Have to give it up to the Saints, they really put the clamps on the Indy O in the 2nd half and their offense in turn was pretty much unstoppable. Brees played godlike in that game.

Hopefully it's the Panthers turn next season! Can't believe there's no more football for another 6 months :(

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go have a heart attack now.

:lol :lol

So happy this morning, Payton said he slept with the trophy last night :lol

I actually made it to training camp this year for the first time since '05. Hartley is the future! Tracy Porter! Local boy! I think I jumped 12 feet in the air when he intercepted that pass. I'm just saying random shit at this point. Man......

I don't think Peyton choked, but it's clear that the family clutch gene went to Eli.

About the FG, I really don't get the decision either. Had it been in the Lucas Oil Dome, ok, I can deal with it, but with the way the footing was last night I would never have tried it with any kicker short of Janokowski. Props to Heartley for making the 47 yarder, but there is no way I would have attempted even that kick.
Yeah I was iffy on the 47 yard kick too, especially with all the postseason failures we have seen to this point.

And Peyton didn't choke? What would all the Manning jockers have said if Roethlisberger threw a pick six when he had 3 or 4 Cardinals all over him during that game winning drive? They sure as hell would not have blamed his receivers or his line, he would have gotten all the blame, just like he gets all the credit for being a hero.

This is a two way street. Manning gets 100% of the credit when the Colts win, so he should get an equal portion of the blame.

Mr. Snub's avatar is fucking awesome, dirtbag.

I still think the MVP of the game was the Saints kicker. He kept them in it in the first half when the Colts were looking pretty unbeatable. (Obviously I think Frankie Muniz deserves it, but they don't give MVP's to coaches).

Seriously though, was he trying to shit on Manning when he handed Brees the trophy and said "league MVP Drew Brees"

Yeah definitely some of my finer work.
Agree the kicker and our ROOKIE punter (onside kick) need some ridiculous credit... but Brees having the highest completion percentage in Superbowl history with over 30 passes and tying Tom Brady's 32 completions locked Brees's MVP. He earned it.

:lol :lol Dude just soak it in.

Outsiders just don't understand how much we live and die with our teams. So much time, energy, and effort put into being a fan and most years it goes wasted. I remember going to Giants training camp in 07 and flat out knowing all the names of all the players and coaches, even guys who were never going to make the team. I ended up getting a lot of autographs because I just knew their names. The SB 42 win was the absolute pinnacle of my years watching sports. I'm still fucking amazed by it.

I really don't know how people deal with not being part of a team following, tail gating, being at a live game, the parades, training camp, etc. Fuck that.

I'd rather go to 4 NFC Champio....fuck I can't even say it. It's still too raw. :(

I remember being slightly upset at both the hiring of Sean Payton and the signing of Drew Brees. I thought his shoulder was done. Didn't want Culpepper, either. That 2006 preseason, I swear to God I thought we looked like the worst team in the history of the league. :lol

We have come a long way.

Ah, I didn't even realize the punter handled the kickoffs, that takes a little luster off his performance.

I have to say, that was a complete team win. Brees or Sean Payton were the MVP's for me.
The onside kick and drive was the most amazing thing I've ever seen in Superbowl history. Though obviously it won't be as special for some of y'all.... but wow.

Brees outplayed Manning and the Saints outcoached the Colts, that's the bottom line.

congrats dirtbag, jonm etc

Was a pretty good game. But to me it felt like the Saints had more energy and the Colts weren't prepared for that and the colts just kind of expected to win. I mean when was the last time you saw Reggie Wayne get hit in the hands with a football in the endzone and he drops it?
The colts got severely out coached. Sean Payton was on fire last night.

I certainly hope someone is putting together some crow eating quotes from all the people talking shit about the saints and saints fans on this board. You damn well know if the saints lost you would be putting dirtbag and jonm quotes in a long list.

Now here comes the horrible, horrible off-season. Soooooooooooo Loooooooooooooooong! Draft keeps me from going insane for a few months, but afterwards..................my God.

And with the 32nd pick in the NFL draft, the New Orleans Saints select......

Okay Redskins fans, let's get that offseason thread started!

Tim Tebow! Because when it's 4th and Goal from the 2 in the Super Bowl, Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas are on the sidelines and we have to hand it to Mike Bell!

