There is a rumour
Ryan Malone and Dick Tarnstrom for Nik Antropov and TIE DOMI

I'd love it if they pulled the trigger on that, but I don't think management would ever trade Tie

Hey now.. my weaksauce ban is done. yay.

annyway..

Therrien rippin into the pens

"Maybe the players should only pick up 40% of their salary because they only play 40% of the games."

"The defensemen are soft like I've never seen..."

"I know they don't care. They can pretend to care. But I know they don't care."

"What's the solution? I'm gonna find a solution."

"It's a game of passion...Kovalchuk, what he did the other day...there's not one guy who tried to do anything to him...maybe Maxime Talbot, with one second left. I get the feeling that they don't care for each other."

"I guess we're gonna have to come back with the old recipe...they make my job miserable...well, it's give and take."

"Very disappointing because they don't care...tonight, it was men against boys."

Oh for the love of god yes. I love big nik unlike most leaf fans but getting rid of Tie Domi for anything even a bag of pucks would be awesome.

"The defensemen are soft like I've never seen..."

I remember NHL Network showing a 2 minute clip last week of the Pens awful D. There was a montage of Gonchar making a case for being the worst dman alive, it was hilarious (apologies to Pens fans) until you remember his FA contract. :lol

EDIT: Tie can't be traded, all his best friends are in Toronto! I would love to see it to watch him blubber through a press conference about whether or not he'll retire instead of report, and the idiot Leaf fans who still worship him (not many in this thread by the looks of it... to your collective credit) would be freaking out and posting awesome rants all over the internet, which would be a gift of comedy gold to us all that would probably last months.

God, what a fucking awesome game. Anyone know where I can find it online (or is that kind of talk not allowed.. I don't think the Canucks sell their games on DVD or shows repeats of PPV broadcasts, so I wouldn't see why not), I really want to see how it came across on TV. To give you an idea of what it's like playing a home game against the Leafs when you're Vancouver, Montreal, Ottawa, or Buffalo, here's the seating arrangement of my seats at the game tonight;

The Pens need an enforcer to protect the kid...but I don't see Domi leaving TO.
They'd be better off trading for our Laraque, preferably sending Crosby and/or rights to Malkin back our way (or possibly Fleury).

Domi's time as an enforcer was over a decade ago. Who are they kidding? :lol

Meh we lost but it was mainly due to Belfour not being too sharp today. I am happy that we finally actually out shot a team. McCabe was missed as well on defense. Telqvist should watch out, his good play in goal coupled with Belfours average play in goal might result in Belfour pushing him down a flight of stairs accidently.

And Pittsburgh fans, why would you want Georges "I Don't Fight Anymore" Laraque when you can have Tie Domi, Mario Lemieux's best friend and offensive super star, hell we will throw in Wade Belak who is a stalwart on defense.

Don't listen to R_GILL.
We'll throw in a Conklin...he got a shutout last Tuesday, and didn't let in a single goal tonight!

KEEP BELAK OUT OF THE NHL PLEASE THANKS. Malone and Tarnstrom for Antropov and Domi? Hmmmmmmmmmm...Can't say that I like Domi much, so that would be a "no" from me.

No chance in hell the Pens will get rid of Fleury. Him, Crosby, and Malkin are hopefully going to be the backbone of the team for years to come.

Therrien is so awesome. It's too bad that a lot of his players are lazy as fuck. I'm looking at you, Ryan Malone.

And Maxime Talbot has been a really pleasant surprise this year, especially on the PK.

Yeah, I'd say that image is accurate. I sit in the 8th row up in the 300 level, and there's about ten rows behind me...last Leafs game I went to there was not one Sabres fan behind me in my whole section. Luckily Buffalo beats them 75% of the time at home, which is a good thing....it really raises the intensity of the game when you know that if your team loses you're going to have a few thousand Leafs Fans jeering you all the way out.

Just lookin at some stats and..

Jarome Iginla 43gp 17g 16a 33p
Jesus. wtf is going on with Iginla? The 7 million dollar man still hasnt woke up?

Hes well under a point per game with over half the season done.

Only 8 more goals and Rick Nash will have caught up to him :lol

Boston Globe hockey writer and full-time Joe Thornton hater Kevin Dupont obviously had a joygasm last night when Thornton was kicked out of the game. Yet he had to do some fancy stickhandling between vilifying Joe for the "ugly" blindside hit (ignoring the fact Gill said repeatedly he saw Thornton) and wondering why Joe wasn't this physical and ornery when he was with Boston.

It was an ugly hit. Whether it was delivered with malice, only Thornton knows. This is the kind of hit that can cripple if the targeted player (and Gill was lined up) is hit far enough away from the boards, unable to defend himself. His neck can be snapped like kindling.

