Thanks, CBC. Thanks.
Seriously.
And now they're showing some other feed. Colorado Avalanche Hockey. WTF.
And Avs tied it? WTF.

I like the new system of no ties...EXCEPT WHEN YOU DON'T WANT EITHER TEAM TO GET POINTS. Ugh. Well...go nucks.

edit:
"the truck blew up next door at HNIC"

Hmm...I hope they're not exagerating.

Explain what happened.
The HNiC feed went dead with about 7 minutes left in the game, 'Nucks up 3-2.
It comes back (not HNiC, but some Denver broadcast) with about ~1 minute left and the score is 3-3.

Back to normal now, going into the shootout...

-edit-
Damn, Ruutu is playing great. I love those leg kick dekes.

Fricking Canucks. Finish it in regulation next time please.

Code:
-------Team GR PTS
1. Detroit 32 70
2. Dallas 32 68
3. Calgary 32 63
4. Nashville 32 68
5. Los Angeles 29 63
6. Vancouver 30 63
7. Colorado 30 61
8. Edmonton 31 60
9. Minnesota 31 54
9. Anaheim 33 54
11. Phoenix 31 52
11. San Jose 35 52

tense :)
It's funny...the Canucks and Oilers will play back-to-back-to-back (3) games against each other in March. Insane.

Fuck that sucks, I'd want a CBC employee's head if that happened during tonights Habs/Leafs.

Awesome goal by Ruutu in the shootout. Great choice by Marc Crawford.

Auld = #1 star and #7 in the NHL goalies right now as a backup.

Complaints:
-WTF Canucks can't even keep a 3-1 lead with 11 minutes to go!!!
-Fuck all Colorado fans. Booooo Booooo Bertuzi's on the ice Boooooo Booooo

WTF WHAT HAPPENED TO DIVISIONAL RIVALS CANUCKS CURSE!?!?!

YOU HIT THE POST SAKIC...DURRRRRR...

Other NHL Comments:
FUCK YEAH FOR THE HABS! SUCK IT TORONTO FANS!

BigJonsson said:
Leafs are in 8th place right since they have more wins than Atlanta and Mtl?
Yeah they are.

Atlanta, Toronto and Montreal all have 52 points now. Toronto played 50 games, Montreal 49 games and Atlanta 52 games. GAWD, come on Habs, you can do it!

I know we've gone over this, but:

Number of Teams in Each Division with 60(+) Points

Atlantic: 2
North East: 2
South East: 1
Central: 2
Pacific: 2
North West: 4

Also, if the playoffs were to start tomorrow, and the (teams from the) North West division was moved to the Eastern Conference, all 5 of them would make the playoffs.

I'm going to have fucking multiple heart attacks come April.

The North West Division is by far the toughest and most competitive in the league.

I mean, look at the South East Division...non-existent is the word most people look for when the word 'competition' is dropped around there. Carolina and....maybe....Tampa Bay.

GO NUCKS! .... but wtf, should've won in regulation.

they aren't very exciting -right now-

but on average the leafs are far more exciting than the sens. Leafs play end to end hockey. Sens just shut the other team down. So exciting! :roll eyes
Yeah, the Leafs are exciting because they actually lose half the time! You can never be too sure what's going to happen! Excitement!

The Sens are often the most creative, interesting team in the league

DopeyFish said:
I'm not sure if you notice but watch the sens play and watch carefully why other teams have difficulty shooting or passing. Pay very close attention. If you actually aren't blind you'll notice what they do and it's borderline bullshit. When you see what they do then you'll understand why I'd never support the sens as long as they keep doing what they do.
:lol :lol :lol

I don't know if I'd support a team that continually manhandles my own either.

Your "perceptions" are always so out of line with reality. I think you watch games from inside a mirky aquarium.

" On the night the Maple Leafs were last eliminated in the Stanley Cup playoffs this much was evident: For the Leafs to reach the next level, they had to significantly upgrade their defence.

That was 21 months ago.

Since then, Brian Leetch left in free agency, Bryan Marchment was let go, Calle Johansson went back to retirement and the general manager on training wheels -- isn't that the credo of Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment? 'We hire them young.' -- watched as his team has become less and less a contender.

In free agency after the lockout, John Ferguson added Alexander Khavanov. That was it, really. The only relevant move to address the Leafs largest weakness. He added a weak defenceman to a weak defence.

Ferguson chose to re-sign Aki Berg when he didn't have to tender an offer. (In fairness, he also chose not to buy out Bryan McCabe, Ken Klee or Tomas Kaberle, which was a two-for-three proposition for those scoring at home.)

Now the Leafs are injured and exposed and the cupboard is bare. The defence is the weakest it has been in years. Now all you get is other teams scraps and bad contracts.

Ferguson likes to insist this is all part of a plan. If the plan is to miss the playoffs, it appears to be working."

Yet another message board gem:

"WOW -- another great effort against a 'TOP CONTENDER" on Saturday night. Ake "HUMBUGGER" was up to his usual "BOBBY ORR' self. Andropov reminded me of Mario Lemieux and "Fat Flynn" looks like his "DEPENDS" are chaulk full up to the neckline. ----- OK you Leaf idiots, we loose to the "PIGS" from frog town --- time for changes ----- naw ---- lets dig up Horton and Brewer --- those coffins will keep the wingers to the outside as they come down the wing and the "SAWCHUCK" box will take care of the rest. ---- "HEY" -- lets see how many we can lose in a row."

