonight. No running game, helter skelter pass blocking, and special ed special teams. Ben made too many mistakes early but played like hell to make up for it. Here's the biggest problem...Tomlin and Arians got purely gutless. 3rd and 5, late in the game, chance to ice it and we get a QB draw. W...T...F?!?! Ben and the offense played their asses off to get back in the game and you call a QB draw...with 5 yards to go? You don't deserve to win. Pathetic play call. Let your QB that got you the lead try and salt it away with a throw, god dammit. And another thing Tomlin, again, how many times do I have to say it, Woodley should have been starting the game! Instead I have to sit and watch Clark fucking Haggans the horrible getting beat in coverage and not applying any pressure early in the game. Woodley comes in and lights it the fuck up. If Haggans is back in the Burgh next year, I'll scream. Oh, and Tyrone Carter, you got fucking juked by a 240 QB and then outrun. Yeah, that's good safety play.

Anyway, good game Jags. You made the plays at the right time to put enough points on the board. I don't really care who knocks the Pats off just as long as somebody does it. I'm thinking the Steelers may have taken too much out of the Jags for next week though. We'll see.

Yea I understand the coach/qb blame game if the game is lost/won. I agree it should have been a pass.(they were abusing Jax a good part of the night) But you're right, no way Tomlin puts Arians out to dry and has to take blame. So it is his fault but I'm sure we can read between the lines somewhat.

It was 3rd and 6 and Ben is not Michael Vick.

Our special teams is atrocious (to the point where we were glad for the Jags to start on the 40 yard line after MJD almost scored) and if we don't get first it was so obvious to every Steelers fan the Jags would get great field position and a decent chance to win. I was hoping that Del Rio would fuck it up by trying to win by passing (the same way we got back into the game), but unfortunately he is no Tomlin.

Really stupid, stupid decisions.

Wow you summed it up perfectly. I was screaming for Woodley all night (he seemed to be awesome everytime he got in). I was like WTF at Carter when he just stood around like a worthless asshole on the game winning play. And the 3rd and 5 was like lighting the I am a pussy signal. It really reminds me of Cowher when he was losing us games early in his career.

I actually think the Jags are talented enough to get a win in Foxboro, but I don't think the team, qb, or coach are mentally tough to get it done on the road in the playoffs. That was my ultimate impression of them after the game.

We need to blow up the offensive line and field a decent unit next year. We need to make some changes to the linebacking corps and defensive line and we should be pretty good if we add one more weapon on offense on top of that.

We need to get a S to play beside Troy, perhaps I undervalued Ryan Clark. but I do know that I overvalued Anthony Smith, dude can't cover worth shit and isn't Tyrone Carter Edit: i'm wrong but he still sucks... We defiantly need to start Woodley next year and this off season we need to get players that actually can play STEAMS, I fear what I our line will be like next year after we lose Faneca this offseason.

Faneca didn't play all that well this year to be honest with you. Not sure what the deal with him was. No one was really all that great on our O line.

And yeah A. Smith sucks balls, but the biggest flaw in our defense is our defensive line. We don't pressure people and we couldn't even stop the run at the end of the year. We need to get some beasts back there. I actually think our secondary was the only solid part of the defense this year. A few big plays by Smith doesn't mean our secondary sucks. They just need to learn how to catch.

And yes, Arians needs to go. F'in moron.

We need a healthy Aaron Smith, never knew he was a main factor in our run stopping ability. I never said our secondary sucked but imo other godly Polamalu the rest are average at best , quite shocked we finished so high. Speaking of Faneca, I think this is the beginning of the end of his career and I'm going to laugh at who ever throw 40+ million at him

Actually, I'm lobbying for a new OC, special teams coach and offensive line coach. I doubt we'll see that much turnover on Tomlin's staff, but I think all three deserve to be fired....tomorrow.

Eh I disagree. I really feel our secondary is one of the best in the NFL. No one can cover forever without pressure up front and our guys simply don't get any pressure. Get our secondary some average pressure up front and they will shut down most passing attacks.

I feel Troy has been average ever since Chris Hope left. He was the perfect compliment to Troy's style of gambling.

Got to love bitter Steelers fans. Tomlin threw all those picks and played horrible special teams. It had nothing to do with the actual players. Ben blew the game in the first half and the Jags did just enough in the 2nd half to get the win.

Going for 2 on the 12 yard line.

Calling a running play with Big Ben on 3rd and 6 and a chance to win the game.

Not playing Woodley enough.

The loss isn't especially horrible as the Jags are a better football team at this point of the year, but Tomlin had his say in this outcome as well. As did almost everyone on the team.

And yeah Ben screwed up in the second, but he brought the Steelers back in a game that EVERYONE thought was over midway through the third. Give him credit along with some blame.

I told you guys there was a reason I fear Big Ben in the playoffs, he's got that machismo to just win games sometimes.

BTW, our rookie punter was BOOMING the ball and had some awesome punts all game.

Makes a pleasing change from the last Steelers game.

Damn, it's half past six in the morning and I'm just coming down from that game enough to be able to sleep...

I called my bud up on the 4th and 2 and we watched the game from there. The problem was that my feed was on a 5 second delay. So I'd hear him start screaming and get happy and have to wait to see what happened. When he was going crazy when Pitt first got the ball back and fumbled, I couldn't tell if it was good or bad at first.

Was yelling and chest-bumping, fist-pumping and saying over and over "WE'RE GOING TO NEW ENGLAND!" Finally settled down like a half hour later.:lol :D

Its all relative. Your D stops the 4th and 2 instead of giving up a 32 yard run and you win. Tomlin is still 4 home playoff losses behind Cowher when it's comes to coming up short in the playoffs.

Sportscenter bringing out Madden Rubberband AI, and uses it as an analogy on the Steeler/Jags game

Still a SB loss , and several AFC championship losses behind as well.

Pocket Hercules FTW!!! In addition to the return, the rushing TD, and the receiving TD, he threw some awesome blocks all game. Way to represent, MJD!

I don't understand how Steeler fans can be complaining so much after that gift they got in the endzone, the gift sack, and the gift superbowl. :lol

Anyway, great day of football. Two good games. Can't wait for tomorrow. :D

Grats to Tam, iapetus, Lone, Hito, blue, maynerd, and whatever bandwagon you guys picked up. ;b

Gotta say Rooflesberger was a class act after the game. The only thing that should have bothered Steeler fans is how he said that only 1 of his ints was a bad throw. Shows that he still has a ways to go and he's still not making all the reads.

He was protected all season, but he showed a lot of promise in the second half (especially if you consider the fact that he had no running game). It does help that Miller is a beast, though. :D

That there is what you call a joke. I don't give a fuck. I'm not a Seachickens fan. How am I "bitter"? In fact, I think SA = fraud mvp.

Well the way you posted it you came off as a bitter seahawk fan.
Whatever. You come off as overly defensive. I didn't even mention the chickens in that post. You'd think I'd be excited about them if I was a fan.

Well, as a Seahawk fan, I was bitter about that...2 years ago? Now I can kinda have fun picking on the Steeler fans, again (remember guys, THEY HAD THE SUPER BOWL LOSER* CURSE :lol )

It's without question the officiating in that superbowl was horrible, but in the end Seattle had other opportunities to come ahead and didn't capitalize on them. The handicap it gave definitely sucked ass though. :P
