Official Patapon (PSP) LOVE Thread

So I'm stuck at the rain miracle.....I can't seem to be able to do a "DonDonPataDonDonDonDon".....I've tried more than 20 times already (no joke). Please someone upload a savegame after that shitty level. Thanks.
Right now I feel like setting this game on fire....

How the hell are people making this mistake? THE PATAPONS SAY PON BEFORE YOU PRESS IT! >_<

STUPID FUICKING GAME DEVS!!!! why would they let you advance even if you make so much mistakes (in contrary to every other level before) by pressing X instead of O.
I wasted an hour of my life on that. At least the game was dirt cheap...

Thx for helping me.

Finally finished teh game.

You can get a miracle without a 100% success rate. Don't be so ignorant....

I'm stuck on this level too, but the main reason is that I have had the Divine Stew equipped and did not know that it causes all your attacks to have a % for setting fire to target. So don't equip that. I'm sure you already equipped non-fire weapons, aside from that, use all the firepower you have, invoke the Tailwind Juju so your archers have some range, and settle for the King's Stew. Make sure you're in fever so you get your 3x bonus for the archers. That's what I'm going to try anyway. RIGHT NOW

edit: tailwind juju is off limits cos of the desert, just realised, so scratch that

edit 2: that did it, was a bit tough though. annoying game sometimes

Thanks, I don't know what a stew is though everytime i try to do the minigame i dont have the item it wants me to give it :(

Heh same here. I mashed the X button and tried it like 20 times before noticing you should press O. It is pretty shitty, that the game never told you, you pressed the wrong button.

Timing and fever are so easy in this. Don't mind the visual help or the patapon chanting. Just count 1234 in your mind all the time and the fever never stops.

Just opened the first castle and got this sweet horn-dude archer. Cost 900 kaching ;__;

I love this game and all but jesus christ the desert stage is insanly hard. Any tips? Fever is always a huge problem for me because the moment you hit fever the patapons scream some insane shit instead of the usual chant and it totally throws my sense of rhythm (assuming that I even have a shred of rhythm sense in me) off-balance.

Truf. I still can't get past the ridiculous desert stage.

for those of you who are having trouble with fever, i suggest you either pay attention to the edge of the screen or keep your own sence of rhythm by tapping your feet or bobbing you head.

If you rely on too much on the patapons' responses, you will have even more troubles in the later stages where they regularly chant irrelevant shits, even before you enter fever mode.

If you're having a lot of trouble here's a tactic. When you get to the hot desert sand (talking sign), do the chacka dance until you hit fever, then do the rain dance. After that you lose fever, get it back by advancing and attacking and immediately do the rain dance again. Repeat. Don't attack or advance in fever, just call the rain and continue. The enemies don't do that much damage in that level, just the sand.

It may be slow and tedius, but if you have a problem maintaining fever this should get you past the level.

I've been stuck on the desert stage for 3 days. I can start the rain up once or twice per attempt, but since they force you to redo it over and over again I can't. It's ridiculous that a game built on rhythm would intentionally try to throw your rhythm off by having your characters scream over the beat.

Stupid.

I'm giving the level ONE MORE chance today. If I don't pass it, I'm going to dump on it and move on to something else. It's insanely hard for such an early level in the game, and I am VERY good at music/rhythm games. This one just won't click with me no matter what I do.

Getting Fever mode going isn't the issue, it's transitioning from the Fever kicking in into making the rain JuJu work. It seems to fail 99% of the time because you can't pick up the beat with those little nutsucks yelling ridiculously.

if I upload my save file can somebody get past the rain miracle part for me, I just cant seem to keep it going and its fustrating.

If you have problems transitioning into fever then you need to tap your feet to keep the rhythm. Also on the desert stage you only need to have the rain going when you approach the scorching part of the desert; the part where the warning sign is. A single usage of the rain juju should be able to get you through that section.

I noticed that and yes it certainly does help but goddamn it's still insanely hard.

You'll have to either have a sense of rythmn or pay attention to the edge of the screen, because I assure you like lunluqq has said, they're going to say even more insane shit instead of "Pata Pata Pata Pon" that will put you off even more later in the game.

Are you talking about the actual miracle Pon.. Pon.. Pon.. or the X.. XX.. XX.. part?

I always thought the Miracle chant itself was very leniant.

who wants ome Ka-ching???

so I have this 6257 Ka-ching sitting in my alter of which I don't have much use. I really hope there is a way in the game to keep updating your troops to infinity.

Just got past the desert crossing level there. Took me a couple of attempts to get it down right but seems okay now. I can't seem to transition back to a regular beat after the rain dance is successful, I always lose the fever as soon as the rain starts. Think I'm just missing the first beat after the last 'Pon' chant.

Still loving it however it's the sort of game I can only take in short bursts. Any more than a twenty or thirty minute attempt results in me losing all rhythm and sense of beat. Same thing happened with Ouendan too oddly enough.

Nope, the JuJu kills your fever.

That's irritating too, because if you break your combo at around 6 or 7, the rain will run out before you can get back into Fever to get it restarted.

The JuJu part is super easy, it's the X . XX . XX that is tough.

I'm no pro, but as soon as it gets into Fever I just stop paying attention to the game sound completely and just count out four beats in my head and pick up on the fifth.

I can't decide if counting beats or watching the border works easiest for me. I've had varying levels of success using both methods. Just wish I could sit and watch the li'l guys do their thing though. Some of the action is hilarious. Which is usually when I miss the beat and lose the fever!

I'm through, great game.

The Game suggestes to mix megapons with rarepons. how to!? what's the best combination of ponpons? XD
Rarepon is just a term the game uses to describe rare (and expensive) variants of Patapons.

For example, you can mix a simple Alloy and a simple Wood and get a basic Megapon.

But if you mix Magic alloy and Hinoki wood, you will get much more powerful variant of Megapon, which would classify it as rarepon.

Btw, Megapon, probably a pun of Megaphone, because they have those megaphone looking weapons :-)

Could you answer my question (just above)...what if I can't make any more patapons b/c all my slots are full? What do I do to make more or uprade my current patapons?

How many actual missions are in this game? I'm on #32 right now (finished GoW first) and curious as to how much more PON I get?

Hit select when highlighting one of your guys and you can kill it.

Does anyone know how to sacrifice something on the altar? The game said I should try it...but I don't know how.

They probably mean make new Patapons by mixing the materials (meat + something usually) at the Tree of Life altar, not where they are dancing around.

I guess another gripe I have is that the documentation in the game is pretty sketchy. It's not always clear how to do stuff or what they mean when they say something.

Anyway, cross your fingers for me GAF. I'm heading home from work in a few minutes and I'm giving that stupid desert level on last shot. If I can't get by, I'm giving up. I figure 4 days of trying is plenty.
