Not if he says no, I don't to play for Florida anymore ?
Rumors were Keenan wanted to move Luongo because he didn't want to give him a big long term contract and he wasn't too high on him with the Panthers organisation.

Third loss in a row. Wish I could say the Islanders firing nearly the whole front office was a spark for them and the Flames were unlucky to have to face a team with a post-shakeup jump in their step but the FLames were shit tonight. I'm now officially worried about the awful habit of losing leads, the Islanders tying it up with a few seconds left in the 2nd was a dagger in the heart.

EDIT: just watched the Mogilny interview in Albany as he gets ready for his AHL assignment, and damn did he have a great, realistic attitude towards it. Laughed about how he's going to the minors on the way down instead of on his way up, and how he's obviously lost "some" steps and he's not getting younger but he still wants to work his way back to the NHL and feels he will.

Someone will pick him up on re-entry waivers for sure. Mogiliny is no longer a New Jersey Devil.

For sure, a lot of teams would pick up Mogilny at 1.75 millions for one season since the Devils would have to pay half of his salary.

I can't wait to see the kind of numbers he puts up in the AHL, he will be dominating.

Surprisingly entertaining Capitals/Stars game tonight. In particular, Zubov basically shutting Ovechkin down for almost the whole game was fun(and I like Ovechkin.)

Let's see...I wonder who our next opponent is.

Oh? the Bruins you say?

Anyone got a clip of Messier's press conference? I heard a clip on the radio...and I'm a Moose fan and all, but when he broke down after talking about Glen Sather, it was the funniest thing ever (at the time I was up 20 hours and driving 3 hours to a 2am job, I guess I could find anything funny). He broke down and it sounded like exaggerated crying from a cartoon character. Mess kicks ass regardless.

Long list of teams with Buffalo at the top. :D

That list makes me feel better after tonight's game. The Sabres just cannot score a 5 on 5 goal to save their lives in three of their last four at least. Their forwards are just in a lull right now. However, defensively they have been stellar (thank you Calgary for Lydman) so they are still in every game. The forwards are really showing their youth now though with the loss of Briere, Dumont, and now Mair it looks like.

It's funny though, watching Biron tonight I could not help but think that it was his last game in Buffalo...could be some offensive help coming there I bet. There were rumors flying around last week that they might get Laperriere for him, I don't think I'd mind that.

Kovalchuk, who'd earlier scored his NHL-best 33rd goal, denied having an illegal stick — at least during that point of the game.

"They tried calling my stick, but I was using the legal one for the last 10 minutes,'' Kovalchuk said.

:lol

:lol And people have the nerve to hate on this man...fools.

As for Messier, he's easily the most overrated athlete of the last decade. But even I have to give him his propers during his cup winning years, culminating with his Rangers triumph in '94. And I'm always a sucker for seeing a good tribute show, particularly in a place like the Garden. Too bad the media let him dine off his "greatest leader ever" tag, while every team he "led" from '97 on imploded.

The tears only continued through several speeches, including a recorded one by defenseman Brian Leetch, who now plays for the Boston Bruins.

Only part of that was audible as it was accompanied by chants of "Bring Him Back!"

Ovechkin is a fucking monster.
He's got Bure-esque moves with a Sakic-esque wrist shot.

i think you forget how crazy bure was. Ovechkin reminds me more of Selanne + kariya + cam neely + JR. :p

What I have been saying all along for the past month or so just happened, Claude Julien was fired. All I can say is...

FINALLY.

Yeah...but this is the same team. I'm happy with Carbonneau's return, but it was not Julien fault if Theo, Ribeiro, Bonk and Zednik couldn't play well.

In other news, Luongo said no. He clearly want to be trade.

Roberto Luongo is looking for more than money from the Florida Panthers.

According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel Luongo turned down a five-year, $30 million contract from the Panthers, which is more than $5 million more than he was offered in the summer.

