This needs to be released on Bluray...

Sorry to bump this but I am now certain that I have an extra invite for NYC for this coming Saturday, 5-7.

Whomever PM's me first gets it.

Glix,

By any chance do you own a Triwing Y screwdriver?

OK, I just got back from the Wii U Experience and I'm very happy! There were a lot of games there and I only got to try out about half of them. The ones I played were:

New Super Mario Bros U:
This was the first game I played. I tried it out using the normal Wii controller. It plays pretty much like any other New Super Mario Bros game. The graphics are nice, but don't exactly blow you away. I hope once you get to some later stages things like lava and ghosts add some coolness to the backgrounds and levels.

Rayman Legends:
This is definitely my game of the day. I played the demo level that is seen in all the E3 footage. With this game I was able to try out the Classic Controller Pro and it feels pretty natural. It only took me a few seconds to realize the buttons were on the bottom of the right-hand side instead of on top. I had a lot of fun with this game, especially in the music section. I beat it in one shot, but the other people who played after me were struggling. I guess that's because I recently beat Rayman Origins and knew what to expect in the running sections. Playing on the Wii U GamePad with this game is fun, but I can see it getting boring fast. Basically you just help the other player get a higher score by turning all the points in to double points.

NintendoLand:
I played the Animal Crossing game and the Donkey Kong game of NintendoLand. I know the Zelda and Luigi games were also available, but I didn't get to try them out. I can see this as being fun, especially as a party game. Again, it seems like playing on the Wii U GamePad for the Animal Crossing game could get boring after a while. I think it would be fun if you kept switching off to other players. For the Donkey Kong game you tilt the GamePad to move a cart along a track. I really enjoyed this game and actually set the high score for the day (1460?). It is very tough and has a bit of trial and error, but I enjoyed the premise of it and the art style was fun. It reminded me of the chalk boards from Yoshi's Island.

Game and Wario:
This seems like a fun mini-game compilation. They really didn't have much to show of this. I watched someone else play the archery game where you use the GamePad to shoot arrows at mini-Wario dudes. That seemed like a good use of the touch screen along with the main screen. The game I played was the Skiing game where you tilt the GamePad side to side to slalom around obstacles. It seemed kinda limited right now. They said the final game would have about 12 games to play, so I hope the others are more fun. It is nice to see WarioWare style graphics in HD, though.

ZombiU:
I only got to play a couple minutes of this game before I ran out of time, but it seems like it is going to be a LOT of fun. The GamePad and TV function well together and having to look at the GamePad periodically adds to the tension of running from zombies. There is a ton of gore in the game and you can shoot zombies and beat them with sticks. This definitely isn't a kids game.

Wii Fit U:
It is Wii Fit...on the Wii U. But seriously, I got to play the trampoline game where you are trying to jump higher and higher on the trampoline by flexing your legs at the right time. The GamePad is placed on the floor so you can help yourself see downwards to aim your balancing. It is an interesting concept. I hope the other Wii Fit U games and some stuff using the GamePad as well.

Games I didn't get to play, but were there: Pikmin 3, Ninja Gaiden, Project P-1000, Batman: Arkham City, and Sing.

Ask me any questions you have. I'm sure I'm forgetting to mention some things. Overall I'm really excited about the Wii U. Going into the event I wanted to buy it, but I wasn't foaming at the mouth for it. Now I can't wait until I get to play it again! It is going to be a long wait until "Holiday".

Are you going back tomorrow? It's not one day is it? If so, can you get some more impressions of other games in Nintendo Land.

Well, I can offer some other opinions. I was at the 3-5 PM slot.

What I played:

