Is it like '08? Because there were some laggy games on there, but for the most part, they were decent.

even in 08 it always felt like there was lag. it's the same shit in 09. dont even bother playing tag team matchs.

Best Believe....

To bad I bet you bought this for 360 or I'd give you a good thrashing EL OH EL....

Weren't you boxing as this fine gentlemen in those Fight Night Round 3 matches? Anyways the result was just like this pic...

I still own the game, and the GAF title is on my mantle still all dusty!

Glad to see you got SvR09.. I am truly surprised at how polished the gameplay seems. They have more sliders this year to tweak how it plays as well. All this game needs is legends in it and it would be really great. Oh well, got my Jericho on next gen finally though.

Official Nintendo Magazine: 84% for the Wii version

+ The best Smackdown for years
+ Plenty of match types
+ Solid career and story modes
+ Context-motion moves rock
- Controls still not quite perfect

Link to Review

I will have to give the Wii version a rental (did not like the PS3 demo much) because I liked what they tried to do last year with motion controls, if they did really adjust and fix some of the problems and shorcomings then it could be a possible buy.

The Wii version gave the series a new feel being more arcade and fast moving then its other counterparts, but the rushed feel and ugly graphics of last years version (it did not look even close to Day of Reckoning 2 on the GC for christs sake) was unacceptable.

Can't beleive there's no online co-op in this. I would have sworn I heard that somewhere. THQ ftw! Oh well, perhaps next year.

meh

I just got my copy........... too bad I can't play it!

(thx microsoft!)

Any more impressions? I'm seriously considering picking this up for some reason. I have the wrestling itch...
Depends.

I like the gameplay more than previous games. Not exactly great, but it's improved. Tag team matches are better as long as some jackass doesn't try to ruin it.

I haven't played any single story modes yet. I got the IC title with my Create a Superstar in Career mode. The Create A Finisher is also very cool.

I just started the story mode. I like the fact it is more story focused with 6 distinct storylines, which I all assume leads to Mania, but there are some weird moments.

I started as CM Punk and thus far have had two encounters... where not quite sure how to finish the match or segment.

The manager match with Dreamer got DQed but went on for like 5 more mins and an encounter when Burke attacks that wasn't a match that just randomly ended.

I'll do pros and cons since I've had a few days with it.

Cons;

- Road To Wrestlemania sucks. It's repetitive, with stupid storylines and it's tedious as hell to play the matches. Like, you'll get a title shot, but some guy HAS to get you DQ. It's part of the story so you cant avoid it. This means you won't be allowed to win the match, even if your opponent's body is all red. I did it for the unlockables and never going back.

- Highlight Reel is pretty useless. Used it once to get the achievement. Meh..

- The retarded way you have to build up you CAWs stats. Though I'll give THQ credit in they are patching, but it's a con for now!

Pros;

- Amazing CAW mode. It's seriously unrivaled by anything (Maybe FP) and is one of the main reasons for buying it. You can create literally any wrestler in any federation, with custom music. For this reason alone it's better then TNA 'cause their CAW mode is ass.

Just check out the Hogan created here. It's unreal.

- CAF is pretty awesome. Canadian Destroyer FTW. Or if you wanna be really annoying you can just do 9 green mists into a RKO.

- It's fun!

I suck at this.

That Hogan looks awesome, but on the same hand he has been in countless Smackdowns.

Let's see some real stuff.

Looks like the CAWs still standout like a sour thumb when compared to the in-game models.

IGN made the create-a-finisher sounds super limiting.

And why is it only finishers? Can you not make standard moves?

A person would have to re-create the CAW himself. They removed Trade Superstars I believe from the online.

Getting the stars stats is the biggest pain in the butt.

This years wii version is a huge improvement over last years. Its really, really fun. Totally agree with the review of its the best smackdown game in years.

Interact intros (doin trips taunt n water spit, orton poses, hbk prayin to satan etc) are all really fun. The moves are done well, the controls feel alot better than last years too. They sorted irish whip out and for the most running at the opponent works well, althought still no running the ropes.

Every wrestling fan (or ex) needs to at least rent this game, its worth it.

Things I have loved so far

- Punting peoples heads off with randy orton after an RKO, controls feel soo good :lol
- After the bell rings, and ur hand goes up for the win, picking opponent up again and hitting upto 3 finishers on them
- Road to wrestlemania is better than raw or smackdown has been on tv in years in terms of production values and story.
- Actually dropping to my knees to do HBKs intro :lol
- Pulling people up then smashing them down with the pedigree :D

Things I do not like

- Momentum builds up to fast
- wii graphics

Thanks for the impressions. Are the Wii graphics really that bad? Is it at all an improvement over last year.

I have quite a big backlog, so it might be a month or so before I can buy it.

Older fire pro games used to let you attack after the bell....
It sucks that the Current Gen HD consoles end after the match I wish you could attack afterwards....

Graphics in menus etc are horrible, but that don't really count. The models look really good actually, but poor res doesn't help. The crowd is right out of no mercy lol

Id recommend this over the 360 version, as its just fun. For the first time in years, I have been excited to try the next wrestler on the roster to see there interactive intro and moves.

Mr. Kennedy's is excellent, his speech comes out the tv and the wiimote.

I don't know if anyone is doing campaign

But if anyone did Triple H's... curious is the HBK/Orton thing at No Way Out a branching plot?

I did Orton just because he was winning. Wondering if should go through as HBK again.

Yes, there's 2 storylines for HHH. Evolution and DX. Depending on who you let win the title match that's what you'll get.

Plus, there's unlockables for doing each one.

I just did both.
I liked the DX one better.
And honestly think it would have made a decent storyline in real life. :lol

Two down.
Like 4 more to go.

this game online has to be the most broken POS ever. Reversing a move is tough offline but online w/ lag is complete shit.

jesus

I played a Single w/ Manager vs. Single and it was like playing a handicap match. I started beating the guy, he runs outside and throws his manager in the ring which allows the manager to run in and beat me up anytime they feel like it.

Played a extreme rules match 1 on 1 and couldn't get a shot in. The guy punched me to death. I ran out and got a weapon so he tried to dive over the ropes and missed. He wouldn't get in the ring afterwards. The fuck is this shit?

Only reason I gave online another go is because the last online match I had was a triple threat and that was a good match. No cheese and no double teams. Now it's like bottom feeder central.

I just played a bit of the PS2 version i rwally liked it
Im thinking on get the PS3 version so my question is: it has trophies or are they gonna be patched?

Nope, and no plans

I don't think THQ have created a game that supports trophies yet, and probably will never until Sony makes it mandatory.

Why did they get rid of the GM mode?

I think GM mode had potential in 07 and got bogged down too much in 08, and that carried over to season mode... I mean the idea of working out, and doing movie shoots sounds good on paper... until you realize... you don't really do any of it.

I do like Career/Title mode in this game though.

And don't know if jobber is still around, but you should join up on some GAF games of SvR 09... usually pretty solid and a lot of commentary from Fox. :lol

:lol You need to get on more to hear our commentary. Striker gets involved too from time to time.

I actually quit the game until they patch the caw attributes/abilities. No way I'm taking all 30 of my caws through the career mode (which is complete ass)

They said before Jan 31st so fingers crossed!

It's a deal between Sony and WWE. You never noticed in every commercial, it was pimping the PS3 version?

Wait, does that mean you can't copy CAWs with their stats intact? The CAW mode was the only reason I was looking at this.

I'll definitely wait for that patch then.

If you copy, the abilities and stats go over, I do believe.
