Way to invalidated your points, and what does your last statement even mean?

If you mean TV ratings, the previous high was set last year. I'm almost positive there was no strike this year, but I did drink heavily most of October.

I should have clarifed my last statment - during contract years for the CBA's (Collective Bargining Agreements) between the union and the owners.

And speaking of the Vikes - they will be back. So will the Cowboys. But Saints have simular magic that the 9rs and Giants had and now the buyrate to match. Who's to say that Tarvis Jackson hasnt improved under Brett Farve? Tony Romo took baby steps in gettin the boys there 6th title in a few years... dont just discount history and how simular this looks to the 80's and very early 90's.

Does anyone know why the Colts changed what they were doing on offense and defense after the first quarter? It seemed like they had a great plan and it was working, and then they totally went away from that plan. Playing man to man on the Saints receivers was shutting them down, and yet they started playing that soft cover 2, and Brees tore them apart. On O they kept dumping it down to the backs and TE on first down and they kept putting them selves in second and third and short, but in the second half they started going deep a lot more on first down. The Colts coaches choached scared and it really bit them in the ass. When was the last time that a Peyton offense had the ball with 2 minutes left in the half and they didnt try to score? They are usually super aggresive.

Christ, don't remind me. Colts make THE BEST adjustments, but they just seemed to go back to Dungy Defense after the half.

And I will never hear an excuse good enough to convince me that not running the 2 minute drill is a good thing.

The three straight runs with 2 minutes and 2 timeouts left was a total bitch move by the Colts.

If nothing else the reason the Saints should have won is they took all the chances.

I have a feeling Favre will be back or at least if Sidney Rice can help it.

I actually want him to come back, I don't want a division rival with Tavaris Jackson at quarterback, no excitement in that.

Now you know how we feel when you trot Cutler out there.

Yup. I was looking at QB stats last night after the game. Manning most resembles Favre, well a smarter Favre that doesn't throw that many INTs. Their playoff lives as of now are very similar. In the regular season I would say Manning statistically is the best QB. In the playoffs not so much but it isn't horrible, in reality his playoff stats are almost the same as Brady, the problem is stats aren't in context, how many times has Manning screwed up at the end to lose a game, who knows.

This is what most people don't realize about Brady vs. Manning. Manning's numbers are well beyond bradys, yet he's played in what 4 more seasons then Brady? Once again Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, and the Edge have been with him his entire career. Brady alwys made what he had work, patten, brown, givens, branch, caldwell.

I think the only hitch in that is that the Patriots played almost an entire season with somebody else who also performed very well. Not to mention the Patriots offense is not as much as a timing offense. They do much better with short passes and effective downfield blocking, which I think fits the skillset of more QBs than a timing based offense.

I don't think Peyton has been bad in playoffs (even the pick 6 last night is understandable to me). Saints were blitzing and the quick hitch route is a typical play the Colts run in that situation. Wayne played it poorly, yes, but Porter guessed Manning right. I do think Peyton rushed it a bit though. His lined had picked up the blitz and he could've stepped up a bit to buy his receivers more time.

That said, as much as I hate Brady, I can't argue against the fact that he's been more productive (both in terms of wins and statistics) for the most part in the postseason than Peyton.

Vikes and Packers both peaked this season as teams. All downhill from here for both organizations.

Martz is our Gregg Williams hire. 13-3 and super bowl win for the 2010/2011 season believe!

What? I can see the Vikings peaking but the Pack? No way. Rodgers is just getting started.

Dam, Mannning walked off the field before time ran out????

It's hard to call someone like him "classless" but I hope he gets fined, no excuse for that no matter your disappointment.

One of my favorite memories in all of sports etiquette was Sean Kemp going out of his way to congratulate the Bulls' players IN THEIR OWN MOBBED CELEBRATORY LOCKER ROOM after that one Finals.

cold blooded, lets kick off the OS already!!! What better way than a trade rumor, there has been talk of a trade between SD and Dallas in which Dallas would trade Tashard Choice for Antonio Cromartie. I'll be the first to say this rumor makes zero sense. I don't see why Dallas would need another CB right now with Newman, Jenkins, and Scandrick on the team.

Maybe Jerry Jones saw how he gave up in the Jets game and figured if he was on the roster, the rest of the Cowboys wouldn't look so bad by comparison.

Especially since Cromartie was pretty bad in '09. I read he's really expected to come back, as they have Jammer and Cason. Merriman is also upset about his situation.