Project P-100
I NEED THIS GAME. NOW. This was easily the best game on the floor, no questions! When described in a nutshell as "Viewtiful Joe + Pikmin", I feel it's accurate. (With an awesomeness multiplier) The gestures prime your hero's unite attack, and then you can go to town combo-ing with it. (I tended to prefer the sword, but my friend loved the fist. The gun was pretty cool too, but a little unwieldy.) Left trigger lets you jello-mold defend, and with good timing I could get the enemy robot to stagger himself by bouncing off of it, and then combo like crazy. Right trigger lets you dodge, by having everyone in your group jump to the side in a large arc. There's also a normal "swarm" attack with X, which was a good way to build up some damage before usng hero moves. There's a battery and life system that I didn't quite figure out, but you needed battery power to use your hero moves. Otherwise it's standard run with the stick and jump with a button. (You can double jump and explore around to find more batteries and things.) You can also lift cars and things and chuck them at enemies, as well use the Hero Fist to lift BIG things, as well as turn large wheels. There was a portion in the demo when you went inside of a garage, and then you had to view the Game Pad screen to check out what was inside. Seems simple enough, a little gimmick but still cool. I also loved conscripting civilians and random other former heroes by drawing a circle around them with the Pad. (I can't draw circles apparently, so it took a few tries.) You get graded after each act, (Time, Damage taken, Combo) and I managed to get a few golds. Definitely an amazing experience, and one that bizarre-and-awesome-GAF would love.

ZombiU
Okay, I suck at FPS games. Kind of a fact. Additionally, the guy running the screen didn't really tell me what all the buttons did. Still, this is pretty intense. Ran around beating up some zombies with a cricket bat before realizing that by dawdling, I had drawn a swarm of six around me. When you get grabbed, you do have what amounts to an "extra life" by ramming an emergency syringe into the zombie's neck. Kills that one, but doesn't do anything about the others. Using the right trigger, you can shove, and by holding the left trigger to "Ready the weapon", you can use the right trigger to attack. Using the crossbow via the Pad was pretty cool, I do love the Silent-Scope-esque detail I got. Also cool was the "Scan" system, where if you hold the left shoulder, you can use the Pad as a sort of AR scanner ala Metroid Prime. It shows a grey, sort of static-y screen, and any bright spots you can hold an "analyze" button on the touch screen to let you know if any containers or zombies are carrying anything useful. There is a bit of a radar on the pad as well, and the "rummaging" pan out is very effective. The other detail I think is pretty cool is that I believe there's only one of each weapon in the game world. So if you've found the shotgun, (and it is GOOD) but your survivor carrying the shotgun gets bitten, you're going to WANT to hunt down your former-survivor-now-shotgun-hoarding-zombie, because damned if you're going to go around shooting things with the pea-shooter your pistol is.

New Super Mario Bros U
A nice, solid platformer. Played the first level in a competition, (speed run) and won a hat. The "create-a-platform" feature is pretty nice, as well as the ability to knock back or otherwise stun enemies. (Though my Pad-using teammate managed to push a goomba back so that my jump landed right in front of it and I bodyslammed it, shrinking. >_> Sheesh.) The Squirrel Suit is pretty fun to use, and I like the fact that we've got a nice glider. (Didn't get to mess with it very much.) If one likes 2D Mario, it looks like it'll be satisfying. I do hope for trickier levels earlier on, but we'll see how it goes.

Rayman Legends
On the other hand, this was definitely higher in difficulty. Murray (or whatever the Pad Fairy is named) is a great device. He cuts ropes, nails enemies, gets more...point thingies, and really forces a teamwork aspect with the platforming player. Apparently in single-player, you control both Murray and Rayman. Got to use the Wii U Controller Pro. VERY comfortable, and the stick/buttons difference didn't cause me any trouble in the slightest. The gameplay of kicking and punching is still there, and the rhythm-y rock out running level was AWESOME. This is another one to definitely look out for.

(I...didn't really get to play Pikmin 3. Disappointing!)

Nintendoland
Only got to play the Luigi's Mansion pseudo-Pac-man-Vs. game, but that was fun. I have to admit, Nintendoland looks far less fun than it actually is. Get a few friends together, and this is a ton of fun. Chasing down the ghost requires a lot of verbal communication of "Ghost is in my Zone, I'm Luigi!" and without teamwork, you just get owned by the ghost player. I think Nintendoland really comes down to a "gotta try it and see if it's to your taste", because it's a lot of fun, but it's not a "deep" experience if that's what you're looking for. Fun, simple party games suggests to me that as a pack-in, it'll do fine. (The instructions are pretty simple. Normal wiimotes can use one button to "sidestep" and another to "shine light", and the idea is to shine the ghost to death. As you shine, the beams get shorter. Get batteries to recharge your flashlight, revive scared allies with light, and don't split up too much or the ghost can sneak behind you and pick you off with its dash move. The wiimote vibrates when the ghost is near, hence the need to communicate. Still good fun.)

