Ovechkin is probably my favorite active player but christ what a fucking idiot

This. I hope he's out for several months. He might finally learn something. Especially if he miss the Olympic.

say what you will about him but I definitely hope he doesn't miss the olympics.

one of things I'm most looking forward to is seeing ovie, malkin, datsyuk and kovalchuk all on the same team.

Leafs look like shit today. Jeez, they just spent the last 60 seconds struggling to start a rush. They turn it over and one second later Buffalo scores.

Stars looking pretty bad. Our schedule is wack. We had such a trickle of games at the start of the season and now 4 in 6 days. They look out of shape.

Caught the last 30 seconds of the game, i'm glad I skipped the 3rd period. Add Buffalo to the list of teams to avoid watching. Having Lindy Ruff on the Canadian coaching staff has me really worried for the Olympic team... fuck, the entire coaching staff has me worried.

Hey guys, just got home from work. *checks scoresheet and is excited for hilights*

WOOOOO!

Keep it going, boys! We're getting healthy again!

Yes they only have the best headcoach in the game today.

You think Babcock's the best coach in the game? :\ Be that as it may, his supporting cast are nothing but fossil coaches who rely way too much on sitting back and letting their goaltenders to do all the work. I'm seriously worried about Team Canada, and I'm not just saying that because I hate the NHL teams they coach.

Just saw Ovechkin's knee-on-knee. What a piece of shit, and poetic justice that he finally gets exposed for being a cheap hitter. Too bad that he's injured because of his star power and playing ability, but it was only a matter of time before this happened to him. Sorry, Caps fans.

He's certainly the scariest.

But he's also made it to the SCF in 50% of the seasons he's been coaching in the NHL. He's 2 game 7's away from having 3 cups in 6 years..
You think there's a better coach currently in the NHL?

Oh spare me the fake sympathy. You hate the Caps and AO so your opinion is worthless.

I'm still in favor of the idea that if you hit somebody from behind/knee-to-knee/etc and cause a major injury that you're suspended for the same amount of games that they miss due to injury.

I don't hate AO, and think he's a valuable asset to the league. There is no denying his talent and "fuck you" scoring ability. However, the dude's gotten away with a few cheap shots before this and his reputation as having a bit of a dirty side is having a little more light shed on it now; this was his second ejection in three games.

I will say that I dislike the Caps immensely, though, but that I'm not too worried about them as serious contenders for the Cup any time soon.

You seem to constantly repeat this which leads me to believe that deep down under that cheezies stained #87 t-shirt, you fear otherwise.

Not really, and not until their maturity level takes a leap. The Caps are like the cool kid in school who wears all the hippest clothes and gets lots of attention, but ultimately gets upstaged later on in life by the quiet, hard working honour student.

fn horrendous game by the predators. just terrible.

fucking shit

glad vokoun is relatively ok, ballard is a dumb bitch

Canadiens considered Canada's team: poll

Canada's oldest hockey team is also this country's most revered, according to a poll released Monday in celebration of the Montreal Canadiens' 100th anniversary.

A third of respondents named the Habs when asked who they considered "Canada's team," compared with a quarter who said the same for the team's archrival Toronto Maple Leafs.

Comparable to Yankees

Of the 1,015 Canadians surveyed, just under half called the Habs the greatest hockey team in history, while two-thirds agreed the Montreal Canadiens are to hockey what the New York Yankees are to baseball.

Meanwhile, three-quarters of Canadians predict the Habs will hoist the cup for a record 25th time before the Leafs — who haven't won since 1967 — get another one.

Although it won't happen as long as the teams remain in the same NHL conference — and as long as the Leafs keep failing to even make the playoffs — 44 per cent of Canadians say they'd cheer for the Habs compared to 38 per cent who would cheer for the Leafs if the two were matched up for the Stanley Cup.

Not surprising, the leafs have sucked for so long that no one remembers all the great players they had.

Ovechkin has been involved in a lot of knee-on-knee hits that just ended up being shrugged off. I don't think it's a coincidence anymore, because this one is pretty blatant.
Nah, nah. It was a dangerous attempt, but Gleason quickly skating to the left didn't help things. People suggesting that Ovechkin TRIED to hit him with his knee are just a bit off the mark. Look at that shit full speed. He has to be more careful, though, and deserves some kind of suspension. He's been reckless this year and needs to pick his hit attempts more carefully.

$10 says Ovechkin isn't injured, that he faked it to not get a suspension.

That's the dumbest, most inappropriate, self-serving fucking analogy I've ever heard

It's amazing Ruff has lasted so long, given the up-and-down nature of the Sabres over the past 10 years.

AFAIK the Buffalo Sabres have always matched or exceeded expectations given the amount of talent (or lack of talent in some years) that they've had on their roster.

I feel so bad for Vokoun. Hope he's aight.

On to the knee on knee incident... I like Ovechkin but this crosses the line. It's hard to feel sympathy for him on this one. Those who say it's karma are probably right. He had it coming.