"I think they're going to be so far ahead that people are going to say, 'Oh, ho-hum, (Peyton Manning) played a good game, they won by two scores, the Colts won their second championship.' "

Earlier in the week he told Dan Patrick on his radio show that he "would be absolutely shocked" if the Colts lost to the Saints.

:lol

Dungy flip flopped during a couple playoff games too, he's full of shit. Once those guys get paid to talk, they lose all credibility. And the worst part is, he's not even good at it, with his slow, soft delivery and zombie eyes. Can him!!

I prefer commentators that are openly fanboys over guys like Buck/Aikman/Jim Johnson who try to appear objective but often don't.

Buck and Johnson I'll give you but Aikman GTFO he is one of the few that finds something to bitch about when it comes to Dallas

Oh LAWD Who DAT is a MEGA DRAW:

Super Bowl Draws Highest Overnight in 23 Years
After a season of record numbers for the NFL, the Super Bowl appears on pace to set yet another record.

The Saints' win over the Colts in Super Bowl XLIV drew a 46.4/68 overnight rating on CBS, up 10% from Steelers/Cardinals on NBC last year (42.1/65), which finished as the most-viewed Super Bowl in history when final numbers were released (98.7 mil).

Saints/Colts was also up 4% from Giants/Patriots on FOX in '08 (44.7/66), and up 11% from Colts/Bears on CBS in '07 (42.0/63).

The 46.4 overnight rating is the highest for the Super Bowl since Giants/Broncos in '87 (47.8/68).

Saints/Colts peaked with a 50.6/71 from 9:30-9:45 PM.

New Orleans was the top market with a 56.3/82 -- actually down from a 63.2 for the Vikings/Saints NFC title game on FOX. In Indianapolis, the game drew a 54.2/80, off 3% from the Colts' win in Super Bowl XLI (55.5/79).

Washington, DC, was the #2 market (56.0/73), with Nashville coming in at #3 (54.4/73). Both markets finished ahead of Indianapolis.

They did it, 100 MILLION!

Edit: They said its not possible, but if it holds it will equal the ratings of Super Bowl 16 (1982 season of The Catch) and shatter the viewers with 102 million. Now Who Dat, Drew That Script?

The game was clinched with 44 seconds left....
add that to the mystery list of destiny.

Destiny said:
1) Saints won the NFC Championship 4:44 in to OT.

2) this is SB 44,

3) Saints franchise is in its 44th year,

4) SB to take place 44 days after Christmas

5) President in office is our 44th

6) Game decided w/ 44 seconds left as the Saints stop Colts w/ no timeouts on 4th down

Ah, the sun is shining a little brighter this morning. Congratulations against Saints fans. Now I've got to get back to writing my 2009 NFL Season Retrospective "TAINT'd Glory: Peyton Manning's Almost Perfect Season"

yea thats good, but im talking about posters here who were talking shit, that is much better crow.

Now that the Saints have won, why do I feel so depressed? When we're driving around the city, screaming and yelling, everything is fine. Things are just awesome! But then I realize it's over. No more weekley threads, crazy OPs, Dirtbag shitting on people, Avatar bets, it's just done. I don't even know why I care about any of the extra shit outside of the Saints winning, but reading all of the weekly threads actually taught me some cool things about the teams.

I need to thank the Giants crew for answering the questions I had about certain rules and rivalries, and that dude that had the slim headed Alex Rogers avatar. I really think the weekly threads helped me to enjoy the Saints games more (fuck the haters).:D

Eh, yeah I'm retiring. I've served so much crow justice this season, it really doesn't matter anymore. We went through 3 HOF QB's to get here, whom I have nothing but respect for.
It's done.

I'm going eat lunch with my Dad.

I'm ready for my avatar.

What a game. Saints simply were better. Our corners started well but got a little soft.

Poor Addai. Played his heart out and was a beast.

Goddamn Hank Baskett, goddamn our pussy playcalling right before the half, and goddamn Manning for making a rookie mistake. Also, goddamn trusting an old kickers leg more than your offenses ability on fourth down.

And no, Manning didn't choke. The pick 6 was huge but he played well. The Saints just played better.

Congrats to the Saints!