Game And Wario
This feels kind of tech-demo-y as well, but the games are still fun to play. I'm a little disappointed it'll only be 10 games. I played the Jimmy T. skiing game. Simple enough to play, and I got to enjoy Jimmy T being the fabulous dude he is. Don't mess with the blue 'fro! Gameplay consisted of turning the Game Pad on its side and using the gyro to maneuver him, and shaking the Pad to do tricks during jumps. Nothing complicated, but quick fun is still good.

ZombiU Multiplayer
Let's just go with Left 4 Dead, but you get to be the director. Capture the flag, careful placement of running zombies and others can make it VERY difficult for the survivors indeed. This is quite the blast to play, and I can see a lot of time being put into it.

I did not check out Sing, Just Dance 4, Wii Fit U, Ninja Gaiden 3, or Batman: Arkham City. They did NOT have Tank Tank Tank or Scribblenauts on the floor during my timeslot. (Which sucks, because those are both pretty fun according to the staff.)

Wii Fit U looks like it's pretty good at tricking you into exercising. Gamification at its finest, I suppose. Not really my thing, but I think it'll do okay.

I've come away from the Experience thinking "Well, I need to get a Wii U so I can get P-100. And play P-100. I wish I could play more P-100. Man, I sure am thinking a lot about P-100."

So yeah, similarly, ask any questions if you want, and I really would love another chance to get my hands on it. According to my girlfriend, Pikmin 3 added a dodge-roll, which allows for faster action and makes the game SO MUCH BETTER! Rock Pikmin are nifty, and the game is an excellent addition to the Pikmin family.

Edit: also, the Wii U Game Pad is REALLY light and comfortable. I'm surprised as it looks far clunkier than it is.

Additionally: They had a photo section where you could pose with plush rupees or a yoshi or 1-up mushroom. Didn't take advantage of it, but that was kind of cool.

They also had some free snack-y stuff. Bottles of Wii-U Experience water, Blue Lemonade (berry flavored), Blue cotton candy, fruit kebabs, blue-frosted glazed doughnuts, and mario-themed cake pops. I think my tongue is still blue.

Also a shout out to blurrygil for working the event. Good seeing you again!

Wish I could but got exams and I live across the northern border. Hopefully, I'll be seeing some off-screen captures you guys n gals.

Oh, and Steve Jobs will be there too.

Pikmin 3 has DODGE ROLLING. You and all your Pikmin can just SWOOSH out of the way now. So awesome. Couldn't figure out how to get them to pick things up automatically though, since the control pad is now taken up by the rolling.

I didn't realize there were plush rupees in the photo area. ;__; should've taken advantage of them.

The controller is impressive, it's more comfortable than I was expecting. I really think game devs are going to have to work hard to make it intuitive, though, as it's not always obvious which screen you should be looking at or how you should be holding it. I can see that becoming a problem.

Does the Wii U Game Pad have analog triggers?

You also missed Just Dance 4 was one of the games on display.

They had captions for Panomora View, but didn't actually see the game.
That's right. I forgot about Just Dance because they kinda hid it at the exit. I didn't spend much time in that area because I'm pretty sure the groups before mine ate all the food and all they had was water, soda, and cotton candy. I would have liked one of those cake pops :(

Oops, I just assumed they put out a certain amount for each group
And the Cake Pops only showed up at the end as exit gifts/snacks or whatever.

Anyhow posted in Wii Speculation thread last night, but my rough impressions

Anyhow, back.. well after hanging out with friends all night.

Sadly didn't get my hands on ZombiU or Project P-100, since the lines were so long for that, but did get a chance to check out Just Dance 4 (First game played), NintendoLand, Super Mario Bros U and Rayman.

Just Dance 4 was fun, I mean it was more Just Dance. They were showing off the puppet mode, in which the player with the Wii Pad is able to pick the dance moves that the other players have to do. Its a fun little mode, but really nothing ground-breaking.

Super Mario U was.. new Super Mario Bros U... I mean I love the games. They are a ton of fun, and really nothing has changed here. It is odd how some of the quirks in multi annoy me more with strangers, like the slight pause when someone dies. Someone also asked.. I think but the Squirrel suit is also motion controlled.

