Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! D3's Working On A 'Regular Show' Video Game

Searched and couldn't find a thread. Lock if old etc.

D3Publisher adapts their second Cartoon Network series following last year's 3DS/DS release "Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why’d You Steal Our Garbage?!"

Without announcing a platform or the upcoming game (although the 3DS/DS is a good bet), D3 announced that their "Regular Show" adaptation would take slacker heroes Mordecai (he's the six foot tall bluejay) and Rigby (his diminutive and hyper best friend) to an all-new park. Presumably, surreality will ensue.

D3's platformer/light-RPG based on "Adventure Time" was very successful at evoking that hugely popular animated series but its combat suffered from bouts of repetitiveness and some of the humor was lost without the voice work of the cast. Like "Adventure Time," "Regular Show" is very dependent on its voice actors (including series creator J.G. Quintel and Mark Hamill) to sell the manic comedy set in a public park beset with wizards, rock gods, and the very specter of death.

D3 has not yet announced when "Regular Show" will be available.

It'll probably be a fairly slapped-together game with cute sprite work. Adventure Time was adorable, but really disappointing overall on the gameplay front.

Then again maybe they'll rip on something a little more inspired than Zelda II for this one. Recettear or Cart Life would be a great template.

first level it's really hard to do things and they're all tedious

second level you're suddenly super powerful because you found a thing

third level you find out that the thing is supernatural and it backfires on you

fourth level skips or benson or a reluctant mordeci and rigby save the day

fifth level is the first level again

Fantastic! I enjoy this show way more than Adventure Time, and it really does lend itself to a videogame adaptation. I'm wondering what kind of game it will be? Quintel said he'd like a RG game similar to Toe Jam and Earl, where you get to freely explore the park and the surrounding area.

Anyway, I'm looking to hearing more.

The Mississippi Queen montage was pretty good. I haven't watched it in a while but it's a good cartoon. Was the Adventure Time game any good? Looked Zelda 2ish to me. Any reason I'd want to get on 3DS vs DS?

Regular Show seemed alright for a bit, but then I became aware of the dumb cycle that every episode follows. Now it's pretty much the Family Guy of Cartoon Network's primetime lineup for me.

I just want a Benson controlled level where his only weapon is him shouting "YOU'RE FIRED" to incoming enemies. I'd so play that.

You forgot the part where after you beat the final boss you have to play the whole game again to get the real ending.

Regular Show's formula has become predictable, but they still inject a lot of creativity into the details, even if it's a recycled arc. Still, I watch more Regular Show than Adventure Time. I love both shows though. I prefer one over the other depending on the time of day and the alignment of planets. Hope the game is good!

I nearly had a nerdgasm when I heard "Touch" in the 100 episode special. So much 80's nostalgia in that episode. If I'm feeling nostalgic about ANYTHING, Regular Show is the only thing to watch because it always hits just the right notes.

My dream RS game would probably be something like Gunstar Super Heroes, in that it'd have recreations of a bunch of genres of gaming for almost every segment. A bit Beat'em Up mixed with platforming/puzzle light would work too.

Toejam & Earl 1 or 2 a-like would be great too. Co-Op needs to be a focus.

I'd much rather it turn out like the Adventure Time game, rather than the horrible downloadable Ben 10 games, for instance... or CN Punchtime Explosion (and I actually BEAT that game!).

Shame the superior cartoon had to wait, but here we are now.

Yeah... while the best of AT I'd say is better than most of RS, I find myself looking forward to Regular Show much more.

Between Adventure Time and Regular Show, I'd rather watch Regular Show.

-nod- Of course, my pref is to see both, ha.

It's only a 15 min show, and they seem well aware of the formulatic parts. But the show makes itself with the twist of what it comes up with; You can see the set-ups coming from a mile away, but the solutions are rarely ever predictable in nature.

Oddly enough, I was probably smiling for 20 minutes after they used "Tough", haha. That one really got me, and it's been a while since they used licensed music I recognized / cared about. I love how they often use a Master System for 8-bit design, rather than an NES, too. They do manage to hit everything just right quite often.

Regular Show is mediocre at best. Tell me a good joke that isn't just obvious meme bait and perhaps I'll change my mind. The fact that you put "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" in the topic title says it all. It's like watching an old school stoner buddy comedy without any humor or pot.

Both cartoons are extremely formulaic, but at least some of the more recent Family Guy gags are still funny because of how shocking they are.

I might actually get this due to my love for Regular Show. Also J.C. Quintel's rise up into making the show is quite inspirational in itself.

I didn't get the Adventure Time 3DS game due to me not liking the show as much as Regular Show, but I liked the demo of the game on eShop. Hopefully the game is as good as I thought that demo was.

I just copied the article title.

I'm not sure anyone could really tell a joke out of Regular Show or Adventure Time in a sentence and it'll seem funny because it doesn't have that kind of you can tell humor. A video might be better, but you can't really laugh at a joke if someone posts a video and you go into it with a "I'm gonna look at this joke and not laugh," attitude. Just saying that it would be pointless.

Also Family Guy isn't that funny ever since it seems that they are going into very controversial subjects, and do time travel every 5 seconds in the show now. I can't even remember the last new episode I laughed at Family Guy ever since the Red Bull episode.

Not being mean but just saying.

wow. how did you design the game so fast?

i like regular show, but it's stupidly formulaic and no longer very interesting, like psych. adventure time is fucking weird, but it's been doing different things throughout the years.
