The Jets would be horrible. Everyone wants to see the Texans get in.

Long off-season for the Steelers. They have no one to blame but themselves. The real difference was that Ben concussion that cost us two games but it never should have come to that. We still have a lot of talent though and with a few good pieces and some luck at staying healthy and they will contend again.

Since they are no longer defending champs and are no longer contending these are the teams that I would find acceptable champs (though ultimately inferior to the Steelers):

Cardinals (can't hate Kurt Waner), Saints (city deserves it), Texans (would be cool to see even though it is probably scientifically impossible), Eagles (just to see how Eagle fans react to a Superbowl winning McNabb).

I think the Cardinals are the only team I could stomach winning the SB

So how many key players got hurt today? Welker, Woodson, Boldin...any info on their injuries?

More tests tomorrow to verify but report now is that the ACL and MCL torn.

What a weird way for the Patriots to play Brady. I'll take it, but Belichick seems a little off his game. It looked indecisive.

After getting called out by his coaches and press and fans, Mario came to play and made a big play at a big moment. That's what he has the ability to do. That's why it's so frustrating that he seems to not care very much.

Go Bengals.

As long as the Pats and Cowboys don't win...oh yeah, and Favre can't win either.

Steelers fans straight talk... what do you attribute the late game failings to?

I'm going to cop out and say no Polamalu. There's obviously more problems then that but a shitload of the big plays against us in crunch time have come on fairly deep pass plays down the middle.

I'd list Polamalu's injury as a leading contributing factor. He missed 11 games this season.

edit: beaten

Steelers didn't have secondary issues. If you want secondary issues look to our fucking team. I would gladly trade your backup corners for our starters straightup.

The only team I would actually want to see win after the Steelers is the Eagles. Mcnabb deserves a ring, and to shut the loudmouth crybaby Eagles fans up.

As a Pittsburgh native, I hate everything and anything Philadelphia. Fuck the Phillies, fuck the 76ers and fuck the Eagles.

I used to not think much when people tore knee ligaments... then I tore my LCL and Meniscus. I knew as soon as I saw Welker in tears he'd done something season-ending. Brings back a lot of bad memories. Hopefully he recovers quickly.

There is a reason why everyone and their dog was saying Denver was the worst 6-0 team that anyone has ever seen.

I started that meme way back when they were 3-0 :lol

So to cap off the season

I must come clean

The Denver Broncos are the worst 8-8 team that I've ever seen.

Wow did not realize the new stadium Giants/Jets was built so close to the old one....

Gay turned out to be worse than McFadden, they kept the wrong guy. Age and injuries are the other problem. Aaron Smith and Troy going down hurt big, everyone tends to overlook Smith's injury, his was just as important as Troy's. Most of the Dline guys are ancient. And age caught up with Farrior. Timmons is still very raw, for every nice play, he gives up two or three crap ones.

Offensive line is still a problem along with situational play calling. Oh, and special teams were terrible.

Have you seen William Gay play?

You forgot about Bruce Arians

Plus McNabb holding up a Superbowl trophy would probably send Rush Limbaugh into a coma.

In the early 70's I lived in Pittsburgh over on Village Road, 15205 zip code... gparents lived not too far from downtown... was a great town back then....

OMG :lol :lol :lol

Wow for all the shit some Steeler fans talk, their team will be joining the Giants in watching the playoffs. :lol

At least we went down swinging, as opposed to the Giants method of voluntarily being sodomized.

Sorry I disagree with the Fox guys, thinking Philly was ok to mail it in, go vanilla and see them next week.

They had a week bye just sitting there and to think "yea i'll just mail this in in the second half and fly back". Down at 17 isn't a blow out. One TD strike and there was a ball game there.

Guess Kubiak is coming back is coming back. Hard to argue with it now, but his faith in Kris Brown was a major mistake.

"Whoever knew that beating up Riahana would doom ALL Chris Browns?"

Chargers did good work today. Show the Colts, Saints, and Patriots how to rest your starters and not look like idiots.

I'm still seriously pissed at Bill for that. What was his logic behind it? The guys been nursing the knee all year long, they haven't had a bye for weeks, and he knew some hard fought playoff games were coming out. Yet all game he kept putting the starters in, taken them out. Foolish decision... I hope Welker can somehow get back to his old form in the next year or two.

I'm thinking the Bengals lay down for the Jets.

I wouldn't be shocked, but damn the Jets would get in cause of two teams laying down for them.

So sad.

William Gay is better than fucking Wilhite. Did you not see the Saints game? Brees was throwing 8 yard hitches for 90 yard touchdowns.

Last time I heard, QBs completed 65% of their passes to receivers defended by William Gay. And that was weeks ago, he has been significantly worse since. I can literally only think of 2-3 occasions where he personally disrupted a pass play.

wadsworth said:
So did Welker get hurt after he was pulled and later put back in?

No he was hurt on his first reception of the game, however he should've been rested either way, he's been battling a knee injury all year.

edit- serious question... will Welker ever fully recover? Basically I'm asking how many recievers have returned from such an injury. I know QBs can, because they don't rely on their speed or legs as much as a receiver. If I remember Marvin Harrison and Jerry Rice both never came back the same from serious Knee injuries, albeit much older when they happened.

Meh.. freak accident with Welker. I don't know why the hell Brady played so much though. That I have a problem with. The 2nd half should have been all Hoyer and backups.
