Ryan Coogler talks for the first time about helming Marvel’s Black Panther

After stating that he’s “absolutely” approaching Black Panther in the same personal and intimate asCreed, Coogler added: “I’m excited. I grew very into pop culture, very into comic books, so it’s something that is just as personal to me as the last couple of films I was able to make. I feel really fortunate to be able to work on something I’m this passionate about again.” As for when work on Black Panther begins, it sounds like it’s already started!

There is part of me that hope Spidey just pisses off everyone. I could see him really getting under someone like BP's skin... then again that's almost a super hero power of itself for Spidey and something they never did enough of in any of the movies.

There's a fine line though between mischevious and annoying. They tried to get there with ASM but never quite stuck the landing.

Damn. Is Black Panther a bit of an anti-hero as well? I've read that he's willing to do anything to protect Wakanda (which is why he's going to side with Stark in the movie IIRC).

If T'Challa is running around then T'chaka is dead , maybe the winter soldier played a part in that .

Well I never really considered Spidey mischevious, I mean he does get up to some shit at times but for the most part he took Uncle Ben's advice to heart and tried to be responsible for the most part. Doesn't mean he wont use his powers to deliver a pizza faster or get a picture for the Bugle.

I just really enjoyed how he could piss off a villian that they would eventually fuck up. I mean that seems to be his entire strategy against the Rhino is to make him mad, charge, dodge and have him smash into something that takes him out.

Goddammit I love the BP/Namor feud so much. If there's a god in heaven, it finds a way to make it to the big screen.

It was beyond perfect. The perfect 'in another world they'd both be friends, but they're just too into self-preservation' duo.

The Earth of the MCU has been through some pretty transformative stuff. Seems strange to me that Wakanda would stay reclusive through a full-scale alien invasion. Ostensibly Cap, Stark and Klaue are the only ones who know of its existence or have had any dealings with it, and Banner couldn't even pronounce the name right.

Given that he's a big part of Civil War, I'm sure they'll address this, but I feel like they could have done a better job at sowing the seeds.

So here is a somewhat OT question which my be better suited to a more comic focused thread but how to the people of Wakanda view black folk in the rest of the Marvel world? Do they feel for the plight of their brothers and sisters who live in far less amazing places as Wakanda or do they look down on them because they haven't risen to their levels of greatness? Or something else altogether.

I love the idea of a futuristic black super power and I know they are all about protecting their own but it isn't something I really see talked about on BP and Wakanda, or maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.

Curious how the most serious protagonist in MCU solo movie will work. This will be good right Slayven?

its not that serious ;3

A blockbuster movie is going to be called Black Panther. There's going to be tons of promotional material, advertisements, posters, etc with "Black Panther" on it in big letters.

This rules so much.

Did we ever find exactly what happened?

All I remember was Whedon taking Wright's side on something.

The original script was written ages ago, before the MCU was a thing really. So Marvel had to make changes to make it fit with where the universe is now and Wright didn't like that. They parted.

Whedon didn't really take sides, he basically said sometimes you have two great separate friends who are good people but aren't necessarily a good match when put together

I'm still trying to get over that but it's hard.

I rather them but have even got Wright in the first place. Ant-Man was average, somewhat forgettable fun, so at least it didn't suffer too much.

Ant-Man was a better comic book movie than Scott Pilgrim was.

Just gonna leave it at that.
