Wow. I just noticed that the Leafs have given up the most goals in the entire NHL, with 54. And yet, they're also tied for the 3rd most goals scored. Crazy. Offensive juggernaut!

That tends to happen when you play more games then other teams. Their GFA is middle of the pack

Luongo has been playing very well lately :D

If he gets another shutout I will shoot myself. He's KILLING me in my hockey pool, and I've already had a brutal night, with my entire roster only netting me 1G and 3A tonight. Ugh.

I know there are like three Bruins fans that post in here, but it's time for people to start taking notice; they're playing great hockey right now. They made the Sabres look like crap tonight. Tim Thomas is the best goalie in the league right now and Julien didn't even start him — Fernandez played and still only gave up one goal (I was apprehensive about this, but it helped that the Sabres didn't have many good chances).

I give full credit to the Bs. They look quite good right now, and I'm happy for their fans. I've always liked Boston's hard-nosed brand of hockey. Classy organization.

Glad to see the Habs get their asses handed to them tonight.

Go back to the October 11th game between the two teams, it was the home opener for the Leafs, where the Habs were killing them 6-1. The Leafs got a penalty in the final 1:30 of the 3rd period, and what did the Habs do? They sent out their top PP line to add insult to injury. You don't pull this shit if you're a professional team. Period. The Leafs remembered this, and this is the outcome.

Also, Habs are dirty. Look at the Kostopolous hit on Van Ryn. Look at the trip from Kostitsyn on Schenn. They are going to get theirs.

Oh, and yay for Boston!! I've always liked them! Wow at Luongo's 3rd straight shutout. I've never really followed the guy's career, but three consecutive shutouts is impressive.

Yea, I can see what you mean, refs were really going after your poor leafs

Well to be fair 17 of those 39 minutes of penalties were on Kostopoulos and his hit from behind on Van Ryn, plus 10 minutes to Kostopoulos for the a misconduct...so adjusted numbers:

MTL: 12
TOR: 12

:p

LOLOL Luongo is now the new world's safest $3,000 bet ? I think so :lol I have him in my office pool so I'm 2nd right now in my pool ! The guy in the 1st spot also has Luongo, hahaha. Suck it all, biatches.

So if we call the Habs a "going nowhere" team and they make it to the playoffs, how do we call the Leafs, who aren't going to make post-season in the next 4 years? A fucking hopeless bunch of no-talent hacks?

I guarantee you the Leafs will make the playoffs before 4 years time. Don't let your disappointment and hatred cloud your judgment now. Leafs are only 3 points out of 1st place in the division. :lol :lol :lol

Grabby has just gotten hot in the last few games. He'll be #1 soon enough. :lol

I can't wait to hear Hab fans calling for Gainey's head because he traded Grabby...you know it's coming!

Oh man, with last night's game he just passed his season best point total with the Habs!

I love how Hab fans grasp at straws. If the Leafs could have been on the PP for those 10 minute misconducts than I would agree with you, it was unfair to the Habs and the Leafs would have score 15-16 goals.

I love how you disregard all the cheap shots that WEREN'T called. Forearm shiver to Grabby, slew foot in the corner that leads directly to a Hab goal, high-stick in the face to Stajan I believe uncalled.

Hab fans are a total fucking joke and watch the games with blinders on. Dirty, dirty team, those hits from behind were classless. Hollweg was even ashamed.

I want the Pens to sign him, stat! Put him on a line with Sid and he nets 30-40 goals easy!

Also Stephen Yelle really has been a solid and cheap pick up. He's not putting up the numbers Metropolit (Well who would when one of your wingers is Shawn Thornton) but he's good defensively and awesome on the faceoffs. Really good fourth line center. I just wish they hadn't wasted the 4 million per year on Ryder and just called up a Sobotka or Zach Hammil

Grabovski's the same kid who left the whole team behind on a trip because he felt he didn't play enough minutes on the team. This kid is a fucking bitch and you're gonna know it soon enough. He's like a shittier version of Miroslav Satan. He's even faking injuries now... If you're proud of having a guy like that on your team, maybe it's because you rooted for Darcy Tucker for so long.

That's what soft teams do...they lack the necessary balls to man up so vagina tactics are used instead.

Love the new avatar Manics...:lol

P.S. Van Ryn is out with a broken nose, broken arm and a concussion...

Van Ryn saw the hit coming and turned his back to Kostopoulos. Anyone who actually knows shit about hockey knows that he shouldn't have done that... Shitty player takes shitty decisions, gets injured... surprising.

Taking the loss pretty hard today, huh?

That's just plain dumb. When a d-man goes back to get the puck there is a point in time where his back will be exposed when he turns to either get it or move it.

The onus is on the forward to read the situation.

Keep supporting your dirty little softies though even when they are clearly in the wrong.

I can only imagine what you tools would be saying had Hollweg delivered the same cheap hit....

Kostopoulos has never been suspended for anything. To compare him to Hollweg, who's a fucking carreer cheapshot is quite an overstatement.

