OFFICIAL Veronica Mars (the movie) kickstarter

Piz sucks. Should have been ANYONE other than him - Dick, Madison, Mac, Cliff, literally an other character that was ever on the show, take your pick.

I didn't think he sucked, but it does seem odd that he'd be included in a movie that seems centered on a high school reunion. I was already concerned they'd stretch it too much bringing in as many returning characters from the high school years.

Aw, come on guys. I liked Piz!

Piz always suffered unfairly for not being OMGSQUEELOGAN <3 LOVE4EVA, and like all obstacles to popular fandom pairings he became weirdly hated as a result. Since I never invested much in Logan and Vernica as a couple, I had no problem with him, and the vehement hatred over the years has just out me more and more on team Piz.

So basically I hope Piz and Veronica get married at the end of the movie just to watch the aneurysms.

(Of course I also think the secret blessing of VM's early cancellation is that The Logan relationship didn't get to drag on and damage the show to the extent that Spike ruined Buffy, so I'm kind of just the anti-fandom in general.)

I completely forgot that Piz and Wallace were roommates, so maybe Wallace and Veronica drifted apart so he got the bromance going.

Still. Piz. Ugh.

Having recently watching the 3rd season, what bothers me about him had less to do about him as about V's (non) attraction to him. She throws herself on him a second after she was trying to let him down easy. It felt forced and they never really meshed.

Piz and Logan BOTH suck, and it has nothing to do with "shipping".

Three more announced: Cliff, Madison, and Luke

And a spoiler mentioned:
Veronica got a law degree

Whoa whoa whoa. As bad as sad-sack Spike was towards the end of Buffy, without it we might not have had his amazing role in S5 of Angel.

Mac!!

I never knew this, it's pretty cool:
Back in 1996, I received an email from a 11-year-old asking me questions about my first novel, RATS SAW GOD, that had come out that year. The girl was doing a book report, and she'd gone the extra mile by tracking me down. One of her questions was, "What do you want to do next?" I replied that I was hoping to transition into the TV and film business. She responded that she'd done some film work herself.

A girl with big dreams of being an actress! How sweet! I thought to myself. I should say something encouraging!

I figured she'd been an extra in a friend's short film, or something along those lines, I wrote back asking her, politely I hoped, what movies she'd been in.

"Waterworld," she wrote. "Corrina Corrina. When a Man Loves a Woman."

Aww yeah :D

This was way more important to me than Piz, Logan or even Wallace. By the end of season 3 and even in season 2, Weevil has Veronica's back better than anyone else.

Yep, he was always my favorite character outside of Veronica and always wished he got more screen time but I think that part of his magic and their relationship. He was that friend that wasn't always there, but WOULD always be there when you needed him. It was some real recognize real shit haha.

Project Update #40

Today, I’m equally delighted to confirm the rumors from last week: Martin Starr has joined the cast of Veronica Mars in the new role of Lou “Cobb” Cobbler, another 09’er returning for the ten-year reunion.

I’m also pleased to confirm that Ken Marino will be returning as Veronica and Keith’s would-be competition, Vinnie Van Lowe.

And before you ask, yes, I still have more casting announcements to share.

Unfortunately, they’ll have to wait. Tonight, 30 of our backers have joined us on set as featured extras, and we’re working hard to deliver on one of the promises I made in the original Kickstarter pitch. I won’t spoil anything for you, but I will tell you this: there’s going to be one hell of a fight at the Neptune Reunion.

Aww yisss @ the Buffy reference!
I'm so ready for this movie!

New footage: http://vimeo.com/77887266

What I didn’t mention, for fear that it would jinx our plans, is that we also decided to debut a little bit of new footage. And since it’s your movie, I wanted to make sure you don’t have to wait to see it.

We’ve edited the new footage together into a short featurette suitable for sharing with friends, loved ones, or enemies who happen to share your taste in pop culture, and included enough context that it’ll make sense even if your friends never saw the show.

Just a warning: we were careful to avoid significant spoilers, but this footage does reveal a few new details about what to expect in the film. It also gives our cast a chance to weigh on the eternal Logan vs. Piz debate. Take a look.

How is it possible that everyone creatively involved with the show actually thought Piz came off as a sympathetic good-guy to Logan's bad boy? Duncan came off as an acceptable good guy. Piz came off as a poseur doormat. And it was never clear what Veronica saw in him besides the fact that he saw something in her. I don't care if she ends up with Logan or whatever (I find the obsession with the show's relationships rather than its class or gender politics or, you know, the actual stories to be really shallow and the worst type of fandom bullshit) but Piz was not a well-written or interesting character.
