Finally backed it at 45 for the digital edition. Would have gone for the bluray, but I expect the digital will be HD anyway.

Now this is a central-Texas GAF meetup I could get behind.

As we move into the final week of the Kickstarter campaign, I wanted to invite any backers in the Austin, TX area to come celebrate with me next Friday, April 12th, from 8-11 pm, at the Dog and Duck Pub.

The Dog and Duck Pub is located at 406 W 17th Street, Austin, TX 78701. (It's at the corner of 17th and Guadalupe.)

Together, we can count down the final couple of hours of the Kickstarter campaign. Plus, the documentary film crew that has been following me around during the course of the campaign will be there as well, and they'd love to put you on camera. We'll be doing interviews with Veronica Mars fans.

Please RSVP through my email address on this site. We'd love to get a rough headcount. The Dog and Duck will reserve the back patio for us if we know we're going to have enough people to w arrant it. It's a bar, so, naturally, it's 21 and over.

I'd love to see you there for the celebration. Whatever happens during this final week, we're already so thrilled and grateful with how it's gone.

Kickstarter -> Me -> Edit settings -> Notifications -> Manage <x> project notifications -> Uncheck Veronica Mars -> Save Settings

The thing is, I'd hate to unsubscribe completely because I'm genuinely interested in the progress of the film.

But on a few occasions, they've sent out multiple updates in a single day. That's just a bit too much. I get they're excited and it's awesome, but some things are best left for Twitter.

Still doesn't sound like a lot for a feature film.

No special effects, minimal staff, staff taking paycut for fanservice - don't have to pay for marketing/distribution. Probably only take a few episodes worth of shooting time for a 100-120 minute movie.

WB is still going to provide funding - more than what's being raised through Kickstarter, I would guess.

The Kickstarter project wasn't just about raising funds; it was about proving to the studio there was an audience for it.

I thought they were only doing advertising, distribution, etc. (I say "only" knowing that that's still a lot of money.) They are putting money toward the actual production as well?

Maybe I'm wrong. I dunno.

But if it goes over-budget or anything, WB will obviously be on the hook for it.

Not necessarily wrong, but there's no confirmed details regarding Warner Bros.' participation. The unprecedented nature of it all makes it difficult to determine. The deal seems to have been "Put it out there: if you make $2 million we'll let you make the movie." If it goes over that, or if either Thomas or Bell wants to contribute any of their own money, that's all gravy: they just needed the fan support/buzz of the Kickstarter in order to get Warner Bros. to take the risk of distributing/promoting/etc. Whether fan support has been enough for them to also contribute to directly contribute to its production remains an internal decision untethered from Kickstarter contributions.

Yeah I always assumed the original deal was something like you get $2m from Kickstarter to prove its viable and WB will take care of the rest.

Kickstarter hit 5 million on the morning, now everybody with a $10 or more'll receive stickers.

So now, there is only 24 hours left to back this Veronica Mars Movie Project.

Will this project become the most backed Kickstarter?

$5.3M with 14 hours to go. Wonder if the final day surge can push them to $6M. Either way its a resounding success.

Well, I've gone in with an ambitious money where your mouth is donation. I've never actually seen the series, but I had a friend at university who went nuts about it, so I've gone in at the tier that gives me the DVD set too.

Yes, I am an idiot. But I really do respect said friends' recommendations.

I upped my pledge a while ago when one of the "Kristen Bell will record a voicemail greeting for you" slots opened up.

I'm so weak for KB.

Pledged $35. I was close to not pledging since it was already over so much, but still wanted to be part of it. Download of the movie will be nice, too. Don't like the T-shirt designs too much, but oh well.

Just got around to watching Kristen's update. Man, when is she gonna pop?? Looks like she may be on bed rest.

Edit: Oops, she already had the baby :lol A girl named Lincoln (wtf)
