our band sucks so we make gimmicky videos to make up for it

I agree with you on this one. I can usually appreciate musicians for what they put on but the sound is horrid and so is the singing.

Very impressive, but nowhere near as iconic as the treadmill thing. I feel like that Honda ad kind of defined the viral Rube Goldberg, and that made the rounds seven years ago.

Is it sad that after watching this video, I can't remember one note of the song? The machine totally overshadows the song, to the point that it could be white noise and I wouldn't notice.

I hate fun and people who get paid to do fun things.

You don't say.

I'm not gonna lie, their music isn't that great, but that doesn't mean their music videos aren't awesome. Dismissing the videos as gimmicks ignores the talent it takes to make them.

I wish I were bitter!

Have you made a Rube Goldberg?

They're right little bastards to do.

Also, Ok Go have the best music videos. They're really more performance art than straight band.

Why do you people have to ruin the creativity of this video? I don't even really like OK Go, but what's the problem with making these awesome videos that attract millions upon millions of views and inspire others to do similar things or inspire enjoyment in general?

Watch the video, be impressed, and just walk away. They aren't shitting on your toast.

mmm shit toast

while I feel like OK GO DOES rely on videos more than actual tunes, that doesn't mean a lot to me. I can appreciate a good video for what it is.
No band seems to have used music videos (to gain fans at least) this well since weezer.

Also, this video seems very similar to another (somewhat) recent video from another mediocre (IMO) band called The Bravery

Although I'm not sure it was done in a single take

For some reason though, as snobby as I am, it bugs the shit out of me when peoiple just use the word "sucks" to describe a band outright.
I thought "get over it" was a decent pop song when it came out. Not my thing, but I can appreciate why someone else would. This new OKGO song doesn't have the charm as that one, but its not intended for me. I really haven't followed their career enough to make a blanket statement about the band.

-The paint suits were dumb/pointless.
-The warehouse and props were ugly.
-I wonder if they even put a large effort in building it themselves along with whoever else had to work on it.

Feeding off of what I just said...

Unless they put major effort into building/designing this... whoever designed this impressive domino effect, while VERY ugly, needs the credit.

Whoever decided to build it in a warehouse needs to be kicked.

Them and their music benefiting from it is VERY lame if they didn't put effort in the design/construction.

One of their sisters did that one video with the treadmills.
I don't really care if they worked on it. Thats not how music videos usually work. If it was my video, I would leave the director to make it and my band to do its thing.
People who think they can/should be involved in the entire process are usually wrong.

I prefer the Japanese show that's full of these type of things, I have both DVD books and enjoyed them more. A great video like this can't cover such a bland and terrible song though.

Just watch. The last video for This Too Shall Pass was kinda cool, but this...this is just fucking awesome. RGBs *bows*

This Too Shall Pass -- RGB Version

And with THAT, I'm OUT! I mean, I was like "Ok, cool, little stuff, dominos" but when the god damn CAR entered the picture and they started FLYING across the room, that's when I had to bow out. No music video will ever be worth any amuont of effort after this. How do you top that? This is the Axe Cop of music videos.
