if their not a Super Wal-Mart they're not a 24 hour Wal-Mart and therefore would not do a midnight launch.

How are they going to do a midnight launch when they're not 24 hours?? If they're not 24 hours they close at like 9 pm then open up at like 6 am the next morning. You should try calling them since you know for sure they arent open at midnight "normally"

This is actually wrong. When the Gamecube launched my Wal-Mart was 24 hours and it wasn't Super.

Of course that was 5 years ago... so I might actually be wrong.
 
Just saw my first Wii commercial during a Madtv rerun on Comedy Central, the hype is mounting! It was for Call of Duty 3 and of course there was some douche jumping behind his sofa with Wiimotes in hand.

edit: just saw another one for Marvel Alliance, this will be a hell of a pervasive ad campaign it seems. $200 million will do that! hype train all aboard!

that's not true, mine is not a 24 hour but they are doing a midnight launch. Also there are non Super Centers that are 24 hour.
 
btw was it confirmed that the wii will keep a history of the games you play and the time you played them? i heard something about that but i am not really sure.
 
yes, screens are on.. umm.. just about every site I think. it gives you your daily play history and I believe I've seen overall play history.
 
UK ads have started as well!!

THe adverts was shown on a cable music channel and was excatly like the first japanese advert.

I don't have a scan or anything, but my girlfriend just told me on MSN that there's is an advert in UK Glamour magazine (chick shit with fashion and so forth) for Wii. A double page advert, encouraging the ladies to get the girls round, get some wine and play some Wii. From what she said, it sounds like a kind of sponsored feature. Either she's had some crazy ****ing dream, or Nintendo are dead serious about this market expansion stuff.
 
ugh my launch day plans have taken a turn for the worse... my costco said that they are not selling it on launch day. I just called Target and they guy in electronics told me that it would be available FRIDAY, i questioned him on this and he was dead serious (I doubt it will be sold on friday but I will be calling back in the next few days to make sure). SO if they are selling it on friday morning then i will have to find some way to get there before 8am and still get my kids to school :( Circuit City said that they would have them on sunday but it is a super small store and I dont hold much hope if there is a line on launch morning. :( Where else is anyone with no preorder picking a wii up?

To anyone who's gotten the Wii/Activision Trailers DVD from Target: Did you have to ask a salesperson about it or did you just see it on the shelf? Cause I went to Target twice last week and yeilded no results.

They were with the other wii accesories at my nearest Target. Almost bought one, and then decided I couldn't afford the tax on a penny.

Anyway, our DM confirmed a midnight launch. Still incredibly short on hours though.
 
This componant cable thing is really irking me now. I just called gamestop and they insisted that the cables I was asking about(Componant) come with the system.

I see that other companies will have them, but will they be on the shelves at launch?

Grr, so what the hell should I do people? Call my Walmart adn ask if they're doing a midnight launch (it's not a Superstore), call around and ask all the other places when they're selling them, or drive all teh way to the nearest superstore?

It's a bit more powerful than a Xbox, but not by much.

We have almost nil technical info on the cpu/gpu. So who knows, really. Launch games aren't signaling any significant difference from GC though. Ive accepted that its basically a GC with some more RAM. Im not going to hope for anything more.
 
I'm not sure if this has been posted yet, but is there DEFINITE word on how long the blue light stays on? Does it go out during playing a game or immediately after boot-up, no matter what?
 
I hear the remote has a speaker in it..Is it possible to turn this feature off if you're sick of it or you want to keep your playing on the down low?
 
As of 8pm tonight, Nintendo has started taking limited orders for component cables. I had emailed them earlier and they replied with this "exclusive offer." I ordered mine...the rest of you can go after them. :)
