Official UFC Undisputed '09 Thread: They Call him Punches in Bunches

I mean a lobby like a quarter match in a fighting game. Say 4 of my friends want to play, can we all join one game, 2 people fight the others spectate or is it just 2 people per match?

Nope. It's strictly limited to 1 vs. 1. Here's a picture from the online matchmaking

I have more up at my twitter (sent from my photobucket). I'm just too lazy to post them.

For custom matches you can do the following:
- Change Match Rounds: 2 , 3 , 5 Rounds
- Weight Division: Standard
- Fighter Privileges: UFC & Caf, UFC Only, Any
- DLC Fighters: Any, On, off
- Opponent Rating: Any, Advanced
- Match Presentation: Any, Off, On
(for Unranked matches) Private Settings: On and Off
Hmmmm... Only one option for weight division? I'm a little confused on this.

The online is your standard/basic online mode. They didn't show it off at the event, the barely spoke on it in during interviews, but I have the debug/preview copy and I've looked around through it. With that said, I can speak on it since it wasn't at the event.

Ranked/Unranked Matches, Online Leaderboards and that's it. You can make custom matches with changing a few of the rules (ref, arena and rounds... let me confirm this in a little bit) and that's basically it.

I've been told that you can disconnect and there aren't any penalties. I don't have anyone to play with online, so I can't confirm if this is true, but coming from the developer's mouth, I'm going to believe it is.

EDIT:

In the Match setting (where you select your fighter): They'll show a "Player Level" in the corner. Allow you to change arenas and refs.

EDIT #2:
@ my Twitter I have posted 5 screens of the game. 4 of them deal with the Online Portion and 1 deals with the Unlockables. You can check it out @ http://twitter.com/adaylatefriend.

Thanks a ton caspel, I posted the info with screens on our forums as well. I gave you credit as well as a linkback to your twitter and site. If you want to watermark the pics let me know and ill fix the post.

One question about online. Did you see an option about disabiling stamina bars?

No penalty for online disconnect?

Can someone explain the logic behind this to me? Why do devs keep doing this?

No idea, its as simple as showing the persons disconnect ratio like sf4s patch did. That way you can avoid them completely.

Ahh sorry, the weight division portion I meant standard as in... HW, LHW, MW, WW, LW, or I believe Any was there too. Nothing out of the oridinary.

Basically, the devs stated "where's the line drawn?" They don't want to hurt players who legitimately get booted from their online. There were a bunch of reasons such as PSN users creating accounts and quitting out online to boost their friend's stats in unranked matches and what not. The remedy I told them was to show a percentile of how many times a player quits so players could back out before they fight.

Nope, I think this is going to come down to honesty and trust between players unless when a player turns on the stamina bar, it's in turn turned on for both players so the other player knows what is going on.

No worries about that - I'm not in the business of trying to get people to my twitter or anything as such. Just wanted to spread the info on the game :) Tonight I'll be turning in full stats for all the fighters and it'll go live tomorrow at one of the publications I write for.

Thanks for the info Caspel, also one big question everyone seems to be asking judging by my full pm box on other boards lol. Is Cpu vs CPU in the game? Thanks for taking the time out.

Depending on how the online community plays out, I might end up playing only with other GAFfers just to avoid the quitters.

Im' not saying I don't have confidence in the broader UFC game-buying audience, or anything...... but thats exactly what im' saying. I can only imagine the mouthbreathing assholes who will blare Nickelback through their mics the entire fight only to quit as soon as they get in trouble, followed by some mumbling about "cheap bullshit.." The last thing you will hear before they disconnect is them taking a swig of day-old, room temp Mountain Dew, as a child begins to cry in the background.

Can't wait!

I'll be writing about that for my article tomorrow morning since it's covered in the embargo.

Anyone else sad that the Pokemon thread is getting more traffic than this? I'm not surprised... just sad.

Yea, the Duke Nukem Forever thread that started today has more traffic than us hehe. I think that the traffic here will spike once the game comes out if it does well. A lot of people didn't even download the demo because they just wrote it off as UFC instead of as a fighting game.

Madison Square Garden? MMA isn't sanctioned there yet or am I wrong on that?

I hope there is actual gameplay reasons for choosing different refs, like Josh Rosenthal will stand you both up quicker than Herb Dean for example.

If you choose Herb Dean when you fight as Cro Cop he makes an O face when your ankle breaks.

Cool can't wait to read it. :D

If you have anything you'd like answered (questions from your users, etc.), feel free to send me a PM and I'll try to make sure I get them all answered in the preview tomorrow.

I'll say this about the game... it's going to be great for league play :). I advise anyone and everyone to join a league since it's going to be a much better experience in terms of competition and friendliness.

Can you create fight camps with your friends online? Do you get an online win/loss record per fighter or as a player? I ask incase you do end up playing online at some point.

No fight camps online. There are stats that will go into your personal record list. I won't be playing any online unless magically someone else has the game (I know BradVanDam might have the game) and plays it with me.

For the fighter selection screen, the stats they show are overall though -- not fighter specific. I'll double check though later tonight, but even if they are fighter specific, I won't be able to check since I won't be able to test out each fighter and see if my stats change when I enter into a new match so I am pretty sure they aren't fighter specific.

They're probably just re-using the Smackdown v Raw or Legends of Wrestlemania stadiums. I don't really have an issue with that, they'll run MSG as soon as it's regulated there.

I'll take a screen capture tonight and post it. You can do the comparisons if you have a good recollection of MSG in the WWE titles.

Apparently my GameStop is releasing it at midnight on the 19th. Yes! I can't remember being this excited for a "Sports" game in a long time, NCAA Football 2007..maybe? we got our Fight Night Round 4 demos in as well....

i got put in a headlock, punched in the side of a head and in the ribs :lol

brad... psst. there are only 12 classic fights unless you were able to unlock more. MGM Grand isn't in the game either.

Any effective way to lean back or step to the side and out of the way? I end up blocking everything, which is kinda sad.

Over all, I'm satisfied with the demo. Shogun feels sluggish, but what can you do? I gotta pick him or the fight ends up going to the ground... which is not good. :lol There are still a few holes though, even on expert mode I can basically get away with only blocking high. And Chuck has almost no defense for body kicks at all. If I start working on them early, by the third round I can basically finish the fight with them.

The list of the entire roster with the stats and fighting style for all the fighters that I put together is now up.

Enjoy :)

Only two Judo fighters :(

Thats really, really surprising. To have a style which only 2 of your 85 characters will use. I plan on using boxing judo as well for CAF so im not complaining. Just found it surprising. Caspel have you messed with judo yet? do they have any special ground transitions/slams?

I'm using Judo and Muay Thai for my CAF in career mode and I'm loving it. Judo has some dynamic throws and escapes from the ground that I'm appreciating so far. If I remember correctly, they can directly escape the North-South position to standing.
