As a weather app, it can still tell the temperature, and give a forecast with humidity and stuff. For me that's enough, but I realize some want more data. Then this isn't for them.

I think alright is the dismissive form of all right, similar to how one might say they are "okay" when they mean that they are nothing more than okay. "The test went all right" carries the connotation of a perfect score, but "the test went alright" suggests only passing grades were met.
