No matter how fast I rotate the right stick, I can never seem to finish Chuck with a submission in the demo. I've even sat there and just destroyed his midsection with knees, punches, and kicks to make him have as little stamina as possible, yet he always seems to escape.. :(

Does rotating it a certain way, depending on the submission, have anything to do with your chance to succeed?

It all seems heavily based on stamina, a bit on the health too. The easiest way to get that tapout is to mount him and just to completely drain them of stamina till theres nothing showing up hold your position and then go for the sub. Its a really boring way to do it, mount, block transitions, get some hits in. Then tap.

Prior UFC / Pride games I always found the submissions way to simple though, so even though I (for the life of me) cannot tap anyone on the hardest level, and even only gt a few on easy, prefer this.

I absolutely adore getting in side control and hitting them with knees, you can rock a guy pretty easily from there with knees only, then go for a sub.
 
I think it would be cool for them in the sequel to setup the subs as another set of minor/major transitions. It would make it so when you set up the rubberguard you could say, hold RSB and major transition to go for the gogoplata or just minor transition and attempt the triangle. Maybe make the reversal much more severe if you get reversed in a submission. Like eating a big elbow that has a high chance of opening a cut. Or eating a face shot when going for the armbar that would deplete your stamina. I dunno just throwing stuff out there.

Major and minor submissions would be cool. Click for one sub attempt, left bumper modifier + click for a major attempt.

I know what he's saying, I'm just saying if he couldn't box with MMA guys who don't focus exclusively on boxing, how is he gonna have any chance against guys that do? :lol He should go to Japan and compete in their Super Hulk Freakshow Contest of Champions.

Ok for people in this thread I already have this preordered in here in canadaland but,...who can help me get the gamestop limited version with the 2 chars on the disc, I ask because

1. I want the 2 chars on the disc ( yes I know its free dlc later )
2. The forrest cover ( because I want to be hardcore like that :) )
3. No gamestop and canada gets perorder jacked for everything :(

I don't know about Mask and the rest of the crew being in the game. The devs were adamant at saying at denying unlockable characters. MMAJunkie was there yesterday too and heard the same stuff from the devs about the strategy guide information being denied and everything else. Who knows...

Don Gold is in the game but under a different alias.

But as Brad said, everything is embargoed. So not much I can't comment on either.

Brad did get punched his manlihood by Rampage while I was pimp smacked lol. It was a great time.

I actually physically hurt my hand yesterday playing with friends, there is a red line on my hand from playing with Rua :( its not a blister its just a red line from the swizel impression. ANd thing is I dont even rotate as fast as I can, juts focus on clean circles. It doesnt hurt lol its just still there...

I think the mask tribute is nice but I would rather do without any secret characters to be honest. I think it takes away from keeping it a serious franchise. I know Fight night had the ridiculous BK guy in there so it doesnt destroy a game for me but at the same time I just find it wierd to unlock punkass, joe or goldberg even though they do train in MMA.

There might be more people, such as Don Gold, that will end up as "no-name" fighters you start off against in career mode. I have the debug copy for 360 and PS3, so I'll be playing it over the weekend.
 
Never thought I'd have so much fun in a fighting game but this UFC game is so good. A friend and I both dl it and love playing it so much. Knockouts are fun but damn they feel like they happen to easily. I've been knocked out by him on the opening hit of round 1.

Question, when I'm mounted and I press R3 to go into submission, animation happens and all how come it never finishes and liddell fucken reverses me and mounts me?
Do I need to really tire him down for submission or something?

Any dedicated sites to this game in terms of tips and tricks? I'm on the fence of buying it, more than likely not day 1 since I'm currently unemployed. This, Uncharted 2, possibly infamous, and FNR4 I think its an awesome year already.
 
I played the demo and I'm pleasantly surprised. Was pretty good. Checking out the command list was a little whoa though. =x

Don't let it intimidate you kintaro, all of the combos under striking are stuff you would do naturally like jab,jab, overhand right (X,X ->Y). The important stuff in there is the transitions.

I was getting a red blister but I've given up on The Shine altogether now, if I can't sink it with button mashing I won't even bother.

