You can see Samus in the back. Online much?

It's one of those wonderful things called 'cut scenes'.

I admit I never played echoes, but Metroid PRime certainly wasn't a FPS. It wes essentially a first person perspective on the Legend of Zelda game engine. You used the trigger to lock on which would strafe you around enemies, you auto aimed, did a ton of jumping, and really had to worry very little about combat overall. this was where the big "first person adventure" argument came from. I don't know what they did with MP2, but MP was most definitely not a FPS, despite shooter fans insisting it was (And a bad one at that) because they couldn't wrap their brains around what it was. a first person perspective version of the Legend of Zelda engine.

An interesting comment. I see your point, but I've never thought at the comparisons with Zelda.
I think that Metroid should stay away from the pure FPS genre and remain attached to the First person Adventure "tradition".

Wait wait wait....they are adding those Hunters rejects to my Prime game?
The Bionicle-like characters in MPH were designed by Retro so it's likely. :\

Guys, stop posting these. Please. Each is like a little jab into my heart. Someone needs to heal me quick by posting TONS OF SUPER METROID GIFS.

It seems that Metroid Prime 3 isn´t an important game for Nintendo since they are not releasing it in the christmas season. I am not surprised since the first Splinter Cell for Xbox raped the first game and the second game had horrible sales against an omnipotent Halo 2.

Yes, from what we've heard so far that's pretty much what you do with it. In fact a trailer showed Samus ordering her ship to blast away a rock wall in a desert/fire area.

It better have to do with puzzles and reaching new areas only

They might as well make MP3 a racing game if people are going to throw the 'imagination 'card around. If you want something other than Metroid simple: LOOK ELSEWHERE.

oh PLEASE...

Ok, then i want Metroid-spinoffs, where you control a federal space trooper.
Gameplay is complete heavy first person shooter action, with big multiplayer-features.
Multiplayer let´s you choose between federal space troopers and space pirates.

The game could be call "Metroid: Galactic Wars".

But until we get this spinoff, i´ll complain about the lack of multiplayer ^^

Ummm, it is an important game for Nintendo, it's just that it's much more niche that titles such as Halo and GTA, so it cannot afford to compete against them. Nintendo made a smart decision.

Its cool bc SMG is gonna out sell Halo 3 this christmas. Count on it.

And I'll keep telling you to look elsewhere. Deal.

You dont get it, my friend :-)

I want federal space troopers vs. space pirates.
I want exactly those 2 groups fighting each other, first within an epic singleplayer-campaign, then in a big multiplayer-battle.
I cant look elsewhere ^^

Those screens of Metroid look like crap....so many jaggies and it's too blurry to know what's going on. Gamecube total?

At least Galaxy and Brawl actually look good. Anywho, it meant to be about gameplay right?.....but still

Everyone should be excited about MP3. It is a real FPS now! With real FPS controls!

Sarcastic trolling aside, you do have a point. MP3 is a showcase that justifies the Wii control scheme more than anything else. After a year, it is time to see the extent of the superiority of motion controls to the control pad.

does EVERYONE in Japan hate Metroid Prime? even if they´re not japanese?
I rather liked the first one, I didn't even play the second one though. It just looked like an expansion pack. I'm only interested in this because of the wiitrols.

watching that again it does look like these screens could be taken from the old trailer build... but i wont get my hopes up. somehow i think nintendo forgot to send retro the ductape

Sucks to be you, I'm afraid. I was only offering advice that might be more helpful than whining about wanting something that isn't what Metroid is about in the first place; if you weren't so specific, you might have found decent approximations of what you're requesting for elsewhere.

It wasn't meant to be sarcastic. Its the truth.. everyone major complaint was the controls and now they are fixed. MP3 could be very awesome this go round.

I'm annoyed Nintendo hasn't discovered the magical world of ANTI-ALIASING!!!

Cool. Sorry about the misunderstanding. I'm a bit confused at all the disappointment as well.

There isn't much to be confused about. People are unhappy with the direction to include things that don't belong, like the shitty friends sp0rsk keeps mentioning.

I actually agree with this which is why I expressed my disappointment in the first place. This just looks like yet another Metroid Prime with wiitrols and some badly designed 'friends'. It would be nice to have a little more than just another expansion pack.

I'll rent it for sure to test out the wiitrols.

Honestly? I'd love a co-op Metroid. Two players exploring the world together would be an awesome shared experience.

But.

I honestly don't think the people asking for a co-op Metroid have really thought things through with regard to level design, that is this:
Designing the game for a single player and designing the game for co-op - particularly the puzzles - are two different things. Single-player enables you to construct challenges stemming from the character only being able to carry out one action at a time - co-op enables you to construct challenges stemming from the characters having to do two simultaneous actions at the same time.

Permitting both single-player and co-op play *vastly* reduces your options with puzzle design, as you have to accomodate either number of players. Focussing on a single aspect - as Four Swords also did - allows you to create a better, more intricate game than being all things to all people.
