Giants/Pats and Steelers/Cards were only one and two years ago. Giants/Pats was a classic, Steelers/Cards was better than expected, kinda like this only the unexpected underdog didn't win. I remember Giants/Bills where the field goal went wide, Titans/Rams, Rams/Pats, Pats/Cats would have been a classic IF Carolina had won, as it was, it was damn entertaining.

Titans/Rams and Pats/Rams were the best by far. Awesome endings.

Niners vs whoever are always the best superbowls. Don't even need to watch to know who will win.

I remember the 89 game with the Bengals and the Icky Shuffle. I can't remember who they beat in ...95?

Pats/Panthers is probably the hardest hitting SB football I've watched, they pounded the shit out of each other in the first half. Anyone who likes hard hitting D, loved the first half of that game. Second half was a shootout, game had it all.

Giants/Pats was also hard hitting, but it was basically one team unleashing the punishment.

Overall, pretty bad SB

Thankfully I was indifferent towards the otucome, but if naything would have preferred the colts just to spite all the media attention the saints got with all the ridiculous hyperbole

People don't care about shit like that. They care about the plays and moments.

The Namath finger wag, the Elway Helicopter, Dyson at the one, helmet catch, the Immaculate Interception. This Superbowl had none of these things.

It wasn't bad, or close to the worst in the last 10 years, but aside from true NO fans this will die quickly.
No, it had none of those things, but neither do 38 other Superbowls. They can't all be the greatest game of all time. This was a good game between two solid teams. In 10 years time, no one will be talking about Pit/Ari either, except true fans (and haters :D) of both teams.

Meh. I enjoyed the game, if you or anyone else didn't I don't want to try and convince you were wrong, so I'll leave it there.

I never said anything about greatest of all time, I said memorable. This Super Bowl won't be memorable because it didn't have any of these things. The shit performance the WHO had will be more memorable than the game.

Even when Pitt/Ari is a memory, we'll still see the II and Holmes' catch.

Well, we can agree on that. :lol

????Nobody predicted them to win, in fact all the media attention seem to focus on Peyton's ascension to GREATEST QB EVAR!!!!! status

That's a load of shit, I watched several hours of the pregame show and it was all about the Saints and their hardships.

Plus, people picked the Saints to win so that's also completely false.

Yea that's the problem, the game played and felt like a early regular season game

Coverage focused a lot on Saints.

Lots of picks were going the Colts way, though.

except that last one. heyyyy yyooooooo

They kicked San Diego's ass in 95 (sorry Chargers fans, that was an ass-kicking).

Oh, and Icky never did the Icky Shuffle in Super Bowl XXIII, instead he got jacked up by this guy

I get that people hate Brady because his coach is a cheat, and Roethlisberger because he raped that girl...but why does GAF hate Manning?

congrats to Darren Sharper for getting a ring
congrats to Drew Brees for getting a ring
Reggie Bush...your still a douchebag and don't deserve it
Shockey your still a douchebag and don't deserve another

Yeah, maybe some of us down here in the South. But elsewhere, the media definitely were expecting the Saints to lose. Maybe we should go back to the beginning of this thread and see the predictions. Cuz I can guarantee you will see alot of "Saints lose" scores.

It's the only Superbowl we have ever won. For a city that's battered by crime and past Hurricanes, you would think people would be happy for New Orleans

Maybe, but most of the coverage I saw was very slanted toward Manning and an almost inevitability that the Colts would certainly win. The Colts are methodical, they didn't lose any game they actually tried, Saints D sucks etc, etc etc. Most of the Saints coverage focused on their franchise history of futility, which honestly has been a bit overstated since they've been decent to average the past 20 years. Only a couple of truly terrible seasons in that run, like the Katrina 05 season. The others fell on Ditka's watch. They were a decent team under Mora and Haslett.

Well that's the thing, this would've elevated him to that, or at least make the argument valid. Now there's really nothing to argue.

Because he turns off his game genie codes during the playoffs....

Not saying most didn't pick the Colts, just laughing at the notion that no one predicted the Saints to win.

Even Bill Cowher had them winning or one of the main guys on the coverage today.

too clean an image? It's like when you're a kid at school and you get the new desk without a single doodle on it...you can't help but want to mark that shit up

Most people don't hate him. Not like Brady or Favre anyway. But him being compared or even straight up called better then Montana is offensive.

People dislike Brady, because he's good and Ben because he's a phony carried by defense. The reason they dislike Manning is same as Brady... he's the best. It's been Brady/Manning since the start of the decade.

I'm just going to toss in the Pats went on a 17 game win streak after they were found to be "cheating" and broke just about every offensive record there is. just saying though.

:lol :lol You guys are acting like you where major underdogs:lol

NO was nowhere near as big underdogs as NY was a couple of years ago, or the pats were in 02, but they were still underdogs. Most expected Indy win somewhat modestly, 7-10 points. I'm not trying to play this "oh, the media hates us, never respects our team, coach, ect" act when its not true. I'm not a UNC fan. I know the Saints got plenty of love, but in terms of the significance of the game, the school of thought seemed to be, well the Saints finally got here, thanks for playing, Peyton Manning, god among men.

Montana had better teams, one guy can't do it all by himself.

Manning is as good, if not better than Montana, in passing accuracy.

And Montana is the best quarterback I ever saw play.

Congrats to the Saints. That was a pretty good game to watch aside from Indy's collapse in the 2nd half. It was kind of nice watching a Super Bowl and not really caring which team won.

Dirtbag must be living it up right now.

Steelers/Cards owned this game. That moment when the Cards completed the comeback from being down 20-7 was amazing. And then the brilliant drive by Ben culminating in the amazing Holmes catch. If the Cards had won that game and held on to the comeback, it would have been even better.

Did they award them two superbowls that year or something?