''I just want to make sure we're a playoff team for many years to come,'' Luongo told the Sun-Sentiel. ''I don't want to spend another five years here just watching the playoffs on television.

''It is a great contract for me, but No. 1 is winning a Stanley Cup and having success in the playoffs. After that, money comes second.''

Luongo tells the paper that he is in no hurry to sign a contract and since he is a restricted free agent the Panthers have the right to match any offer he receives after this season.

Yesterday at work I was bored out of my mind so I was looking at the Leafs team stats and it finally dawned on me how Mats Sundin is having such a mediocre season:

31 games played with 9 goals and 16 assists for 25 points.

I asked people around me at work if they thought this was a slump/off-year or a sign that he's on the decline.

What do you guys think?

P.S. I also noticed that Peter Bondra has only played 27 games this season. What's his injury?

I watch the Leafs on occasion, and Sundin's a major floater when he's on the ice. He's been that way for the past few years though, and I always thought he was one of the most overrated players in the league, if not the most. Especially during that year he made $9 million.

It was definetely Julien's fault, like I've been saying all along, he had no clue what he was doing with his players, sorry but when you're playing players like Begin with Kovalev it has an effect on the whole team. He had lost the locker room a long time ago and the players had given up on him, it was obvious.

Anyways, Bob Gainey head coach, Guy Carbonneau and Doug Jarvis assistant coaches with Guy Carbonneau becoming head coach next season.

Heh, my friends are calling me and telling me I was right all along. NO SHIT assholes, and here they were laughing and lynching me all along.

Seems like a typical Sundin year to me. Even in the new NHL, Sundin's never going to pick up huge numbers due to Quinn's penchant for "balanced scoring." Sundin was never a scoring machine to begin with, and lining him up with say, a Czerkawski certainly doesn't help.

Bondra's out with an abdominal injury.

Surprisingly, NBC is doing a very nice job so far. Great HD picture, three good announcers (although I hate Maguire) with one between the benches, good camera work, no gimmicks... huh. Nice.

Major floater? :lol

Sundin is one of the most defensively responsible centres in the league. Sundin has been shutting down key players on the opposing teams for us for years. He hasn't found his scoring touch since the eye injury, but he is easily the most valuabe player on the team.

I dont know i think his NOrdique years were fairly awesome. I remember the uproar when Clark was traded for him. "the leafs lost their heart and soul ...yadda yadda yaddda" :lol

Huet was supposed to goal tonight (Julien's decision) but now that Gainey is coach, it's Theodore in nets

:/

I understand though, he's telling Theodore that he's his man and to step up but still.. I want to win :(

Had a looonngggg night, just woke up a couple of hours ago, and now I see the huge news.

CJ Fired. What can you say, something had to be done. This team fell apart, and whether or not you believed he deserved it, I'll say this, Koop was right, this team stopped playing for him, bottom line.

Its quite clear that Gainey intends to keep Theodore in Montreal, unless he could not get any good offers for him and he simply wants to get him rolling again so his value will go up.

I dont expect a win tonight, but going foward the team will respond to him.

Man I loved Clark but the Leafs made a smart trade in getting rid of him when his trade value was at the highest it'd ever be. He was insane in that playoff run that season.

As for Sundin, he's had solid numbers as a Leaf too especially considering scoring dropped off in 1995 and after that:

I loved it when Zubov hit the post and then the Bruins goalie looks around all stunned looking for the puck and realizes it didn't go in and crosses his arms like "yeah bitch!". :lol

Bob Mckenzie, a tangent in his column about Julien:
The biggest surprise is that Julien took the fall before Boston coach Mike Sullivan, but the whispers out of Boston is that ownership is contemplating a clean sweep of GM Mike O'Connell and head coach Sullivan and that's taking some time to put together.

The rumour, and it's just that at this point, is the Bruins are trying to convince Ray Bourque to take over as GM.

In any case, something has to happen in Beantown soon.

Wow, that'd be something.
