Probably because Tootoo jumped Clowe from behind. But Tootoo embarassed himself so there really is nothing to get mad about.
yaya, clowe and grier were both messing with hartnell though and faces were smeared (guerin is king of this) after every play all game long. noone here is mentioning grier grabbing weber by the collar and yanking him down on the ice from behind at the end of the 2nd period though. this shit is both sides, despite whatever bullshit wilson is feeding everyone. you'd think people would understand his bullshit press mindgames by now, but you all still eat it up

tkachuk went nuts on avery at the end of the game today, still trying to track down some video.. avery was laying against the boards in the corner whining/post dive and tkachuk just takes his gloves off and grabs him by the face. couldn't really tell after that since the angle of my seats for it wasn't clear, but im hoping the tv footage is golden

I've watched both games from beginning to end, what's this whole Ron Wilson thing about? I don't watch the press conferences after the games, and I don't really care what Ron Wilson has to say.

And yeah, the Preds played defensively like they were supposed to when they have a lead. That's why I found it funny that you said the Oilers were playing a trap when in reality they were protecting a lead and you were like "z0mg teh Oilers are teh trap!1".

When I was watching the last period and saw how good the Preds were playing defensively, I was thinking of what you said last year about the Oilers and saw the Preds doing the exact same thing. I don't think the Preds play a trap at all, just wanted you to see that I could label the Preds a trap team for the rest of the playoffs (like you did with the Oilers) because they played the way they were supposed to with a lead.

After the Hartnell/Cheechoo hit Wilson claimed Hartnell put an elbow on him that knocked out a tooth, when in reality his elbow never hit him and the ice (if anything) knocked a tooth out. Then we were all told how Cheechoo was 'extremely doubtful' etc etc, Wilson basically keeping it all on the lowdown lobbying for a Hartnell suspension since he knows the league punishes based on resulting injuries rather than the act itself. Gametime rolls around, Cheechoo is on the ice. Miracle.

This series has gotten pretty ugly all around, but the press conference battles between Wilson and Trotz are fantastic.

I could have sworn I invited you, Ill send another. Word for today is assist

Concert conflict: In an every-other-day format, Games 3 and 4 of this series would have been scheduled for tonight and Tuesday instead of Monday and Wednesday.

San Jose's HP Pavilion is playing host to a Ricky Martin concert on Tuesday, so the games were slated for Monday and Wednesday to bookend the show.

"It's a pretty big day when Ricky Martin comes to town," Predators forward Darcy Hordichuk said with a chuckle. "Some people may say he's old news, but there must be a lot fans in San Jose that enjoy that. …"
:lol

game 3 sold out in 20 minutes, omigawd kansas city here we come

god damnit im just about to go to bed (9am pst) after finishing a take-home exam and the flames are about to play in an HOUR?? so weird. maybe ill take a quick nap and wake up to watch it. :D

GO WINGS!

I'm back, and more missed then a Bieksa slapshot!

Some questions going into tonight's game...

-Will Vancouver be able to score more goals then luongo's number?
-Will Naslund continue to be a healthy scratch?....wait HE PLAYED? Didn't notice.
-Is Luongo ready to carry Turco's bags at the 2010 Olympics?
-Where did Mike Modano find the Anti-Aging formula and can someone please give it to Trevor Linden?

Alright, Barrage's post was hilarious. Sorry 'Nucks fans. I'm actually rooting for Vancouver in the West too.

T-minus 6 hours until puckdrop at Mellon Arena. What's going to happen in today's game is anybody's guess.

As long as MAF keeps doing stuff like this, the Pens have a chance. I also wonder if Gerber might get the nod for Ottawa. So many unknown factors.

Alright, need to finish an essay before the game. GO GO GO.

Gerber's definitely not playing, unless Emery is injured or too tired (which I doubt).

Pretty much.

The Oilers trapped the entire series against the Wings last year, not just when they had a lead to protect. At the time it was a huge deviation from their normal style of playing. Maybe that's where the comments stemmed from.

I accepted your trade offer Allucard...just an FYI :)

I'm a pretty easy trader 1 for 1...in case you want to do more.

Sweet. Yeah, I really don't get why people reject 1-for-1 trades that are of even point values when they need the cards.

I certainly wouldn't say Tootoo embarassed himself, jumping in and taking on a guy half a foot taller and 50 pounds heavier, just to stick up for Hartnell who had two guys picking at him. But what can I say, I guess I'm uh... bias here?

I just offered you one, I need that Vezina :)

Damn, I need the Vezina too. Actually, I just need the Vezina and Recchi to have all the cards that are available right now.

Man, it's so awesome that we can watch the games streaming online. Alright, I'll just watch the first period of the Flames/Wings and then get back to my essay...

I can't tell if the Red Wings are playing this good or the Flames are this bad

I love the behind the goal camera angle for the powerplays. Good stuff.

