The next item up for discussion was the SIXAXIS. It was a 20 meter wireless range, 30 hours of battery life for one charge, and a tool that the community is just starting to fully harness. It will come with an AC cord, USB mini-cable, ethernet cable, Multi-AV cable with composite connectors. Tretton said that there is no power brick - only a cord.

First party titles will retail at $59.99. The controller with be $49.99, and the memory card adapter will be 14.99, and the Blue Ray remote will come in December for $24.99.
Sony treats the customer right with cheap accessory prices

Bah, only the controller is cheaper then what we'd thought it would be. Damn, the Japanese really are getting the better prices all around :(

I can assure you he (Luke) has always been critical of pretty much everything.
Thank you.

That’s what I wanted to know.

I've got no problem with him being a "skeptic" (we need them) as long as he spreads it around equally.

rofl, weren't the controllers like 40 in Japan when converted to US dollars?

wtf Sony, you are not MS, don't overcharge like they insist on doing

No component cables confirmed. WTF is that ghey shit. Next gen hardware w/o decent cables out of the box? ****ing weak.

i predicted sony america would round up their conversion rates to $50 for the controller. so much for affordable.

JP controller was announced at 5000 yen or about $42US depending on current rate

Are people really that upset at $50 for the controller?

When you compare what's in it to the dual shock and how much that cost ... it seems like a pretty good price.

packing in a blu-ray movie, with ****ing composite cables? do you want this format to fail sony? :lol

I don't even get why the premium pack gets an ethernet cable as well. You already got wireless with that package, why even bother with a cable?

Should've dropped the ethernet cable from the premium and include a component cable instead. I know, component is probably a bit more expensive but hey, it would justify the premium price a tiny bit more at least. ;)

wtf, i'll be spending $200 on controllers this nov. :(
Sony said rumble would add to cost, but come on, drop the controllers to like $39.

AHHH :(

2:23 p.m.: Harrison says the team is in the home stretch, and stresses how proud Sony is of what they're going to show us today. He introduces Ted Price to the stage to talk about Resistance and give a live demo.

2:24 p.m.: Price is showing Nottingham, England after the alien invasion. He demonstrates some of the weapons, like the standard assault rifle, the bullseye (tag an enemy and then fire tracing bullets at him, or a temporary shield.

Recommend filling it with sand or something because it certainly doesn't feel like something worth fifty samoleans.

Gamespot:
2:20 p.m.: Now it's time to talk demo kiosks. Sony will send out 15,000 kiosks that will debut October 26. They will feature Sony Bravia HD monitors. "Universally, PS products will have the lead-in position. they will have dominant shelf space," he says. He also says the kiosks will be networked so they can stream game demos and they'll no longer be dependent on someone carrying a disc into the store and loading it up.

2:25 p.m.: Now he brings out the lark, a rocket launcher that lets him pause the rockets in mid-air, then control its speed with the analog stick or have it splinter into a barrage of tinier missiles.

Hint : not everyone uses wireless.

1080P TRUE HD, BLU RAY HI DEF MOVIES.

Composite cables in box.

WTF Sony. Seriously wtf.

This is more dumb than NIntendo not putting component with Wii boxes. At least Nintendo isn't pushing the whole HD mantra.

Are you kidding... they had that "tilt" functionality in controllers 6 years ago. Plus the controller doesn't even have rumble. 360 controllers are a rip-off too... but I thought Sony would 1up them by going $10 under.

The end result will be more than just a place to play games, but a rich online environment with strong community aspects as distinctive as the titles themselves.

The entry way into PLAYSTATION Network is XMB(TM) (Xross Media Bar), which is the navigation system that enables a complete suite of entertainment experiences in three key areas: gaming; network and web connectivity; and other entertainment contents such as movies and music. The intuitive XMB interface, which is already featured on more than 20 million PSP(R) (PlayStation(R) Portable) shipped worldwide, allows PS3 users to experience multiplayer games across the network; communicate with other players via chat, voice or video; browse the web; download gaming content; store/view pictures and video; download and listen to music; and shop online.

Through the online PLAYSTATION(R) Store, consumers can find such items as game demos, game-related content and downloadable casual games, including titles developed by Sony Computer Entertainment World Wide Studios exclusively for download and play only on PS3, such as Blast Factor. Once users create a unique, secure PlayStation profile, they cannot only communicate with other PS3 users, they can also utilize an electronic wallet to purchase content in the PLAYSTATION Store. Downloadable first party games will cost less than $15 at launch. More content will be added on a regular basis.

SCEA offers a 20GB HDD PS3 system for $499 and a 60GB HDD unit for $599, which includes built-in Wi-Fi connectivity (60GB HDD model only). To further highlight the power of PS3's BD player, the Company also announced today that packed in with the first half million PS3 systems shipped in North America will be one of this summer's biggest blockbuster hits from Sony Pictures Entertainment, "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby," starring Will Farrell. "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" will be sold separately in stores nationwide beginning December 12, 2006.

FYI - Sony actively spent extra dev time trying to make it light as possible.

This was done for games that will take advantage of the gyros in such a way that you won't necessarily be resting the controller (or your elbows) on your lap.