Oh I dunno, the original UFC on DC had Bruce Buffer and John McArthy as unlockables, so long as it's guys in the scene like the Tapout crew and not random secret characters like Master Chief or Link then I reckon it's all good.

Oh no. I'm a fighting game vet. I was just surprised. I'm more curious to see how people take to it.

Playing the demo a bit more, there's some minor collision problems (I got KOed and the replay showed the fist no where near my face where the hit supposedly KOed me) and some minor animation transition problems, but no big deal at all. I think I'll give it a rent to play online.

The only one of those that jumps out to me as a classic is Bonnar vs. Griffin. I'm not really sure how Rampage beating the shit out of Liddell in the first round qualifies as a classic.

Liddell v Tito 2 and Serra v GSP were pretty epic too. The Forrest Shogun fight is the one that surprised me.

- Incredible fight, didn't have much importance but man it was nuts so yeah good choice.

* UFC 66: Chuck Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz II
- Meh. CvT1 was much better.

* UFC 71: Chuck Liddell vs. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson
- This was only a big deal to people who hadn't seen their first fight in Pride.

* UFC 76: Forrest Griffin vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua
- Come on, no way.

* UFC 77: Anderson Silva vs. Rich Franklin II
- The first match was much larger. Nobody expected Silva to walk through Franklin like that. This rematch was far less exciting as the outcome was pretty certain.

* UFC 79: Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva
- This fight had like a decade of build up and was awesome. Great choice.

* UFC 79: Georges St. Pierre vs. Matt Hughes III
- Sure I guess. GSP vs. Hughes 2 was bigger as it was for the belt.

* UFC 80: B.J. Penn vs. Joe Stevenson
- Lame.

* UFC 82: Anderson Silva vs. Dan Henderson
- Title unification bout and everyone gave Henderson a huge chance, so ok I can see this.

* UFC 83: Matt Serra vs. Georges St. Pierre
- Ugh. I hate this fight. Hate it. Then again I'm a huge GSP fan. :p

* UFC 84: B.J. Penn vs. Sean Sherk
- This had a fair amount of build up but the actual fight was ridiculous. Hey the top wrestler in the LW division didn't attempt a single takedown and got jabbed in the face for 15 minutes. Wheeeeee.

I have the full game and I am playing through the debug copy as we speak. They don't, so they must be taking it directly from the THQ FTP site.

Caspel is there a set time on monday for the embargo? I ask cause we still have to finalize some of the rules for the leagues and we know next to nothing about the online mode.

Can't believe how much I'm still playing this demo, a stack of fights every day and I'm still seeing the occasional new move, love Chucks piledriver! Taking a CAF from the gym to the belt is gonna be awesome fun.

The online is your standard/basic online mode. They didn't show it off at the event, the barely spoke on it in during interviews, but I have the debug/preview copy and I've looked around through it. With that said, I can speak on it since it wasn't at the event.

Ranked/Unranked Matches, Online Leaderboards and that's it. You can make custom matches with changing a few of the rules (ref, arena and rounds... let me confirm this in a little bit) and that's basically it.

I've been told that you can disconnect and there aren't any penalties. I don't have anyone to play with online, so I can't confirm if this is true, but coming from the developer's mouth, I'm going to believe it is.

EDIT:
For custom matches you can do the following:
- Change Match Rounds: 2 , 3 , 5 Rounds
- Weight Division: Standard
- Fighter Privileges: UFC & Caf, UFC Only, Any
- DLC Fighters: Any, On, off
- Opponent Rating: Any, Advanced
- Match Presentation: Any, Off, On
(for Unranked matches) Private Settings: On and Off

In the Match setting (where you select your fighter): They'll show a "Player Level" in the corner. Allow you to change arenas and refs.

Anyone know what the timing for transition reversals is? I haven't pulled one off and I feel like I've tried every possible timing...the tutorial is no help.

I mean a lobby like a quarter match in a fighting game. Say 4 of my friends want to play, can we all join one game, 2 people fight the others spectate or is it just 2 people per match?
