Brink sucks and it always sucked.

Blank Check ruled. I have literally never heard of Smart House.

Didn't "The Color of Friendship" win an Emmy or something?

South Africans so racist.

My girlfriend is a Disney Channel Original Movie expert and convinced me to watch this one weekend. It's actually really well done and level headed compared to some of the other Disney Channel movies. It doesn't get too goofy or mushy at any point. I would definitely recommend it for kids and teens

Yeah, a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Children's Program. That movie stood out too me for it's acting and storyline before I even knew what good acting was. That and Tru Confessions, the Disney Channel Original Movie where Shia LaBeouf played the mentally handicapped young teen twin brother of the protagonist.

And of the choices in the OP, Blank Check. It was a theatrical release, so it had the bigger budget (and it showed). And my mom bought me the VHS for Blank Check, so that ends that discussion for me right there.

Hold on, people actually like brink??
And holy shit, Airborne is even worse.

Yeah, when we were ten.

Terrible acting, terrible dialogue, clichéd plot (like we knew that then), but really well done skateboarding sequences. The latter is all a young boy really needed back in the mid-90s to early-00s.

What was that Disney Channel bowling movie?

The one where the girl who was awful at bowling just spin the ball down the lane super slowly so they could win.

That was great too.

This is a great place to brag -

My Dad's fraternity brother Manny Coto directed both The Other Me and Zenon the Zequel :)

That's my claim to fame

I remember the guy saying they'll go to disneyland at like noon and it got me mad.

You gotta go at like 6 and get there when it opens. wtf.

Tru Confessions is a 2002 Disney Channel Original Movie. Tru Walker aspires to be a famous filmmaker. She has a twin brother Eddie, who is a person with a mental disability. Eddie becomes the subject of Tru's documentary for a film contest she enters. The film was directed by Paul Hoen and is based on the book of the same name by Janet Tashjian.

I went to the same high school as the blank check kid, even shared a few classes with him. I just remember him being a big stoner.

I watched way too many of these way too many times. Off top I remember: Quints, Genius, Halloweentown, Don't Look Under the Bed, Johnny Tsunami, Alley Cats, Smart House, Phantom of the Multiplex, Mom's Dating a Vampire, Zenon, Zenon 2, Halloweentown 2, Halloweentown 3 (with the high school), Zenon: Z3, the mermaid one, think there was a kim possible movie and there was definitely a Proud Family one, oh Even Stevens movie, Get a Clue (the fucking theme song to which is still stuck in my head), Luck of the Irish, that motocross one, Up Up and Away, Eddie's Million Dollar Cook Off, The Cheetah Girls...think around there was when I stopped watching Disney Channel.

Okay checking an actual list yeah, I stopped watching around the first high school musical when I was 13. and Mom's Dating a Vampire was Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire. And Zenon 2 had the much better title THE ZEQUEL, while Halloweentown 2 was KALABAR'S REVENGE. and the mermaid one was The Thirteenth Year.

of the ones I've listed that haven't been talked about much yet I'd like to highlight:
  • was Don't Look Under the Bed really scary? Cause I remember being legitimately terrified of it.
  • Halloweentown series I found less scary but still scary. in a more fun way. more than anything I think it's funny that I kinda love horror movies now and this is where I started. not by sneaking someone else's friday the 13th, but by watching repeats of Don't Look Under the Bed and Halloweentown (well, and Don't Be Afraid of the Dark) and...
  • Phantom of the Multiplex. This was one of my favorites, no joke. but whenever the topic of dcoms has come up among friends (and it has several times) no one remembers this one. But it has Mickey Rooney! For a children's TV movie, it's pretty goddamn meta. Like Scream for pre-teens...shit this was totally how they pitched it.
  • I still think about Eddie's Million Dollar Cook Off when I cook eggs
  • seriously, I dare you to listen to the theme for Get a Clue. dare you. will be caught forever (the President's Daughter theme is crazy catchy too but it's technically not a DCOM
  • Had a mad crush on zenon. zenon was cute.

fuck now I found a link to So Weird clips. this nostalgia hole's not gonna end. thanks op
