Konex, if you *dare* talk about any of the teams involved in a Canucks series, I will fly to your house and throttle you while your neighbours gape in horror.

God...........................

Even I'm fatigued. I needed sleep 3 hours ago... No chance for breaks except between intermissions....

What a friggen battle.

Series 1-0!

Cowan just never seemed to give up. Such surges of energy through all 7 periods.

Great work by the Sedins too. A little quiet for the 2nd and 3rd period, even the 4th and a bit of the 5th. But geez they just seemed to be able to get that cycle going in short surges in the 6th and 7th.

Especially relative to the play of others because really, by their general standards it wasn't dominant. But with all things considered, it's a wonder they could get it going at all. All that spinning must be so fatiguing with how sore and stressed their muscles must be by then.

I would of bet on the goal being either a bad bounce or just a gritty, overpowering goal where someone just threw himself and somehow got a skill-less goal.

But the Sedins came through....

Geez I can't say "god...." enough. What a marathon.

CBC's three stars are right on the button.

1) Roberto Luongo - 72 saves, nuff' said.
2) Marty Turco - Proved all the doubters wrong.
3) Henrik Sedin - GWG.

Good ****ing game to everyone who was cheering on both sides.

We had a hell of a ride. :D

KONEX. DO NOT RISE TO THE BAIT. IT WILL NOT END WELL.

:lol Awesome. Turco showed some mettle tonight, though. Give him that.

And COWAN! Good God, Jeff was flying tonight, hitting everything in sight, skating like the wind, and creating tons of scoring chances. You could see the Sedins and Pyatt getting stronger and stronger as OT progressed, too.

Ladislav Nagy and Sergei Zubov = offense and defense personified. Nagy was dangerous all night and Zubov must have shut down 4 consecutive Canucks scoring chances in the 4th OT all by himself while the rest of the Stars were running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

Awesome, awesome game.

to Jeff Cowan- you were great tonight too

Why didn't Giguere play tonight?

Edit - Oh, cause of his new kid...I hope he plays next game

For some reason I actually trust Bryz in the playoffs this year even though I shat a brick whenever he was in net during the regular season. So... no rush, Jiggy needs to take care of Jiggy Jr. (who apparently has some shitty eye condition).

Also, Selanne only needs one more goal to take the franchise record for postseason goals from that asshole Kariya. GO TEEMU GO.

Vancouver very very lucky to win tonight. Luongo.. even though he made 72 saves, he still looks shaky and shit the bed in the third.

I'm looking forward to watching your team tommorow.

So keep talking, please.

He let in one weak goal. The Canucks as a whole shit the bed. After going up 4-2 they just got lame and gave up too many chances.

Sounds like you saw the highlights and nothing but.

rebuking someone's claim that a goalie who made 72 saves through 7 periods looked shakey and shit the bed is always a surefire sign that one is planning a cup parade :lol

yodathesoda said:
Carry on your Stanley Cup parade. Will make it even better when reality catches up to the Cannots.

Reality is that my team ended up the division leader while your team barely made it into the playoffs. I bet a playoff spot on our 0-3 record at the beginning of the season and you are still an idiot.

Let the good times roll.

Wow take the blinders off. Absolutely dominated them? We were killing the Preds in the first period. I admit the Sharks fell flat once you guys took out Cheech, but hey if that's what you gotta do to win..... hmm yet we still won. Sharks in 6!
You're saying I've got blinders? As I pointed out, the first period was plagued with bad calls against Nashville, leading to us getting outshot 14-6. You lost cheech so everything is done? Well, we lost Hartnell so I could use the same, stupid logic. The interference call on Zanon was weak saurce, leading to the 5 on 3 goal in the 2nd. We dominated 5v5 play and owned the 3rd period (13 shots to 2), you won because Nabokov stood on his head. If I were a Sharks fan who didn't have his head up his ass, I'd be very worried.

Props to the Canucks! 4OT is nuts, I passed out somewhere in the second ot :lol

haha i didn't even notice he said that. ya, we're the most classless fans in the league. ref you suck, modano/chelios/yourfavoriteplayer is a sissy, goalie goalie goalie you suck, its all your fault, wah x3 when someone complains to the refs, get off your knees ref you're blowing the game, somebody hit yourfavoriteplayer, anyone hit yourfavoriteplayer, everyone hit yourfavoriteplayer. so on and so forth. that's great that he used nashville as an example of class, finally someone recognizes!

found it!

rs7k said:
I didn't hear "Nabokov sucks" chants during the Nashville game. It's a classless crowd, bottom line.
What you heard was, "Thank you Nabokov, may we have another? He Shoots He Scores, you suck! *dramatic pause* Nabokov x3, you suck! It's all your fault x3

4 OT's! I stayed up to watch the first OT and said screw it since I had to get up early, good thing I did. 4 OT's! That's 2.33 regulation games rolled into one game!