I'm not so sure either but the Wings are lighting the Flames up.

I think it's a combination of both. 2-0 Wings now, on the 2-man advantage.

EDIT: Another 2-man advantage...Flames taking a ridiculous amount of penalties in the first 10 minutes.

EDIT 2: LOL. This is hilarious. One PP ends, another one begins. Flames have already taken 5 penalties and the game is not even 10 minutes old.

Sorry no more Vezina...and I don't have any extra Rechi's

Murray not impressed

Ottawa coach Bryan Murray didn't think much of Pittsburgh's performance in Game 2.

"They've won one game and didn't touch the puck for two periods," he said.

Ugh, way to go Murray...give Pittsburgh more dressing-room ammo. It's arrogance like this that was partially responsible for Ottawa's loss to Buffalo in the second round last year IMO.

Anyway...I'm going to refrain from making any predictions for today's game. Emery better step it up, though.

Damn. The Wings might get 50-60 shots in this game before it's all said and done. They'll likely get closer to 40, but 50 or 60 is possible if the Flames take a few more penalties.

LOL@Murray. What does it say for YOUR team when they win 2 of 3 periods and still lose the game? Murray should stop focusing on the Pens and start looking at his own team.

Interesting how this series is basically a rematch of the 2005 AHL championship between the Ottawa and Pittsburgh farm teams. Seriously, like 2/3rds of the players are facing each other again.

BTW Alucard, where are you getting this streaming video thing from? I've searched the CBC site but can't find it for some reason.

Edit: Nevermind, found it....just in time for the Calgary PP goal. This is pretty impressive actually, and no commercials. CBC actually does something right for once.

Well, Flames we're stinking it up until the playoffs. Still, they'll win at least one game at home. That'll probably be it, though, since they can't win on the road and haven't won back-to-back playoff games in some time, I don't think.

Hay Guys Flames were outshot badly!! lolz

Seriously **** that noise, the shots weren't the problem, 99% of them were taken from the half boards. Flames aren't playing physical enough or playing with their heads. They cannot figure out how to beat the trap and basically are being beat by their own system two years ago.

I'm looking forward to the games in Calgary because we all know they should be different.

I think the Flames still have a shot in this series, and that's because of Kiprusoff. He's unbelievable, even when the team is down and out he's doing whatever it takes to stop every shot.

Detroit has a sad crowd. It's a little louder than Ottawa's, but you can still hear a pin drop in there.

I actually think that Nashville has the loudest crowd in this years playoffs. Are there any numbers anywhere that could confirm this?

I'm sure some bitter Canadian hockey fan has developed a sabermetric stat for it.

Can we start banning people for this shit? I mean, seriously. The Red Wings? Trapping? If you're effectively implementing the trap and outshoot your opponent 97 to 35 over 2 games? My hat's off to you.

If I were the Pens coach, I'd start T-bo just to avoid playing a (probably) tired MAF. I could certainly be wrong--and for the Pens' sake, I hope I am--but I'm worried he might flake out tonight.

Are you watching the games? The Wings are playing a great trap. If anything you should be banned for thinking the Wings are not trapping. Learn hockey sweet cheeks.

I think that the Wings played well today but the Flames just played horrible. The performance in game 1 by the Wings was total domination and if they could keep that up through the playoffs I would say that they had a fair shot at getting to the Finals but today after the first period they seemed to tone it down a bit. Wonder how Bertuzzi will effect anything if he starts game 3.

Haha. Flames are pathetic on the road.
And the Detroit crowd totally blows. They were absolutely pathetic last year when the Wings played the Oilers. Hockeytown it is not.

:lol just :lol

they were forechecking pretty well all game long

It's all about getting the early lead. If the Flames were up after 1 period, they would be trapping and it would be a similar story in reverse. Though the Wings are playing a great forecheck as well, you can't deny that. They are putting a lot of pressure on the Flames D, rather than clogging the neutral zone 24/7.

The issue I've always had with the Flames is the clutching, grabbing, and obstruction that is a part of their play. This is what made their trap ugly to watch, and what made the Flames an embarrassment to the sport of hockey. It's good to see the refs call it, but I'm telling you now, they aren't going to call it in the 'Dome...they haven't all season.

All I'm hoping for is to split the wins in Calgary...if that can happen then I was wrong about my prediction, Detroit has this series.

Yeah, as brutal as the flames have been, I don't think anyone expects that to continue. A split in Calgary would be really nice.

You see Calgary has this goalie...his name is Mikka Kiprusoff I think...yeah thats who it is. :p

where the hells the beard? and the blatant disregard for mankind look in his eyes? and the water bottle?

Sigh. I find it hard to call it a "trap" when they're constantly in the opposing zone creating offensive chances. You're just using that ****ing term as a way to deflect just how poorly Calgary's playing.

Also ... sweet cheeks?