Rayman Legends was a ton of fun.. tried both as the person on the Wii Pad and the Classic Controller. The Classic Controller feels fine, but didn't use dual analog so not sure how that woudl change opinions.
The tablet stuff was fun, but sparse for the most part until the second half of the demo, where could use it for a bit more. It is novel to have 2 players playing the same game but with different abilities/objectives.

NintendoLand was the real star of the show for me. Got to try out Takamaru's Ninja Castle, Luigi's Ghost Mansion, Animal Crossing: Sweet Day and Donkey Kong's Crash Course.

Takamaru's was okay, but game broke on me twice, and the rep at the booth didn't know how to fix it. Like the game just stopped registering any of my movements!

Donkey Kong.. was actually a ton of fun. Got to go through it twice, first time was a disaster, but second time, really got the hang of it, and its a fun little puzzle game. I hope it has a ton more puzzles.. and like online leaderboards or something since it does keep track of high scores.

Now there's a toss-up between Sweet Day and Luigi's Ghost Mansion as my favorite game on display. Both share a similar concept, 5 player game with a character on the Wii Pad that has abilities the other players don't. And both really need communication between players on the Wiimote to win, and it was a ton of fun. Everyone shouting orders and the likes and getting freaked out when grabbed or whatever.

Now for more specific
Luigi's Ghost Mansion. Most of it is known, but some things didn't see mentioned much. If you are the ghost, you can press A to run, but running makes you visible on the big screen.

You are able to revive your teammates by shining a light on them for an extended period of time. Obviously leaving you vulnerable to ghost attacks.

When you are the last player in the game, you can get a super vacuum which allows you to revive your teammates quicker/do more damage. Sadly, I didn't get to see it in use.

Got to try out the game as both the ghost and Miis, and it is a ton of fun no matter which side you are on.

Animal Crossing shares a similar theme. Except the Miis have a goal they are trying to reach (gathering 50 candies) while the person on the GamePad controls 2 guards.

What I didn't know is that you actually controlled both guards independently with the analog sticks and the screen stretches the further you are to show both players. So the strategy I used was to move them along different paths so you can better corner the Miis and their candy. The game also proved to be a blast since you need to cooperate with your teammates for certain trees (some require 2 or event 3 players to activate)

I think NintendoLand has potential, but really need to see how the final package is flushed out. As fun as the games were, I feel like each needs at least 4-5 different maps to really keep the experience fresh and fun. And perhaps.. shorter tutorials.

Oops, I just assumed they put out a certain amount for each group

Ha ha, it's entirely possible that my group just finished all of their allotment before I had a chance to get one.

I wish I had tried out the other NintendoLand games. It seems like they were just constantly playing the Animal Crossing one in my group. I got through a few rounds of that before I decided to leave that station.

I went to the Wii U Experience event yesterday, and I had a blast! Granted, waiting in line to get in the building was grueling due to the heat (100 degrees), but I was with my friends who would regularly show up to StreetPass NYC Meetups. Right when we got in, we got a lot of pictures taken, got some free stuff (the Cotton Candy and Blue Lemonade Soda was amazing!), then got to play the games.

The Gamepad was actually lighter than I expected. It's very comfortable to hold onto, as well as it being easy to use. Definitely worth playing games on.

Nintendo Land is actually a lot more fun than anyone would think. I played the Luigi's Ghost Mansion Minigame, and couldn't get enough of it. Played two games of it with the Wiimote and one with the Gamepad. Reminds me of Pac Man Vs., but without the switching of Wiimotes, and a Time Limit.

New Super Mario Bros. U - Of course, it's Mario. I had a lot of fun with this, and using the GamePad controls to help make platforms was really neat. Game itself looks a lot better than the other games in the series.

Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge - It's what Ninja Gaiden 3 on PS3/360 should've been. It's actually Good. Better combos, more weapons, runs a lot faster, enemies put in effort to attack you, and it's gory. Definitely worth checking out.

Game & Wario - Amazing stuff. I only got to try the Archery game, but it was a lot of fun using the Gamepad. Controls well, plays well, feels a lot like the successor to WarioWare.

