Official Prince of Persia Thread

Color me strange, but I am distracted listening to Drake pretending to be the Prince. To me, that voice is Drake first and foremost. It takes me out of the game in the same way that hearing Marcus Fenix just makes me think it's Bender talking more about locusts and less about biting shiny metal asses.
Glad I haven't played Uncharted yet then :lol

lol... I'm a huge futurama fan and I had no idea Fenix was Bender. I'm glad I didn't really because it's all I could have pictured. :lol

I'm gonna think Marcus Fenix is Wakka from now on. :lol

Also, the PS3 version needs Nathan Drake and Elena Fisher unlockable costumes.

So what are all the unlockable skins? Default, Sands of Time, Altair, and ?

Also, I wonder how DLC would work in this game, other than new skins.

See to me its the opposite. Drake is awesome but the prince is funny too and I think is more motivated by gettin some from Elika. Luckily shes not ugly or annoying like Elena.

Glad I didnt listen to GAF on this one game is awesome. If you think its not hard try getting the less than 100 'deaths' achievement I know I wont.

Got this yesterday here, code for sands of time prince 525858542

if you want Altair go create an account on ubisoft.com

Got it. Love it. Having no issues with the controls or the difficulty. Game is beautiful and moves sooooo geeeewd.

Shit you always have a good taste in games so I can't wait!

Its in the fucking room beneath me yet I can't play it :(

Oh and I took a peek in the artbook, might be able to make some pics for y'all if I can find my transfer cable, it's fucking sweet!!!

Exactly how I felt. Glad you're enjoying it.

I really didn't doubt that I would. I've said it few times, but Elika is pretty much rewind from sands for me. I think it's exactly the same thing. I haven't died very much so far, but when I have it's been because I wondered if I could make a certain jump.

I'm not feeling the "disconnected" feeling others have mentioned. Maybe because I read about it, I was prepared. You've always queued attacks in battles in this series and I never press jump more than once, anyway.

The level design is fucking amazing thus far and I really can't wait to see more. I've cleared two areas of corruption and got my first ability (the red one, forget the name). I have to go leave now, but I wish I could play more.

Elika in Farrah's costume is hot. :D

sorry if this has already been covered but what do you have to do to get altair? (PS3)

i have an ubisoft.com account but i cant see any way of linking my psn to that. do you have to do it in the game or something?

really loving this so far, they've nailed the movement controls, for me its perfect.

It worked for me pretty fast. Then again I already linked me with Far Cry 2 so it might've remembered me.

Just got this today, the LE from GS. I beat the first "section". So far I like the platforming, even if it feels like it's holding you by the hand. The story seems good and enough to keep one interested. Hearing Drakes voice was a little jarring but you accept it after a few. Love the visuals and audio. Enjoying it so far.

Unlocked classic skins using a GS code that I never received.
Unlocked Altair by linking my PSN with the Ubi account I created a day or two ago. Took about a minute.

From the title screen hit Triangle (PS3) to access "exclusive content" and link your PSN and Ubi IDs.

There's not nearly enough music. As much as I loved the world regenesis theme, I'm getting tired of it.

Is my game borked? I just killed the Warrior in the Ruined Citadel (I think) and had Elika step into the fertile ground here. Now the prince just sits there watching Elika hovering in the beam of light, while the camera spins around and around, and I hear demonic whispering. Occasionally the Prince will interject with a "This place is almost nice..." but beyond that, NOTHING'S happening. The only button that does anything is Start, which pauses.

Edit - Tsk. Apparently you have to keep on pressing/holding Triangle to continue. I suppose that's what I get for turning the tutorials off. But they're just so fucking in-the-way.

Did you remember to mash Y ?

Seriously. Casting Nolan as the Prince has to be the worst video game casting I have seen in a while.

What ever happened to the Prince from SoT/T2T? He was awesome!

ahhh, so I have to get some abilities before I can reach certain light seeds? For some reason I didnt realise (although it should be obvious).

Awesome glitch today, I was standing on a platform and it fucking disappeared while I was standing on it. So Elika saved me and brought me back to the nonexistant platform and I fell again. Luckily it decided to pop back in after she saved me the second time.

Anyways, anyone know how to get the Assassin view or Titanic view trophies? Are they story related or what?

Yeah, it seems like we're going to have to learn how to vault off those wall patterns before we can, you know, use 'em.

Really not feeling the game so far. I don't know how, but they managed to make the camera, platforming, and combat all worse than last gen's PoP games.

Like it so far..
Loved one of the dialogs between The Prince and Elika, about how she was not that cute to be following her orders, then she says that maybe if her dad told him that he may have listened, to which he replied with "he's not that cute either".. .. :lol :lol

What do you have to do for the gamestop code?

The code's all over the net. Gamefaqs has it, for example.
Go into the Skin Manager and hit Triangle (or Y on the 360?), IIRC, to enter the numerical code.

Ah, cool. I was wondering if it was a unique code or just typing something in. Good to hear.