Gill was less than a stride from the boards. Luckily, he took the force of the blow high to his body, but low enough that his neck did not hyperextend to a point of danger. No small bit of fortune. A little more space between Gill and the boards, a slightly more awkward tumble, and he might have left the ice on a stretcher.
......
That's not to glorify dangerous or reckless play. But if Thornton had been that engaged with his game, that ornery, that bold and fearsome, then there would have been no way for GM Mike O'Connell & Co. to deal him out of Dodge.
:lol Were we watching the same hit Kevin? Still, as far as Thornton bashing goes this doesn't rate in Dupont's top 10, after the last playoff loss he was infinitely harsher. Of course, he routinely demanded Thornton be stripped of the C for avoiding the media after practices and shit so the anti-Thornton bar was raised pretty high.

Hearing Therrien grill his players is awesome.... First time someone has had the balls to do that in Pittsburgh in 15 years...

WTF is up with arena's changing their names? They shouldn't be allowed to do that, the first name an arena is given should be kept to the grave, end of story.

Montreal did it and now Ottawa.

"Oh man I went to the Molson Center yesterday...oh no I mean the Bell Center....oh wait, that was last week, I mean the Trojan Magnum Arena..."

fucking nonsense.

Anyways, Habs/Avs tonight, finally. The actual game is filler as far as I'm concerned, hopefully the real entertainment comes post game.

Anyone want a good, young backup goalie for half price???? Stupid A-hole penguins are just begging to give Caron away, which would be a bad mistake...... Just like the young Patrick Lalime situation....

They brought up Caron and Sabourin (who was tearing it up in Wilkes-Barre).
Have a feeling I'll be waiving by to Fleury soon... Fuck!

Hopefully Wolf, hopefully.

Looking forward to the game also since I missed the game on sathurday, it's been a while since I've seen the Habs play.

If the pens do anything with Fleury theyre retarded. That kid is a STUD. Every game I watch him in i drool... in a purely hetero way...

hmm.gif

What the...is Sid the Kid leaning in for a kiss? Or telling Leclair to make some room for the *NEW* Assistant Captain? :lol

That gif is hilarious. It's like he's some hockey-playing reebok-wearing alien that doesn't understand Leclair's customs or pattern of speech.

It looks like Crosby is pushing Leclair aside to talk on someone to the left of Leclair and Leclair being pissed off about it.

:lol

that is priceless. You can tell the 'ol Hab Killer just wants to give him a shot in the teeth. You have to wonder whether Crosby has bad breathe after that too.

Pens and Jackets tonight. Either:

a) Pens wake up and pop 3-5 goals into the Columbus net
or
b) Thibault plays like Thibault, the D plays like the D, and Nash continues his goal streak as the Pens continue to be humiliated this season.

Someone neeeds to bust it out tonight.

"It's a pathetic performance," Therrien said of a team that has allowed a league-high 166 goals. "Half of the team doesn't care. ... They're doing the best job to be the worst defensive squad in the league.

"They turn the puck over, they have no vision. The guys don't care. They pretend to care, but I know they don't care."

Dude, our prayers have been answered, T-Bound is out for the year with torn cartilage on his leg. That is why they called up Sabourin and Caron. Supposidely Caron cleared Waivers, so that is good too. I guess they had to call up a goalie just in case he got plucked (I thought for sure the Islanders were going to pluck him)
Don't know who is starting in net... have heard rumblings of Sabourin though...

Mike Works said:
how the FUCK did the canucks not pick up Caron? does he have a freaking 5 million dollar contract or what?
646K.

Caron was placed on waivers before Cloutier got injured. Caron is good, but mind you, Ouelet isn't such a bad acqusition, either.

6-1 Jackets over Pens, half way through the second.

NASH : 1G, 2 A, +2, 4PM

Im glad Canada took a chance on him, because the man's on fire right now.

Q: You made the jump straight from major junior to the NHL. What was the toughest part of that adjustment?

A: Playing against guys that were so much older and so much bigger than me. I remember Mike Keenan grabbing me around the throat and threatening me to play a certain way when I didn't think I could. He taught me the mental toughness and the ability to overcome adversity when you don't think you can. I learned a lot as a young player.
Q: Now that you've had a few weeks to reflect, how do you react to being left off the U.S. Olympic team?

A: I'm pissed. I feel extremely disrespected. I am right up there with any American to ever play the game. Look at Shane Doan. He has struggled all this year, but he has been in the Canadian system for years, and Canada has respect for the guys that have won medals for them, so they selected him. That wasn't the case with the U.S. I think it was totally disrespectful. I have no love for USA Hockey at this point. If they ask me to do anything for USA Hockey again, it will not be done.
Q: Do you deserve the title of "Greatest American-born NHL player ever?"

A: I think it's a tie between me and Mike Modano. In my opinion, Modano is one of the best players ever to play the game, regardless of where he was born. His talent is second to none. I have had to do it more with grit and fight and all-out work. Mike is more talented. But I think that's a question that will be raised a lot, who is better, Mike or me.

Me too. I might not've picked him (can't remember what the other options in his position were), but I'm glad it's turned out for the best.