I was going to play Pikmin 3, Project P-100, ZombiU, and Rayman Legends, but the lines for those were really long, though I did wait in line for Project P-100, but the guy before me ended up being the last guy to play for the 3:00-5:00 group. I was disappointed with that, but otherwise, I had a great time with this event. I look forward to the Wii U more than ever.

Also got a lot of StreetPass tags all day as well.

Yeah, the funny thing about that was I went to the Nintendo World Store and got about 3 tags. Afterwards when I went to the Wii U event I got another 40 more. I guess the event really drew the hardcore Nintendo fans. Makes me wonder if that is the audience they should really be advertising to. I mean, we were all probably going to buy the Wii U anyway. What they need to do is get ahold of a list of hardcore Xbox, PS3, and PC gamers and invite them to events to convince them that they are serious about gaming.

Yeah. Most of us went to Nintendo World Store afterwards. They had a Kid Icarus Tournament, which they hold every week.

You probably might have seen me. I was the guy with the Nintendo Rehabilitation Clinic T-shirt.

I think the idea here is to get out the word of mouth from people who post on gaming forums, like us. I'm positive they'll be doing demos in the wild with the Wii U, but I think with forum-goers proclaiming "the Pad is nice and light, and these games are awesome, check them out when you can!", the hardcore Xbox, PS3 and PC gamers might be inclined to check out the demos.

That or they'll brush it off as kiddy, which is the old status quo. *shrugs* ZombiU will be interesting to see if it changes that.

Thanks to everyone for the impressions. Hopefully it is a good sign that P-100 had long lines

Pains me that I couldn't attend this. I even found out later that there was a similar event held in Canada! But it was in Montreal, which is barely closer to me than NYC anyway.

It was funny, I didn't know Nintendo fans sounded like Nintendo fans in person..

Folks in front of me were complaining about Kotaku and their coverage while on line and stuff.

Though did love the StreetPasses.. got all the StreetPass only puzzle pieces now!

The Gamepad was actually lighter than I expected

How come the Gamepad is still lighter than expected if we have been hearing
for a year now how light it is? What are people expecting?

It is kinda a size to weight ratio thing. You see the GamePad and expect it to be filled with all sorts of electronics and gizmos and expect a certain weight from it. Then when you hold it in your hands you are pleasantly surprised on how little it weighs.

Its one of those things.. that no matter how many people tell you, you really don't realize it until its in your hands.

Its sort of like the Cube. I remember everyone kept saying the disc were tiny.. I even saw pics of it online.. but it was when I opened my first Cube game I realized HOW small they were.

Same with the controller, it is unbelievably light.

it's easy to get hyped up or seduced about the wii u in a social setting

the reality is that most people will be playing on their own

and there are no online games yet

and the mini games will run out of novelty

and using gyyro, touchscreen and duel screen at the same time will get anoying after an extended play time

zombi u is already a repeat offender in a 10 minute demo !!!

batman wii u is cool but having to use the touchscreen for every minigame or every gadget is going to be excruciating

is it strange that this thread has me more excited about the WiiU than E3?

1. There are a lot of people that will play this in a social setting.

2. Online games will come and even then, not everyone is an online gamer.

3. Thank god Mini games aren't the only games coming out for the Wiiu

4. The real feature of the screen (for me at least) is freeing up the TV for good, that will make things much better, and using the gyro for control won't be that bad, didn't mind it for the PS3 controller.

There are plenty of reasons to be disappointed in the WiiU, you listed none.

Ok, went with my son and eldest daughter. Got there late so couldn't play everything I wanted:

Sing: Kinda meh to me, but I live in a household that went nuts for the Michael Jackson experience. This could do well. Though, the sight of my girl dancing and singing the LMFAO party song was worth the $35 parking ticket. (No way on earth was I taking the subway/oven to Times Square with these rugrats)

Nintendo Land: oh boy, I can easily see this becoming the Wii Sports if enough people play it. Yet, I also see the struggles it could have with the complexity. I mean, bowling, baseball and gold, etc are easily understood by the buyers that made the original Wii a success. Can this group be coaxed to understand the game mechanics of the multiplayer Zelda game where orbs have to be hit with 5 seconds oaf each other? I loved it and my kids and I understood what to do. I don't know if the casual will be turned off from something familiar like sports, to something more abstract like gaming conventions. And yet, I figured this in my earlier gaming life without someone explicitly telling me what to do. It is interesting that Nintendo is almost educating these non-hardcore gamers by using a Mii coat of paint

Edit: Oh, and the Pad is comfortable as hell. Light (sorry, couldn't resist) and very responsive screen. I really like the experience.