Good night of hockey

rs7k said:

They were probably too busy chanting "Red Wings suck". :lol

Also, ZOMG @ 4OT game. If only I could have watched it all. The first few periods were great.

I just woke up and saw the score. Damn, that Vancouver goalie is a beast. This is how soccer should be. None of those penalty shots.

It was so relentless.

They even stopped showing commercials almost entirely.

The only chance I ever had to get up for a piss or a snack was during the intermissions.

Speaking of which, it was hilarious seeing how Ron, Craig, and Kelly changed during the 6 intermissions. You could tell even they were getting fatigued. Kelly was stacking drink cups to match some guy in the arena that had built up a stack of 20 or so beer cups by the 6th period.

HE IS A GOD

I can't believe he wasted so many ****ing years with the Panthers. So much wasted time. This was his first playoff game! Insane.

Tampa should have pulled out all the stops to acquire him. But no, we had to pay a shitload of money for somebody we're scratching for the playoffs. We'd rather have a rookie back up Holmquist. Morans.

Well, the critics that were claiming that the 'Nucks rely on their goaltending too much haven't really been silenced after that marathon game. Pretty good game though.

That Sharks/Preds game was amazing, Gaylord was pretty rockin' last night. I can't beleive I predicted Rismiller to score, and it came true.

Oh and please stop showing Dave Nonis in the pressbox. Something about him that wants me to punch him in the face. Good GM though.

As a Sharks fan, I've got to say my team was playing like crap last night. That overtime really should have been Nashville's. Only wasn't because Nabokov rose to the occasion.

And on the note of Cheechoo, Ron Wilson seems to think we'll see him back sooner rather than later.

Meh. Every great playoff team relies on their goalie to some extent. Maybe not that extent, but they played a fairly solid game right up until the middle of the third period. Luongo really proved himself last night and has been echoed many times in this thread, so did Turco. I can't wait for more of this.

Huh? Denis is getting 2.9 mill, Luongo is getting 6.8.

Note to Snaku, Forza, The Internet, and anyone who complains that Luongo is very important to the Canucks' success: HE. WAS. NOT. CHEAP.

I find it a little annoying that some people are so up in arms that we now have an awesome goaltender after OUR general manager (part of the overall Canucks institution, among other institutions that similarly feature components as integral to success as the players on the ice) had the balls to unload both attractive players (at least at that time) and money to get him. That was a gamble. The Canucks lost several core/promising players and/or the ability to go out and get some other sweet FAs. They now lack a potent offense and depend on four lines to contribute something each offensively and play gritty, responsible, defensive hockey every night, which is often just enough to win by one goal given that they have a great goaltender. SO WHAT. IT WORKS. WE WIN. YOU DON'T.*

* maybe you do, but if you are among those that I speak of then well you probably ****ing dont

Hey, I'm not one of the critics that I was talking about in my post. I actually think the 'Nucks are a pretty good all 'round team. I'm an Oilers fan, I saw your team alot this season unfortunately.

wait what?

from the Get go everyone knew this trade was a rip off. any GM in the world would have made that deal in a heartbeat at the time. Mike Keenan got fired soon as he made the deal. This trade did not take any balls....all it took was a crappy GM on the other side.

Its funny alot of this season the canucks sorta remind me of the Wild :p

Ah ok. Just seemed like you were agreeing with whatever critics you speak of:

It's the "too much" that gets me. Doesn't really seem to make any sense.

I dunno man. It seemed like after we scored those goals to make it 4-2, we lost all our momentum because our first line (Grier, Thornton, and Milhalek) haven't been playing together lately. Cheechoo has been one of the best goal scorers in the league. It seemed like Marleau was playing great, we just need some of our other lines to step it up (and try to stop clearing it when we can make a good pass instead).

BTW, to Sefkillz, that hit to Cheechoo was freaking cheap as hell man. The knee to knee wasn't intentional (but that's probably where his injury is), but the dude who hit him also elbowed him in the face, and made him lose a tooth. Come ****ing on.