And to answer to Alucard, yeah, that loss was a disappointment. The team just didn't work hard, after about 3-4 games of lackluster performance, too, so it was time for them to get their asses kicked, but I just wished they showed a little more angst against Grabovski, who was a pain on the team last year and almost singlehandedly destroyed our chemistry for a while. I'm really happy he's gone, and while Leafs fans are cheering now, I can easily foresee their pain when they see him playing crybaby during the playoffs.

Anyway, they'll get back to form soon enough, and they still have the best record in the division.

Who cares if he has done anything dirty before, that was a dirty and very stupid hit. I mean Randy Jones hadn't done anything dirty before but it didn't stop people from crying bloody murder after he hit Bergeron from behind.

It was a scumball play, no doubt about it, and he should have to deal with the consequences. Why he did it I don't know, lack of judgment in trying to energize the teams I suppose. He'll learn from it though, he's no hollweg (who shouldn't even be allowed in the league)

Good point, he'd actually raise the level of Cindy's play.

Cindy is yesterdays news. There are new superstars in town (league) and they are all Russian. Except Jussi Jokinen who is Finnish and Luongo who is Canadian.

That Luongo gif rocks the stability of my sexual orientation.

Oh, there you go, now shut up. Just watch the video and be honest, he perfectly knew Kostopoulos was coming for him, and turned his back.

You are fucking CLUELESS. He's a defensman, he has a right to go after the puck in the corner, he's not gonna be able to do that if he's fucking skating backwards not looking at the puck. All the video shows it Kocksuckerlous had plenty of time not to drill him into the boards, but did so anyway. Like Forza had pointed out earlier, had a Leaf drilled Markov in the boards like that, ANY LEAF not even one with a history of hitting from behind, you Habs idiots would be calling for a 40 game suspension. Wake up and smell the shit you're shoveling. :lol :lol

Holy fuck I just watched it on youtube, Kocksuckerlous had lots of time to stop but instead he puts the forearms up and drills Van Ryn right in the back. WTF are you smoking?

It's called forechecking, we see that every freaking game, just because it was a "hard" hit doesn't make it illegal. Van Ryn saw the hit coming and turned his back on Kost. With that forechecking coming, all he had to do was to poke check the puck behind the net, instead, he tried to make a play and got beaned. It's not the first time Van Ryn gets hit like that, he doesn't protect his body the right way and is always getting injured because of that. Whatever, Leafs fans are going to cry anyway. I don't condone the hit, but just like Patrice Bergeron last year, people have got to play better defensively, the game is fast, and if you just don't protect yourself, you're going to get hurt.

So by your definition, this hit is legal too. Same thing, Pietrangelo sees Hollweg coming.

Congratulations, you've taken over from Malakhov as the most stupid Hab fan on GAF.

Pietrangelo was dumb on this play, too, especially considering it was Hollweg, a repeat offender, coming at him. He sees him, and then turns his head and expect him to just do nothing. Young player, eh? Stupid decision again.

I guess we have different opinions on the matter.

I watch Kostopoulos play 82 times a year plus playoffs, and I've never seen him hit a guy like that. It might have been a dumb move, but I don't think he was trying to injure Van Ryn. The game is fast, Van Ryn looked back and knew a hit was coming and still put his back to the game. Big mistake here. Kost shouldn't have done that, but to compare him to Hollweg is completely ludicrous. The guy has made a career of hitting from behind, and has already been suspended a number of times because of it.

So you're arguing that a player should be forced to hamper his play on the puck if another player with a track record of boarding is bearing down on him?

Socreges, independent observer, and person with NO particular affection for the Leafs and even less for Leafs fans, says:

You have to be kidding me, Jackass. Manics is completely right.** And it's not a matter of opinion. Beyond Malakhov, I don't think anyone here would agree with you.

Eh? Kostopoulos made a stupid hit. I don't think he was trying to injure the guy, but if someone's back is turned to you, don't hit him into the fucking boards.

For their own sake, yeah... Hockey's a hard hitting game. I would argue it would have been slightly harder for Pietrangelo to change his play, since Holwell actually chose to come from behind and made a special play of it. In Kostopoulos' defense, he was coming from the only place where he could have come from, considering the way the puck was played. The only other option would have been to try and pin Van Ryn on the boards, I guess, which would have been "not finishing" the hit.

Maybe he should have done it, and I wouldn't actually be angry if he was suspended for it, but to make a big case out of that hit is misguided. Holwell's behavior has been dangerous for a much longer time, and he clearly goes out of line just to line up those killer moves. Kostopoulos was just finishing a check. It's clearly a different move than when Bergeron or Pietrangelo got beaned, and I would guess anybody could see that, but I've been wrong before.

Anyway. You guys can shit on me all you want. I think my opinion should be clear enough now for you to judge it, but some of you guys just don't understand what I'm saying. It's alright, I'm gonna live.
