Official Nintendo Media Event Thread! May 22-23rd!

Yeah give some info on who exactly is making this.

Also I believe it's a requirement that all toy guns in the US have at least a bright orange cap on the barrel, there's no way you could sell something like that in the US.

Wow. Is that third party or official Nintendo?

Regardless, that looks fun and well designed. Love how the nunchuck gets plugged into the bottom.

that is pretty awesome. Have we seen any other peripherals that allow you to chain multiple peices to one remote? That's actually pretty big news

I don't think nintendo would make an official Gun accessory.

of course they wouldn't

Y'know, couldn't they make a gun like that, but stick A and the +-pad on the backside of the handle (towardsthe top)? That would make the buttons pretty accessible to the thumb, but out of the way enough that you wouldn't notice them if the game didn't call for their use.

Right now, it's seriously lacking in button-accessibility.

I thought it was cool until I saw this image. Then i thought it was FREAKING AWESOME.

Area 51 please?

And for controls, it's for light gun games. You need exactly 3 buttons:

1. trigger, reload (shooting off screen)
2. move forward
3. grenade

Everything else is for a keyboard.

its not chainging multiple pieces into one remote, its essentially an extension cord for the nunchuck cable

Missing:
-Change weapon: you could press 1 or 2 on the Wii remote :/
-Crouch: Shame the joystick on the nunchuck can't be pressed (again could be replaced by the A button)

An extra button on the grip could be useful

I love it when Reggie talks about videogames...it always sounds like it´s some serious business, that will change the world...i wonder what Reggie would do if he´d become president of the US...

Busy, frustrating day. Turns out the press in Europe didn't realize that the Paris press conference was under embargo until tomorrow, so a lot of stuff hit there before it should have. I quickly posted up the relevant news already and will have a shit ton of screens, impressions and videos tomorrow. McMike is at Nintendo as we speak and plans to post the few non-embargoed things later on tonight, the rest hits Friday. So it's going to be a busy rest of the week.

Un-embargoed info eh?

^ Don't expect anything but info on The Bigs, Drawn To Life, Boogie, Carnival Games and Jam Sessions on the non-embargoed front.

Yeah...

So I'm hearing that there really is nothing worthwhile that will be reveled on Friday when the embargo is lifted. Nothing on Metroid Prime 3, Smash Brothers or Mario Galaxy. They mostly just touted their success and then showed 3rd party stuff like the carnival game.

From the sound of it, they're saving EVERYTHING until their pre-E3 Media Summit press conference in July. :\

Meh total. Oh well, good to know ahead of time.

****!

This light gun business got me thinking... why hasn't anyone used an actual light gun last generation to make a FPS? It wouldn't be as accurate, of course, but the gun can use the movement information to move the screen around. There should've been some rudimentary attempts, right?

In the calibration screens of Point Blank 3 there was a 'drag the cursor round the screen' with the gun element, but it was far to laggy to be useful in-game.

LOL. So Matt C. had me pumped up for nothing. "Big news" for Corruption he said. A release date and a handful of poor screenshots?

There will be good news. I'm sure some of the big news will be in mags next month but something has to come out on Friday on MP 3. The whole event was about MP 3 according to Matt C last week. Ign fails.

From gonitendo that took from kotatu

One more confirmation of Nintendo Media Summit news this Friday

A portion of a Kotaku post…

McMike is at Nintendo as we speak and plans to post the few non-embargoed things later on tonight, the rest hits Friday. So it’s going to be a busy rest of the week.

The releasedate IS "big news" though, knowing that a game you anticipate that could've slipped into '08 - is coming in in less then 3 months is certainly news.
All the other stuff? Meh, we'll discover that ourselves when we play the damn game.

A trailer would be nice, but we know a new one will come eventually so it's not like we NEED IT NOW!8!