:lol

Hey, at least they're not as bad as Pittsburgh.

They're slowly getting there though.

Pens need to shoot the puck and figure out how to work it in the offensive zone right now. They're getting blasted from all sides.

I heard Howard Berger mentioning this on The FAN 590 and he was laughing at Khavanov too:

"Alex Khavanov saw the media mob coming straight at him last night and decreed "no cameras ... I have to walk the streets."

The Maple Leafs defenceman then removed his trademark tinted glasses and tuque in a droll attempt to disguise his goat horns for taking the holding penalty that led to the Montreal Canadiens' 4-3 overtime goal."

:lol

I just find it hilarious that he thinks anyone would even know what he looks like outside of his Leafs uniform. It's really tough to picture:

Guy #1: "Hey, isn't that Khavanov over there with the glasses and tuque on?"
Guy #2: "Wow man. It's him. It's him!!!

If anything I'd say Khavanov knows he sucks and is afraid some irate fans will beat the shit out of him...

nice
pronger scores with .7 seconds left in the 3rd to tie it up

and the Oilers beat the yotes in a shootout
woo :D

It's been said that Belfour once walked across the street in front of a speeding bus, but it went right through his legs!

So out of a possibly 7 points, the NorthWest division (teams) earned 7 points this weekend.

Jesus Christ...

Calgary - 65
Vancouver - 63
Edmonton - 62
Colorado - 61

I guess the NorthWest Division must be better then the sum of it's parts...because individually, Dallas is better then all five of them :lol

Just curious, how many more facts can you come up with to prove the Northwest is better right now?

I'll say three more.

I know you only asked for three, but we could count all of these as 1 win against an entire division if you'd like;

Vancouver - 5
Boston - 2

Vancouver - 3
Ottawa - 2

Vancouver - 4
Toronto - 3

Vancouver - 4
Buffalo - 1

Vancouver - 6
Montreal - 2

It's up to you!

Dallas-4
Edmonton-0

Dallas-3
Calgary-2

Dallas-2
Minnesota-1

Dallas-3
Colorado-2

Dallas-3
Vancouver-1

Don't worry though, your point still stands. Please keep going!

Oilers allow the Yotes to believe they can win for 59 minutes and 59.7 seconds, give them another 5 minutes of Overtime hope, a few rounds of shootout, only to get bored and finally take the 2 points. The perks of having the league's best faceoff %.

Gretzky: "In my 30 years I don't know if I have had a more disheartening loss, because I know how hard our guys have worked this week and I know how beat up they are,''.

Sorry for the tease Gretz.

Okay:

Dallas - 3

Colorado - 3
Dallas - 2

Vancouver - 5
Dallas - 2

Edmonton - 5
Dallas - 3

The Canucks are undefeated against the Northeast. The Stars against the Northwest... not so much.

well the preds made their move and it wasn't doug weight... mike sillenger for shishkanov. hopefully he'll put up big numbers for us, as we need a scoring center.

Pens don't play again 'til Wednesday sooo...

TEAMS THAT YOU WOULDN'T MIND SEEING WIN THE STANLEY CUP, GO!

1. NYR (Just want Jagr to win a cup without Lemieux and cement his place as possibly one of the 10 best players in NHL history)
2. Calgary (If any Canadian team wins the cup, I hope it's them. C'mon Iggy)
3. Ottawa (This would destroy Leafs fans' hearts and brains. And that's a good thing IMO. Plus, they're just awesome)
4. Nashville (I'd love to see the Paul Kariya re-emergence tale come to a storybook ending.)

I don't even want to think about Detroit, Dallas, New Jersey, or Colorado, 'cause I'm tired of hearing about them and tired of them winning Cups.

And guess who the new HeavyWeight Carolina Hurricanes are playing in their next game?

The Montreal Canadiennes.

Go ahead Wolf, let it out. let those tears take away the pain.

from tsn..
The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired Doug Weight from the St. Louis Blues but it is just one part of a much larger trade involving other players and draft picks that won't be made official until after the Hurricanes and Blues complete the official trade conference call with the NHL.

Interesting..

ahh.. heres the deal

The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired Doug Weight and 27-year-old Finnish forward Erkki Rajamaki from the St. Louis Blues.

In exchange, Carolina gave to the Blues three draft picks and three players. The package includes:
- Carolina's first-round pick in 2006.
- Toronto's fourth-round pick in 2006, previously acquired by the Hurricanes.
- Chicago's fourth-round pick in 2007, previously acquired by the Hurricanes.
- Tough guy forward Jesse Boulerice, a 27-year-old eighth-year pro
- Forward Mike Zigomanis, a 25-year-old fifth-year pro
- Magnus Kahnberg, 25, an unsigned Carolina draftee from Sweden who will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1

me thinks the blues are going to be bad for a long time

Weight, though, has waived his no trade clause and will be joining the Hurricanes, who outbid Nashville, Calgary and Ottawa, amongst other teams, for his services.

That's a lot of teams in the running. Interesting that the Blues give up their top 2 scorers, it seems to me they got the short end on the Sillenger deal though. Maybe they needed to free up some salary? At any rate, they should end up with some nice draft picks next year :)