I finished it. I liked it, definitely. It's no Sands of Time. In most ways, I don't know if it is even close. It's almost an entirely different game to me. It's the complete and total package in terms of presentation and I enjoyed the story. Cool game. Please go back to old style platforming for the sequel. :)

I got frustrated towards the end of the game since it becomes pad after pad after pad after pad, and those are the only times you DON'T get checkpoints. And those sequences are so lame when you string together 15 of them.

This is the most "polished" game Ubisoft has put out since the original Splinter Cell. Gorgeous, great performance, almost no tearing, very smooth gameplay (though I guess it is a bit simplistic so they could do that!), and stuff like that. I was impressed. I'm used to Ubi games being somewhat of a mess.

edit: The credits have that lame "text skipping" shit that Resistance 2 has. That is so weird.

No, I don't think so...

On the ending:
where have i seen this before?
hmmmm hmmmmm where where where hmmmmmm

Just finished it too, got all 1001 Light Seeds and all that. I didn't even come close to beating the game under 12 hours, in fact, I probably have put nearly 25-30 hours into it from just collecting seeds to doing the "speed runs" across the regions. I suppose I'll probably restart the game tomorrow or in a couple of days to go for the trophies for being saved by Elika fewer than 100 times, and beat the game under 12 hours.

Seriously, such an awesome game.

This just happened to me...very lame.

Thank God I'm not the only person this happened to. I felt stupid after I figured it out, but the on-screen tutorials are annoying and clunky. I did have a point earlier on where it wouldn't let slide down a wall until I turned them off.

Anyway, the game is growing on me. Once you get a few more abilities, it starts to feel more dynamic. It's weird, the platforming is pretty automatic and doesn't require tons of button pressing, but I just finished Mirrors Edge where you are constantly hitting buttons, so learning not to tap A all the time actually makes it sort of difficult.

So far the game is fun. The aesthetic elements are fantastic, and the platforming can be pretty fun, but there's something missing from it. It's like all of these great separate elements aren't quite gelling with one another. Not a big deal, but it feels empty somehow.

Purchased the game. Spent around 5 hours playing it. Already have three powers, and I've cleared one area. I've still got 13 Fertile Grounds to hit before I'm done, though, if I'm counting correctly.

I'm really enjoying it. The presentation is incredible. The world looks great, and I love the contrast and the way it moves between corruption and healed. The platforming generally works for me. It's not too hard, but when you're paying attention and doing things right, everything feels so smooth. Very relaxing, in a way.

The story is also working well for me. Even if the Prince is a bit too snarky at times, I really like Elika, and I like the way the relationship between them is developing at this stage. The setting is interesting, and I like the look and concept of it. Having Elika there as a guide adds a lot.

Two things annoy me at the moment. One is that the platforming can occasionally be unresponsive. Failure is more likely to occur as a result of the player doing something different than expected, rather than as a result of an inability to execute. I'm not saying that failure needs to be common, but many of the ones that do occur are frustrating. Not game-breaking for me, but it might bother others more.

The other annoying thing has to do with the light seeds. I like collecting things and all, and thinking of ways to get to out-of-the-way places, but the majority of the light seeds are strewn along paths that you normally navigate. That may make it easier for some to go along getting ones they need without having to go out of their way, but if you're going for all of them (or most of them), having to backtrack through areas you've already been through multiple times (especially if you miss one for whatever reason) is annoying and unfun. Almost gives me Assassin's Creed flashbacks, which isn't a good sign. Though perhaps, like Assassin's Creed, it might be best for me not to be too obsessive about it, just get the ones I need, and finish without beating myself up over seeds.

Still, I'm really enjoying myself, and it's definitely one of the more memorable titles of the year. As long as I pace myself a bit better (don't wan to blaze through it in a few days if I can help it), I think I'll be very happy with it.

personally, I'm hoping for the final Elika costume to be Lara Croft. I laughed when they threw out that "Tomb Raiding" reference :lol

And yes, PS3 version needs Nathan Drake as a skin.

I seconded that. :D

Thanks a bunch to everyone for posting that code. I was bummed it was a gamestop exclusive.

I've done about 12 areas so far in the game and while I'm enjoying it, I have to say I miss the numerous "puzzle rooms" the were in Sands of Time. I've one run into a few places where I actually had to stop and think about what to do.

lol, I'm going through my last save file before the ahriman finale, and just collecting light seeds. I went to the top of heaven's stair, and what do I find? Floating plates :lol

You know, the ones you had to traverse on the giant blimps while escaping the observatory :lol

Anyways, some of these lightseed locations are a bitch. I'm missing two from the Queen's tower, and I don't see them ANYwhere.

okay...

I have 1000 light seeds.

where the fuck is the last one? Does anyone know?

edit: :lol, if you run to right of the temple, near the cliff, you'll see the life tree floating in the air :lol

God, this game seriously needed more time for polish.

edit2: oh, according to gamefaqs, you get it during the ending of the game or something.

Oh man.. I have to get it. Just have to. The screenies look absolutely amazing!

This and Banjo Kazooie: N&B are going under the christmas-tree this year... And perhaps... Just perhaps... Guitar Hero: World Tour.