He actually spoke on this immediately after, said he wanted Brees to enjoy the moment for himself without being bothered.

I don't think Dallas can afford to ship Choice off just yet Barber has shaken my confidence in him. I think Choice means more to the team the Cromartie ever could.

Superbowl broke records in Canada too. 6.7 million people watched which is big for us. Surprised by this number since the commercials alone were enough to put anyone to sleep.

All these ratings make me wonder why the fuck the owners got guns to the players heads with the CBA's? It took them nearly 30 years even with CBS losing rights in 1993 to get these numbers back to SB16 numbers and they gonna fuck it up because they got sticks up their asses! March 5, they better say we aint gonna fuck up this gravy train and get a contract signed, a cap and play ball. I know the taxes arnt what it used to be - but thats the State Governments fault for being jackwipes...

Just came back from the Letterman taping where Drew Brees was his guest.

Before Brees finally came (he was stuck in traffic at the Lincoln Tunnel) Dave was doing a football bit where he passes to Biff....Biff went for a pass, caught it, but unfortunately fell into the audience area. He had to be taken out on a stretcher in an ambulance. Show had to be paused for 30 minutes. It gave Brees enough time to show up. Pretty funny guy. Did not seem as big in person as I thought he would be. Dave talked a lot about his son and what a touching moment that was.

On a side note the girl sitting next to me smelled like ass.

"Hope that we would, Faith that we could..... Been there...... done dat... Finally"
It's too bad it seems like he's planning on retiring in two years (he's 63, and just renewed his contract with WWL for two more years). It's already weird enough not being able to listen to Buddy D, and soon Chris Rose will be on WDSU for a Monday editorial piece instead of writing for the Times Picayune.

All three of your CBs are playing really well. Newman seems to be declining a bit, but Scandrick and Jenkins played out of their minds this year.

Saints move up to #3 on Power Rankings

"With Drew Brees running the offense, this team has what it takes to be among of the best," ESPN.com reporter John Clayton wrote in his entry on the World Champion Saints. "I'm still not convinced their defense can take them all the way to the top, though. As I said in my rankings, I think the Colts are just a better club overall. And of course I like the depth of talent on the Cowboys."

The owners do have some legit concerns. Mainly a rookie salary cap needs to be put in place. The uncapped year is coming, but I'm not really concerned about a lockout. A deal will be made before the 2011 season is starting.

I think you are very wrong. I saw the head of the NFLPA on the NFL network the other day, and he said it was a 14 on a scale from 1-10 that the owners will lock them out in 2011. I think that they will definitely lock them out. Both sides seem very stuck.

Eh, yeah I'm retiring. I've served so much crow justice this season, it really doesn't matter anymore. We went through 3 HOF QB's to get here, whom I have nothing but respect for.
It's done.

Yeah, it's really hard to call Manning classless. For that, he'd have to pout constantly when he fucks up, blame his offensive line, and throw his kicker under the bus. Something like that. If he did even one of those things, then maybe it'd be fair to call him classless.

uh..... your trying to say something here? Vanderjagt went out and threw Peyton and Dungy under the bus by saying they were "soft" and never could win the big one. Peyton responding by not even wanting to talk about the "idiot drunk kicker". I'm sorry, but if somebody said that about me and my coach publicly.... I don't think I would of responded any nicer. You probably wouldn't of either.

And wow he said the Colts had some protection problems....ONCE? It's football dude. Stuff like that is said every press conference.. and coaches and players say shit about other players all the time when they are in the heat of the moment. It happens. Not like he singled anyone out, hell.... hem ight of even been talking about himself. After all, he is the one changing blocking schemes and plays at the line.

The dude studies football 24/7 and dedicates his life to it like none other. Do you really expect him to be happy when he doesn't win? Peyton Manning handles himself just as good if not better then every other athlete in football. I'm not saying he is an angel, but some of you put him under a fricken magnifying glass and act like he should be perfect every moment of his life.

He is human just like the rest of us.

The game was clinched with 44 seconds left....
add that to the mystery list of destiny.

Destiny said:
1) Saints won the NFC Championship 4:44 in to OT.

2) this is SB 44,

3) Saints franchise is in its 44th year,

4) SB to take place 44 days after Christmas

5) President in office is our 44th

6) Game decided w/ 44 seconds left as the Saints stop Colts w/ no timeouts on 4th down

Hey, I just realized that we went 13-3 in the regular season.
13 divides by 3 about 4.4 times