Fake second edit: Afterwards went to the street fair (CORN DOGS!!! YES.gif) and then to Dave and Buster's. Holy Cockroach, Pac-Man Battle Royale is awesome. That shit needs to come to a home console now.

It is interesting that Nintendo is almost educating these non-hardcore gamers by using a Mii coat of paint

wii u = family fun !!!

So I'm just going to copy over my thoughts from the Wii-U Community thread, since it was a long post.

Anyway here's my impressions from today.

So I just got back from NYC a little bit ago and got to play the Wii-U. Surprisingly the 5 - 7 time slot really wasn't very crowded at all, and I got to try out a bunch of titles and even got a long time with some of them. I have to say I'm even more excited for the Wii-U now. I knew I was going to get one, but now it's like OK the fucker needs to release tomorrow so I can play some more!

Just some comments on the Wii-U pad before the games. It was WAY WAY lighter than I expected it to be. I was actually really surprised how light it was. I was also surprised by just how crisp and bright the screen was. Not quite retina display, but still really nice and sharp. Colors were great on it. I don't know if it's just using motion sensing, or if there are small ir camera's on the sides of the Wii-U controller but you can turn it side was and aim at the screen with it.

New Super Mario Bros U - So this one I got A LOT of time with. They had two stations for this, and one of them was in like a room that no one seemed to notice. So I got to play each of the 3 levels with a full allotment of 5 people. Controls are spot on, as you would expect from the NSMB line, and the graphics were really nice. While it's the same NSMB style we've seen before, it was super crisp, bright, and very sharp and detailed. Who ever that pixel counter was that claimed it had no AA, they were so damn wrong. After playing all 3 levels I went out to try some other stuff. Then there was a moment when they were doing some competition thing on Wii-Fit U so I went back to the NSMBU room and had the game all to myself. This time I got to play using the Wii-U pad, and to confirm with the pad you don't have to use motion controls. If you press the left trigger it's the same as doing the motion controls with the Wii controllers.

Wario and Game - For this I played the Arrow game of it. Which you turn the Wii-U pad side ways to aim the arrows and draw your finger across the screen to shoot them. This was actually a lot of fun, and the aiming on it worked really well. Better than the Ninja game in Nintendo land, but more on that later. At one point I let the little Warios get close to me and they appear on the pad screen and you have to do a stomp the ant kind of little thing. It was fun, I thought it was a nice integration.

Zombi-U - This was my only annoyance during the whole thing, and it wasn't the game's fault. So the person ahead of me in line for this game got a good 15 - 20 minutes with the game, and the person standing there helping folks just let him go and do his thing with it. When it came to be my turn, things were a little different. I start going, and kill like 2/3 zombies with the hand gun, and then the guy basically manhandles the controller and forces me to equip the cricket racket or something like that, in an area where I'm surrounded by like 4 - 6 Zombies. Needless to say I was dead in no time, to which it now wasn't my turn any more..........So I waited 20 minutes to get to play for just shy of 3, thanks line guy. Anyway from the little bit I played, and more I watched of it, the game seems fun. It's all in real time so to speak, so if you're trying to loot a Zombie, or checking your inventory, other Zombies are all running around still and coming for you. The use of the Wii-U pad seemed interesting, and I was kind of on the fence with the title before but I think I'll get it at launch.

Luigi's Ghost House (mansion? forget what it was called) - This was pretty cool, and a lot of fun. I got to play like 3 rounds of it. I played two rounds as the folks with flashlights, and a round as the Ghost. The round with as the Ghost I took all 4 other people down in like less then a minute. This felt like an awesome party game. Playing as the regular people and, yelling out ohh I felt the ghost over here, or there in the lightning you can see him, was actually pretty fun. I could totally see this being a fun party game. Actually a lot of the Nintendo Land stuff I played felt that way.

Zelda Battle Something (sorry I totally forgot the names of the mini games) - So in this one, it's 3 players with 2 players acting as Swordsmen, and 1 player with the Wii-U pad acting as a bowman. I got to play this one twice, once as a swordsman and then once again as a bowman. I really liked the bowman part. This was the first time I got to use the umm looking at the Wii-u pad screen and aiming with it style game play. I was actually surprised how well it worked, and I don't think I looked at the main tv screen at all during that time.

Ninja Something - This was the only single player game from Nintendo Land I played. Similar to the Wario one, you turn the Wii-U pad side ways and flick over the touch screen to throw throwing stars, and you turn/tilt the wii-u pad to aim. For some reason this felt, almost TOO sensitive to me. I almost think it would have felt/worked better if I was sitting down, because then I would be resting my hand holding the Wii-U pad in my lap, and there would be far far less tiny little movements. I'm guessing the Wario game is being less precise and not using every tiny movement, the way this one is. I mean just every tiny little motion was read in my aiming. It was ok, but it was a little frustrating in how accurate it was. Like I said, maybe if I was sitting down and therefor had far less little movements for it to read I would have liked this better.

Rayman Legends - There isn't much to say. It played like Rayman Origins and looked absolutely beautiful on the screen. The two player stuff seemed interesting, it was a real team work kind of thing. Like with the person having the pad able to tell you, or this invisible ledge has spikes, but this one doesn't so jump to this one sort of thing.

Pikmin 3 - I only watched folks play this one, because 1 I'm a bad Pikmin player, and 2 the line was kind of long at the time. Looked good, and I think fans of the series are going to really dig it. It seemed like people had no problem with the controls, and visually it looked pretty nice.

P-100 - This is another one I only watched, again because the line for this was always HUGE. It looked a lot more fun in person than the trailer made it out to be. This has gone from a hmmm maybe to an almost definite for me.

I'd just like to add a comment on Nintendo Land in general. I really, REALLY hope that Nintendo is smart and makes this a pack in. My experience with Nintendo Land echos Wii Sports in eerie ways. During both of their E3's when they were shown I was totally Meh to them. Watched half a trailer and called it a day. Then at pre-launch events where I got to play both of them, I became totally sucked in and had crazy amounts of fun with them. Both are easily party games, specially drinking party games. I really think Nintendo has a possible chance of lightning striking twice with Nintendo Land. I just hope they're smart and get it into enough people's hands in a social setting like they did with Wii Sports.

Also sorry Ghahiggidy (spelling?) I didn't see any power bricks left out to take pictures of.

Ohh I also noticed that there were just as many black Wii-Us as there were white ones, hopefully black will be a launch color!

This also took way longer to type up than I thought it would.

I went to the WiiU experience in NYC yesterday. I was late and hot and sweaty, so that part sucked. I also have poor reading comprehension and actually went to Nintendo World first instead of the location where they were having the event.

I made sure to check everything out visually, and the system looks very nice. It is certainly not going to be able to compete with my gaming PC, but first party Nintendo games in a much higher res then I have ever seen is all I want, and it is what I got.

I got some hands on time with Nintendoland:

Luigi's Mansion - This was TONS of fun. I've never played pac man vs. We did the demo (my friend Ginny and I) with 3 strangers and we all had good fun, taking turns as the ghost. The touch and the visual fidelity of the gamepad impressed me. My friend Ginny doesn't game that much and she really enjoyed it as well. (I might have been playing with Shin John PV)

Link sword thing - Was fun but forgettable. Cant see myself playing it very many times

Donkey Kong - Didn't get to actually play it, but from watching, it looks awesome.

I also got some hands on with NSMBU:

Don't listen to anyone who says this is the same as NSMBWii graphically, they are out of their minds. The game is STUNNING. True Mario in HD and it is awesome. I played the first two available levels and the game retains the mario gameplay that we all know and love... but with a problem...

I'm hoping this is due to it being an early rev, or the TV's not being calibrated properly, but there was MASSIVE input lag while we were playing 3 players (and 1 more on gamepad making platforms). I can't imagine Nintendo EVER shipping a Mario game with an issue like this, but I felt that I should mention it.

The event itself was nice and fun. I think its crazy we live in a world where the sign stuck on to each "cubicle" was an ipad and not a sign, but whatever.

I'm really glad Nintendo did this, it was a great way for me to preview the hardware, and to feel special for being a loyal fan.

I gave my third invite to a gaffer, but we didn't seek each other out or anything.
